Avoiding these 10 mistakes will massively improve your edits! A lot of this is knowledge rather than skill so all really easy to apply 💻👌

Great tips! Keeping this as a memo: 10 VIDEO EDITING MISTAKES EVERY EDITOR SHOULD KNOW 1. Overusing transitions 2. Poor organisation 3. Flow state editing 4. Not using B-roll (cutaway footage) 5. Using shots for the sake of using shots - not adding to your Story 6. Poor music choice 7. Not using sound effects 8. Poor colour grading 9. Cheap looking graphics 10. Ignoring the 180º rule

Thank you so much Steve. I started my KZbin channel in February, and thus far I have created 35 videos. Even though I have produced quite a bit so far, I am still very much the beginner/amateur. Your tutorials have been so valuable in my learning curve. You reinforce that it is all about fundamentals first before breaking rules and so on. Watching this video, my biggest mistake is color grading. I have definitely gone haywire in a few of my videos, so that is something I must improve upon. I'm looking forward to more learning!

Great vid, giving me a few ideas for future vids. When I load my footage, nothing is too precious that I don't feel like cutting it to a watchable length. After multiple views during editing doesn't bore me, then I feel the viewer isn't put through a laboured clip. Hope in turn this results in a growing following. ATB, great vid AS ALWAYS

Hey Jamie, this is a great mindset to have whilst editing! If I could re-shoot this video, I would add 'TIP 11: Nothing is Too Precious'. Excellent video editing advice, thanks.

Great video. I’m trying to really improve my videos with some of these techniques. My niche is quite a bit different in how it is filmed but I think I can use some of these. Color grading is a big problem for me because I don’t understand how to do it in premiere. Honestly I just click auto for every clip right now.

This is great advice. It is really going to help me thank you. I used the slow mo editing tool too much in one video and in another I put too many quick cut scenes together. Comments were, way too much slow mo and, 2 minutes of my life wasted. Yeah I’m still learning.

05:39 That is funny as hell. By the way, I'm very happy to see that you stress the importance of sound and its impacts. Not everyone realizes just how important the sound aspect is, but it's 'make or break'. I've even noticed that good sound can at times make up for relatively poor video footage. You know, as a recent subscriber, I've been watching your vids of late, and I'm finding them very helpful. They're inspiring me to up the ante in terms of my own video production (which I should have been doing already, tbh). I like that fact that they are straight-forward and utilitarian. The examples of techniques, comparisons, et al... all very, very helpful. Great stuff~!

Many thanks for such an informative and useful presentation of the material! Although my English makes me sad, but I watch videos with subtitles with auto translation, and what do I want to say.. Hi Steve, Fantastic tutorials. So I'm about to use your Epidemic sound link , but what editing platform would you recommend? I've been using caput as a complete beginner, but think I need to move to a better editing platform. Thanks for the footage and Tips. John 👍

Personally, I use Final Cut Pro on a Mac, but this cost around $300 (a one-time payment). I find this program incredibly user-friendly, but with all the professional features. Many others use adobe premiere pro but for me. It is not as user friendly requires a monthly subscription (costing around $30 a month) Once you start to create projects using this program, you kind of have to stick with it as your projects will be within Adobe which you would need to pay for to access Da Vinci Resolve is another great editing program. There is a free and a paid version, my recommendation would be to start with the free version and upgrade to pro once you were happy with how everything works. Hope this helps. Thanks, Steve

what camera to yuse for youtube indor? i was looking maybe a action camera? because of the stedi problem
@LearnOnlineVideo Жыл бұрын
I use the Canon R6 for all my talking head shots (with 16-35mm lens). I use this set up as it’s great in lowlight and has a flip out screen. It’s possible to get a similar shot with an action camera but just be mindful of the cameras lowlight capabilities. If you’re using an action camera indoors then you’ll need a lot of light to avoid a grainy image.
