Good and informative video! I'll be borrowing a few of these tips as I try to extend my golf season into the cold months here in the northeast USA.

In the western US, we get what we call "winter roll". The dormant grass makes balls roll forever. Courses play like links and you have to account for the roll. ;)

The best balls I have found for showing up in fall grass/leaves are the Titleist Velocity matte green balls. They almost glow it seems, and I can spot long before other colors. Just personal experience, but worth a try!

Nice tips. I live in Colorado and it’s possible to play year round. A lot of cold rounds but still fun.

A few more tips. A turtle neck is great for keeping warm. Wear a therma care heat wrap on you lower back, it warms your core. Winter golf gloves with hand warmers worn across the back of your hand where it won’t impede your swing. Polar fleece socks. Flannel lined pants. With thees tips I have played every year until it gets down to close to 0° Celsius. It helps to find a course that is protected from the wind.

Useful video, It gets cold in Western North Carolina and I'll be sure to use these tips. One I would add is that under my waterproof pants, I will wear a pair of running pants because they are tighter fitting and warmer.

I bring an awl with me. It’s like a screwdriver but with a point. I use it set tees into the frozen tundra.
@michaelzdanis39793 жыл бұрын
No need for that. I belong to a private club. If the ground is that frozen, the course is closed. No sense in damaging the course.

Southern USA is a bit different. Our Bermuda greens go dormant and tend to be faster. Softer balls feel so much better off irons than harder balls especially with our humidity and colder air together. More club into greens, yes. Knit cap but I still use a ball cap or visor over it to cut sun glare especially with the sun lower in the sky all day.. Two gloves isn't a bad idea to keep hands warm.

A warm toque is a must. Worn over baseball cap

If your ego is t too big a push caddy is essential in the winter. I don’t have three hands so the push caddy holds my umbrella to keep at least something dry. Here in the PNW playing in rain in the winter is a given, I’d throw in there waterproof shoes too. Nothing worst than wet feet playing in the rain.

How are these "hacks?" A "hack" is bringing a pair of rubber gardening gloves in case it gets really wet. Swinging with your grip wrapped in a towel when everything is soaked. Or telling your playing partners to stand behind you because that's the only place the club won't hit them if it flies out of your hands. Or keeping an extra gloves and towel inside plastic bags. Or carrying a giant trash bag to cover your clubs or yourself if you don't have rain gear. Or covering your scorecard with a something so it doesn't get wet. Or covering your hat with a plastic bag in light rain. Or carrying a stiff bristled brush in your car so you can clean your shoes ...

and here I thought winter golf hacks were people you see on the course in the snow.
@PDXJack873 жыл бұрын
Alcohol keeps you "feeling" warm after a few. You've pretty much hit all the good ones. Some people may not agree, but you can play with preferred lies. Clean golf ball every strike.

tip #1: keep the ball in the fairway, once you start searching for the ball in the rough your shoes will get wet and socks too and it sucks

Your info is good for the UK and the northern US but down here in Fl the info is wrong. Here most of the people play from mid-fall till mid or late spring. Earlier during that span ground is still boggy from all the rain we get during the summer. As time goes by the dryer it gets. it will get so dry in the spring that a lot of the ponds and lake edges are widened about a yard or two.
