Idk if you’ll even read this, but awhile back I was watching one of your random game list vids. I can’t remember which one but I just literally clicked anything so my house wouldn’t be silent. I had just gotten the news that my dad was diagnosed with cancer and had kept it secret for more than a month. I had just gotten married the previous month and he didn’t want to “ruin the happiness.” I was blind sided, lost, upset, just kinda treading water and going through the motions. And then your end of the vid message came on. In that moment, it was exactly what I needed to hear. So thank you. Seriously. Keep up the positivity. You never know who you might affect. Ps. Middle-Earth: Shadow of War The story is moving along at a good pace, you have a major moment with Celebrimbor betraying Talion and Talion putting on one of the 9 Rings of Men to stay "alive", and then the story comes to a complete stop and you are forced to grind through capturing all the forts again at even greater difficulty before you actually see the ending of the story.
@jackawatkins875 жыл бұрын
Indeed! Shadow of War (especially after removing the microtransactions) is just brilliant. I spent so much time building up the army on the nemesis system. Even still, the long stretch of defending them all like 7 times was a little much.

Gary Kerwin me too .... I don’t bother if it’s repetitive unless it has some reward .... but in arkham knight all they have is a tedious skill tree to unlock ..... what’s the point of unlocking those if we are not gonna use any ... because we will be at the end of the game . @@dr.sivavignesh664 this is a unpopular opinion but i liked the newly implement tank battles they are awesome it adds in new flavor especially when u get to use them in riddles but the skill tree is kinda flawed one reason is u can't finish the 8 or above point requirement ones unless you do the new save plus or u are really good at chain combo fighting another is u don't get some of the good ones if u focus your efforts on one part which is a bummer because i like to balance things out to a degree

@Atmapalazzo5 жыл бұрын
In a sense yes. But most of the jrpgs listed here didn't need to end because they were too long, they needed to end because the story had a reached a conclusion. It's not about the length, it's about completing your objective only to have something that you haven't built any attachment to thrown in at the end, even if it's only for a small period of time. For example, Final Fantasy IX drags on past when it should end, but only by one additional boss fight. That boss fight however, is really awkward for everything that's happened up to that point.

See, here's where I'm going to have to disagree on Persona 3, that gap in activity was very deliberate. You've won your victory, but for reasons you don't know, you didn't accomplish your goal. The Dark Hour just keeps going and your side's got no ideas. It recreates what the characters are feeling; I'd finally gotten what I wanted the whole time (a few hours to forget about enemies and just build Social Links), yet it all felt so empty.
@mortiphasm68165 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting perspective, but I found the entire stretch from December to January to be less than enjoyable, especially considering that your S.E.E.S. Mortiphasm the stretch from December to January yes is a bit of slog but it was definitely was intentional because everyone in SEES hadn’t come together for a resolve because they were trying to comprehend the information that they will soon meet there fate and throughout December and beginning of January they come together for one unanimous decision they would face death rather then be deluded from it. And so they prepare for the final day and once they overcome the final challenge, it ends on one of the most bittersweet but beautiful endings.

As much as I love the game, Alien: Isolation was really bad about this. You actually defeat the Alien half way through the game, and after a few more hours of gameplay, find out there is more of them. Then it just drags on; you have found a way off the station, no just kidding. You have found the Nostromo flight recorder, no, just kidding. You find another way off the station, no, just kidding. You finally do make it off the station, no just kidding.

Alien: Isolation had like four different times you thought you were having a "final" confrontation only to pull the rug out from under you each time. Think you're about to sell the xenomorph off in a different part of the ship shortly after getting the flame thrower, the one weapon the alien fears? Nope, it escapes your trap. Then you get jettisoned off WITH the alien, and just barely manage to escape as it burns up in atmosphere. You make it back to the ship, victori- oh nope the killer androids went super killer mode so let's pit you against 8 of them at once. That would seem like a good point to end but no, the ship's brain needs a manual check of the maintenance area to shut off the increased security. Oh and what's in the maintenance area? A whole effin alien hive. That's okay, we can just blow that up. Oh well that didn't work because like 6 xenomorphs escaped onto the rest of the ship. Time to hit up an Escape pod and ope there goes the power. So on and so on. It really effectively crushes your hopes each time.

In fairness to Chrono Cross. . . They did have all three of those final bosses name-dropped really early in the game. It's just convoluted and confusing (as all stories involving time travel tend to be) because they are not properly named. Right out of the gate, we are told that there are three forces at work: Lavos, the Dragon Gods, and Lynx. The trouble is that two of them go "MWA-HYA-HYA-HYAAAAH!!! ACTUALLY MY NAME IS-" one right after the other, then we're told that Lavos morphed into the Time Devourer because Princess Whatsit's previous attempt at destroying the entity had the opposite effect. As soon as I saw in those dragon ruins that humans were created by Lavos, I knew I was going to have to kill all three of them. I just wasn't expecting exposition dumps right at the end. The REAL reason Chrono Cross drags on forever is because they decided to give you FIFTY recruitable party members, the vast majority of which have no bearing on the plot whatsoever, but all of which have special moves you need to run around doing something in order to unlock. . . Because, even then, Squaresoft knew we were all a bunch of idiot completionists. . .

Fable 3-You literally spend the bulk of the game finding allies to help you overthrow your tyrant of a brother with an awesome battle through Bowerstone only to be told "by the way, I'm not the final boss after all". Honestly I always felt "The Crawler" arc should have been dlc especially with how short it was compared to the rest of the game.P.s. still love this game though!!!!P.P.s even the trailer was about overthrown your brother.

Chrono Cross? P3? .hack? Thank you Whatculture. Even in an antagonistic list, it's good seeing JRPG stuff being talked about.

In the commentary, Ken Lavine said that they sucked at making boss battles and were aware that Atlas wasn't a great fight (and that chaperone mission at the end...ugh). Still, the story, weapons, gameplay, everything else is just great.

I genuinely enjoyed Yggdra Union, but i have to wholeheartedly agree that the "final" boss was a bit fleshed out and unnecessary, but i just thought of it as a DLC story extension as with a lot of JRPGs do and somehow managed to enjoy playing it. Do play Yggdra if you have the time but be warned that it is a long ass game.

You missed Metal Slug 3. I love the game, but the last stage is a massive slog that feels like it's the length of 3 normal levels. I remember playing it and continuously thinking "is this the end yet?" Also Fire Emblem: Three Houses. While one playthrough of the game doesn't drag on, that's only one of four routes in the game. Seeing everything through means beating Crimson Flower, Azure Moon, Verdant Wind, and Silver Snow. On top of this at the bare minimum you'll have to play through part one, White Clouds, at least three times, as Azure Moon and Verdant Wind are locked in as your path between the first and second mission. On top of this, it's possible to miss the event that is required to start Crimson Flower.

Thank you Jules. Now I have no clue if any of you from what culture will look at this comment but I want to say this. Thank you Jules. At the end when you talk about mental health it has been what pushes me to actually try and find help.

Honestly I dont feel like the Tack on of Frank Fontaine at the end was Bad, because he wasn't going to stay in Rapture, he was going to take all that he plundered from Rapture go top side and become a captain of industry selling adam and plasminds, so he had to be stopped, the problem is he got a taste of the Adam and got instantly hooked on the stuff and essentially Over dosed into a Big Hulking Mutant. It all makes perfect Sense to the story and doesnt feel like its tacked on. Also the only reason he did use adam was because he knew he couldnt defeat jack because he created him to be a weapon, like everything about Frank Fontaine and the ending make 100 percent Sense lol

I don't want to record beating "Arkham Knight" because I do not want to get all those trophy's or do those tank battles again, but I probably will, it is a good game overall

I was so satisfied with the golf club and the transformation that I didn't care about The Fontaine Ending.

I tried giving Wind Wanker(!) a proper playthrough, but the Triforce fetch quests really killed it for me. And it doesn't help that I was one of those who were waiting for a game that resembled the Tokyo Space Game trailer from the early 2000's
