Of the above I've worn the Pratt Knot. I've also tried a few whacky and intricate knots myself and these are far more simple than those I've worn. will definitely try these though once the weather cools down a bit. It's anywhere between 30 and 40 Celsius out these days so a tie's not really a good idea.

I've never used a four-in-hand. I don't like it and don't feel it suits me. Rather use half and full windsors.
@jamesthacoolcat99267 жыл бұрын
I have been using those two mainly. I use windsor for my more formal suits and power ties. And then four in hand for casual ties and sports jacket looks.

Excellent compilation! Being a shorter man, I need to use more complex tie knots to get the right length for my torso. I have tried, at least, half of these styles presented in the video.

@jaydengoodrem44267 жыл бұрын
Why are they all basically the same when finished? what about giving us something fun? not just a flat triangle. and that music is just so bad. sorry but it had to be said. I love ties they grate it just sometimes seems like they are doomed and simple knots like those are sometimes boring. Why knot try something fun and simple like the Trinity knot or something like that I know there a thousands of ways to tie a tie. Sorry if you read this as a hate it is just I love ties. I was that kid who would ware a three piece suit to school at an Australian public school. so state schools to other places.
@MarkShaneHansen7 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are plenty of different knots, but I disagree that they all look the same even if some of them has some similarity. Although it is true that there are more "exciting" and flamboyant knots, like the trinity as you suggested and also the eldredge knot.
@WhiteDwarfVR47 жыл бұрын
Mark The Gr8 I agree, the Eldredge is my favorite go-to knot. another favorite for particularly busy ties is The Onassis. On special occasions I might rock a trinity or an aperture knot but they take a little more time. Always looking for new and unique methods though.🤓

My favourite unusual knot is the Murrell knot. Tried it a while back at a Diplomatic party and it was definitely a conversation starter. People who are usually just hanging around and just exchange pleasantries asked questions and we talked more than we usually do. The Merovingian is a pretty cool version of it but I only use 2.5 inches width ties and it doesn't look as good as it does with the larger ties.

Yes - width and length matters when tying different tie knots.

Great info! My favorite knots are the wide ones, as I have an 18-1/2 neck, pretty much the same regardless of my weight. Balthus is spot on. But... with a large neck and being long waisted, I use the Oriental for reglular length ties. It seems there are few choices when it comes to extra long ties. Any suggestions for manufacturers?

Hey Antonio! Great video! I was wondering if you could do a video on socks because I somehow don't know how to match socks with my outfits and usually get bad comments about it. Would appreciate it if you could help me and the others who are like me. Many thanks :D
@RealMenRealStyle7 жыл бұрын
Good idea for another video :) Socks are mostly an undergarment and aren’t generally supposed to be visible. When they are visible, you want it to be as easy as possible for people to pretend that they aren’t. That means matching the color of your trousers as closely as possible.
@shanepereira89267 жыл бұрын
Real Men Real Style Thanks Antonio! I'll be looking forward to it!

black socks go with almost anything.
@shanepereira89267 жыл бұрын
tIGERtriumph Nothing fashionable about wearing black the whole time.
@MarkShaneHansen7 жыл бұрын
Being fashionable is not always a desired trait. Especially in socks, it's usually better to just go with plain socks and show your individual style in other parts of your outfit. Not that colored or patterned socks can't be done right, but generally it's less preferrable than socks matching your trousers.

Should've also covered which collar types work best for the specific knot. And my favorite knot wasn't listed - the Eldredge. :)

@RealMenRealStyle7 жыл бұрын

@shatteredrift7 жыл бұрын
I'm glad to finally see a tie video, but I'm disappointed that it's this. Half of these knots (Nicky, Oriental, Pratt, Victoria, and Plattsburgh) are uneven and look unprofessional to anyone paying attention. Then three of the others (Saint Andrew, Hanover, and Grantchester) are similar enough to a Full Windsor to be inferior and escape notice. That leaves the large Balthus which is unsuitable to most collars and the subtle Christensen knot as the only two to really bring anything to the table. Except that none of these points are discussed.

I personally do the Double WIndsor (Kinda like Handover), and the Windsor (kinda like the Plattsburgh) for formal occasions, the Half Windsor (kinda like the pratt) for a semi formal-ish no-suit event, and the Cross knot (Christensen) and Four In Hand (Victoria) knot for that casual brat/punk look.
@mcr07417 жыл бұрын
Also, the Windsor and the Double go best with broad formal ties and the Half, the Cross and the Victoria go best with a slim casual tie. :)

@MarkShaneHansen7 жыл бұрын
It seems pretty wide on the screen, so it would probably be best served on a collar with more spread. From these 10 tie knots, the balthus knot is probably my favorite as well, since many of them looked slightly sloppy to me.

Been using the Hanover Knot for decades, most guys don't wear ties anymore , little else know how to tie one. Most guys today don't even shave, guess the bum look is in. Girls in my day never would be seen in public with guys in baggy cloths and unshaven, they had pride in their appearance and wanted the men too also, guess times change.

@johnathanreessink51277 жыл бұрын
ehm, they are uncommon that's right and now i know why: though different in startup, the end result looks just like your regular full Windsor. So that's why not many people use m. Normal people can't tell the difference between them. Why make the effort if nobody can see, except some tie aficionados? If you want really special knots, look up the Eldredge knot, the trinity knot, the Merovingian knot.
