Hey Joel can u please put all your shudder recommendations from previous vids and/or current faves in 1 place. Here, community page, somewhere? Idk if I'm keeping it longer than 30 days, I hate typical horror but psychological thrillers are my fave, I'd be willing to try it and support u through the sponsor but knowing what stands out to u will help me weed through all the gory slashers and cheesy creatures and go straight to the good stuff such as Channel Zero! Thanks if so, otherwise hopefully I can catch a live again soon and ask in person if u don't catch this comment!

I live on the coast of São Paulo, Brasil and sadly the first story is still a common occurence. If you haven't already, watch the movies City of God and Elite Squad. They are award winning Brazilian films and tell pretty accurate stories of life in the favelas (or as they call them now, communities). Sad and intense, there is literally a civil war going on in the hills of Rio and the authorities can do little to keep it under control.

Spent 3 weeks in Guatemala in 19i89. There's nothing like having a machine gun pointed at your chest while negotiating a bribe at a checkpoint. We spent months reading about the history and Fodor's, etc, travel books. All the knowledge can't save you from the unexpected - and the unexpected in Guatemala can be deadly quite easily. Anyone who is traveling there alone is asking for trouble- and is truly dense. It's beautiful, tragic, upsetting and magical. I'm sure things have changed since I've visited, but some things never change.

I saw a video of someone doing a favela tour a few weeks ago. Those informants really are everywhere aren't they? The guy had the sense to get out when he realised he was being eyeballed by one of them, and that same informant quickly brushed past him in the same direction to go and tell presumably gang members what was going on. Would not be me.

Growing up when traveling to Mexico I was told to not speak English in public, keep a low profile, and never show off. If I was told not to go to an area after a certain time, I better damn well listen. My god-sister liked dressing up really pretty,, while I was more of a tomboy. We were visiting her grandparents in Mx, just sitting outside chatting when a red car passed us. Later that evening that same red car came back and these grown ass men specifically asked for her, saying they wanted to take her out (she was barely 15!). Thankfully we were inside and all the men of the family were there, they played dumb saying she was only visiting and had left that afternoon. We were leaving the next day anyway, they were polite but its terrifying when you catch the attention of the wrong people.

Omg the death road!!! This is my 3rd comment here. I’ve traveled on that road for years when I was little. You have to drive on the left side. Luckily for decades, my grandfather never encountered any problems. I would look out the window when we had to drive next to a big truck and I just saw emptiness. You can’t even see the River because of the fog sometimes. And yes, when it rains you have to pass through a small waterfall. Luckily they built another road to get to Coroico and now people bike there and some trucks still pass through.
