Your friendly herbalist here! I also have horrible insomnia! I just wanted to put a little warning out there that valerian root is great for sleep for most people. There is a small percent of people that it works the opposite way on. I can attest to that. I took it and it made me feel like I was crawling out of my skin, and it made me super hyper. So, I would suggest trying it on a night you don’t HAVE to sleep. Lemon balm and holy basil are also good options if valerian doesn’t work for you. I have heard that for those it works for it is AMAZING! The daily magnesium and ashwaganda are key!!

And like he said I learned all about circadian rythm when I moved north and didn’t get as much sunshine and never knew about this. I’ve done happy light and when sun is out I get out in a hot tub to get some and it helps to get through!

It's funny you say this! Chamomile makes me SO hyper lol and I've heard all my life that it's the best for calming down! I prefer holy basil and lemon balm personally.

I've been struggling with sleep for the last several years. Often only get about 4-5 hours a night, waking up at 1am and tossing and turning until I get up. Many of the things you mentioned have helped. In particular, wear yourself out! If I get a good hard workout in during the day I always sleep better. Also cutting out alcohol! Great video Dusty 😊 Happy Easter to you, Erin and the kiddos!

. . . thx for this great vid...I thought it was going to be a repeat of all the other sleep vids, but you have some really great & different ideas that I'm going to try...most interesting was the tip about telling myself that I'm NOT going to try to sleep...and, most especially, love your daily prayers . . . God Bless You & your Beautiful Familia... 🥰

An alternative to saying to yourself, I don't need sleep: I say to myself, I deserve sleep. I deserve to rest. I deserve to exist and do nothing but sleep and rest. This is my go-to.

Thank you! I have the worst insomnia. I’ve gone max 3 days sometimes with no sleep. I take anxiety meds due to being hospitalized for severe panic attacks and it’s made me gain weight. So I am going to try all of the things you mentioned in this video. Fingers crossed.

I absolutely LOVE the mindset change so much! We have a 15 week old and she is getting into the swing of things now. Would you guys ever be able to share how you co-sleep with multiples? I can't wait to have more kids (we are in our late thirties) but am so worried about how to implement a sleeping arrangement with a baby and toddler in the future lol!

Four in the bed. Super cute. I believe in co-sleeping. Eventually the kids leave your bed when they’re ready.

Wow, thank you so much for your advice. There is so much truth and wisdom to everything you explain. I live in Brooklyn, New York I tell my neighborhood never sleeps. A couple of years ago I visited Port St Lucie and the bedroom that I was sleeping change my life forever because the bedroom was so simple and cozy but most important it did not have a tv. God used this vacation time to teach me this lesson because now in the city that does not sleep my body recognizes that when I lay down it’s time to sleep and I immediately fall sleep it so amazing. I’m confirming everything you mention. Thanks God bless your beautiful growing family. Amen thank You Lord.

I love the magnesium spray idea... I bought the Sun Warrior magnesium with the eye dropper and tried, really tried to ingest it. Oh man, it was so nasty, and they tell you it is not tasty... I think I will try using it on the outside. Thank you!!

Any alarm clock recommendations? I am trying to break up with my phone as my alarm on workdays because I get sucked in to the scroll early in the morning.

Have you tried a sunrise lamp? It sits on your side table and wakes you up gently by slowly mimicking the sun rising. I can't remember where mine is from as I've had it for years, but I'm sure there are plenty of options online nowadays. 😊
