Skip the jumble box of random lids, keep most lids on the jars, keep the specialty lids in bin only and only those most practical and not a waste of money. Minimalize folks, no messy drawers, pare down to the essentials and sort like items into groups and into a few well thought out and placed drawers. A well thought out minimalist kitchen is a joy.

I've yet to try ceramic knives and I've rarely (if ever) sharpened my steel knives. My chopping board is a large marble board I've had for a few decades and if it ever breaks, I'm DEFINITELY getting another marble one. For my salads, I simply use a medium-sized stainless steel mixing bowl. For filtering water, I use a Waters brand, Korean-made 1.5litre pot. I own a Jack Lalanne juicer but I prefer to puree my fruits so I haven't used it for years. I'm not sure if I can afford one of the new vacuum blenders. I own two cheap but effective blenders (one a small "personal" blender and the other a one-litre glass carafe blender).

May i add a note from my own personal experience as well... i personally do not like any knife that shown that does NOT have a FORGED HANDLE, because water & juices enters between blade and handle thus causing bacteria to form over a period of time. I highly recommend Always buy a knife with a forged handle such as a Chef knife by Chicago Cutlery. I as well have purchased many until the chef knife(Belmont is the style) was added to my collection. The rest are history! 😆 This knife stays sharp for a long time as long as you hand wash soon after using and dry immediately. That was instructions from a knife dealer specially store in Pigein Forge Tennessee. Leaving any knife sit in water will dull it quicker than anything. I had cut myself several times with small knives but never once since i've been using the Chef knife. The bigger handle gives you more stability and control. I looove it! 🙂

For those interested in ceramic knives just a heads up for the 3 knife set from Miyako ($40 on Amazon) . Had a Kyocera knife for 5-6 years until I dropped it on the floor - very good knives no doubt. I've been using the Miyako ones now for a week and so far I like them, they are same quality as Kyocera but quite a bit cheaper.

The nutribullet Vac-Blender hack is the most important information here. Also the "living water" or filtering water through plants reinforced my weird habit of putting celery and cucumber in my drinking water. Pretty sure that apple-water has a similar fiber content to Metamucil. Also glad to hear you promote the coconut-oiling of your kitchen essentials (bowls, cuttingboards, and I recommend knives and utensils). **This can be essential pre-grease for any tight-pack mason jar substrate since coconut oil works nicely to maintain a sterilized environment** Use coconut oil before you add substrates mixtures, sprout ppl

The best kitchen knives are sold at restaurant supply stores. Victorinox, Dexter-Russel are more affordable choices. Bob Kramer (Wusthof) are more expensive. All of them are good professional quality knives. I purchased some ceramic knives and found them to have only limited use as they tend to have thicker blades and are extremely fragile. Dexter-Russel knives are used in professional kitchens more than any other knife. david

Great info! I also agree to use not use plastic wrap but parchment paper is not recyclable either. It's covered with silicone and the recyclers don't take the time to separate them. (plus the cooking oil that may be on it) Still better than plastic and if you buy un bleached parchment paper it is less toxic to us and the earth. just sayin...

The easiest way to keep fermenting vegetables from getting moldy is to keep them somewhere handy, like in the kitchen, and stir the top once a day. I don't need special containers or lids for pickling anymore. After a few days, depending on vegetable and time of year, refrigerate.

Great topic. With time I see that a good sharp knife (that is you need a whetstone and the skill to sharpen as well!) plus the knowledge of cutting techniques makes you incorporate the same fruit and vegetables in a more delicious way than I knew before. Plus a big topic for me are mechanical items for those of us who care about maximum closeness to nature and therefore avoiding these frequencies that electrified appliances (blenders, grinders, juicers work) in favor of old school mechanical kitchen gadgets, which also can give you a workout! Maybe someone here knows any brand or where to get those mechanical (no electicity) grinders, juices, blenders of good quality (non-plastic, or even if - then some high tech)?

Chop sticks are easy to use. I am of English Danish ethnic heritage living in a small town in Nebraska. I think chop is of course English and means chop chop or fast, the Chinese word for chop sticks means quick or fast sticks. I am not sure if that is true I heard it once so take it with a grain of salt.

I bought those plastic vacuum lids and they totally suck. Even if you wet them beforehand, they come off, especially if they were in the fridge. Sure, they cost me about 8 bucks, but they were disappointing. Bought a spiralizer awhile back before I heard of you though. The one I use doesn't make perfect noodles, but the ones they make are good enough for me.

Which costco RO sink system? (This one? www.costco.com/aquverse-5-stage-complete-ro-system.product.100516084.html ) For anyone in an apt or rental, Aquasana makes a decent sink top model and their filtration ratings are pretty good. It's $72.81 on Amazon now which is really good considering I paid around $150 years ago. Btw great vids! I gotta get those avocado loops!

You are so cool. I love that the proceeds from your Amazon links goes to an Animal rescue who specializes in special needs Animals. I just happen to find this video. It is very helpful. I, too, am vegan! And do raw most often. Interestingly enough I follow your gardening channel.

Reverse Osmoses waist so much water. Get a cheap distiller and have pure water. If you are eating a good raw food diet your are getting plenty of minerals.

Agreed. If one is getting a wide variety of raw fruit and veg in diet, distilled water is likely just fine.

Are you Japanese decent and other? Just curious. I call myself an Olive American (brown in the summer - white in the winter), but my ancestors come from eastern europe, Romania and Hungary.

OK, I'm goi g to ask this basic question. Why do you want to blend the crap out of stuff instead of just chewing it ?? Surely the digestive enzymes in your mouth and thr chewing action will stop oxidation and the slow absorption in your gut will pull the nutrients out at the correct speed. Surely having it all blended will cause sugar and nutrient spikes which is not good for you.
