The SubH is truly unique and I think will be a Moog classic. Great to watch you working with it helps us all to get to know this amazing synth.

It is 100% worth the effort in my opinion. Ive been using this synth since it came out. It can be time consuming and complex ( and can get messy,) but, it has an amazing sound, and does things to sub frequencies no other synths do, also it has intuitive sequencers. I wanted something like this, but for percussion. I have my eye on the perkons, and already have some samples from it. Please do more hardware videos 🙂
@audioreakt3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I am having a lot of fun with it too, but very time consuming ! For me it's always refreshing as I use mostly Ableton and this synth is a fresh approach to create synth/melody

Totally agree. It can be a beast at first. For me, it has been best to learn some basics and then experiment abit. The experimentation leads me to what I want to learn more about and the cycle continues. Love the machine.

Great tips. Agreed this is VERY hard to get pleasing sounds with all the different oscillators and pitch options in the 2 different sequences. But keeping it very simple and slowly tweaking is the best approach

Using the pitch quantize can also help, but the approach in this video is great. Start at one pitch and with few oscillators.

Top tip: If you send midi CC 113 to the SubH, value 0-63 is OR & 65-127 is XOR logic. The XOR is most pleasing to my ears. I clock mine with a Beatstep Pro and have a toggle switch set up to switch between the two states. Fun vid man, peace ✌️

That's sounds interesting, I will try for sure, thanks for the tips !
@grahamkracker4562 жыл бұрын
Can you explain in simpler terms what this means/does?
@EdGripology2 жыл бұрын
@@grahamkracker456 IIRC it affects the behaviour when two rhythm generators send a pulse at the same time. The normal behaviour is that when two rhythm generators trigger at the same time - or "clash" - a pulse is sent. In the hidden mode, when two or more rhythm generators clash, no pulse is sent. This has the effect of "hole punching" odd but logical holes in the sequences.

A very understandable video. The best I've viewed so far in the last 3 days. I was like you on the fence and I don't have any Moog gear right now. In the past I've owned a little fatty and sub fatty. I've been delving more and more into self generative patterns. I've wanted a Moog again and looking at the hydra synth and Cobalt8 synths. Great Video! Need to have one myself. Does the polyryhtmic output to an external sequencer also work with Beatstep pro? Or does the beatstep clock-in accept stable metronome ppqn clocks only. I would like to use its quantise option and much more important transpose the whole sequence on the Fly.
