G'day folks - after living with the Mercedes Benz E63 for a while, I found there were a few things i liked better about owning my Holden VE Calais V. Goes to show - a higher price doesn't equal superiority!

Cheers Peter, glad you enjoyed it mate! I have always loved AMGs but they were so bloody expensive compared the aussie stuff - so became a Holden/HSV fan by virtue of affordability. But believe it or not, this shape E63 was cheaper than an equivalent GTS of the same year, so I jumped at it. Just hope the M157 doesn't let me down!! Cheers - Marc!

Great video! I've got a 9 year old VW, finding it very difficult to part with it as so many nice features that still aren't standard in newer cars. The kids love the heated rear seats!

G'day Laura - thanks for popping over!! Haha once you have had a feature like that it's hard not to have it again isn't it! Not many cars have rear seat heat - so it's going to be a tough assignment to replace it - or the kids will just need to harden up! I remember when my dad replaced his fully loaded Fairlane with a VR Commodore as a company car - no power windows, no sunroof, no electric ariel, as a 9 year old I was inconsolable...but i got over it!

@@MeatballGarage I went from a 2017 Holden Spark down to a Mazda 3 2008 BK series 2 2008 but it was a bigger safer car in the process using insurance payout money after a Mercedes Prime mover truck ran up the backside rendering it a total loss/write off.I love the CD Player 6 stacks,the extra performance and how the bigger engine can get me out of trouble fast plus the abs and four wheel disc brakes.what I hated was every time things needing fixing it costed small money here and there to get things right.my only gripe was it had more owners than I would have liked.I would have liked a Golf or a BMW 3 series but the upkeep would have killed me.

My 2005 E55 has that foot rest as standard. Maybe it had to be optioned by the owner at extra cost.Typical of Mercedes.They went backwards on the indicator switch too. It's premium on the E55. And my E55 gets no recognition in oz either, like all other muscle cars do. I now park it outside at the car events. Even the security guards shoo me away if I attempt to get into one LMAO! Great vid and congratulations on passsing 1k subs!!!

MR GT!! Mate would love to compare your W211 to my W212 - I reckon you got more comfy seats on top of better stalk and foot rest. Wonder what else they went full tight ae$e on! The E55 is the ultimate wolf in sheep’s clothing. Too bad for those who walk past your machine without knowing what it is mate! Their loss haha!! @@MeatballGarage when I come Melbourne we'll do a colab video or two and compare the W211 to your W212. Your channel is very underrated. Your vocabulary, description and humour and content is second to none. It's real pro level!😎 You will get big at some stage. Especially if overseas viewers get a sniff of your channel! They'll watch you for your Aussie style , accent, vocab and humour let alone the car content. Just keep at it! 👍

Went from an awesome au xr8 falcon to a ba xr6 turbo. The au was amazing and I kicked myself for selling it every time the ba broke down and left me on the side of the road.

G'day mate! Bugger, what was it on the BA that let you down? I thought those Turbo Barras were bulletproof?? The AU V8 would have been a very nice car to drive - not as well appointed I reckon compared to the equivalent SS, but way better on the road with the superior IRS. I hope the E63 doesn’t bite me in the backside 😬 Cheers - Marc

@@MeatballGarage Au was a way better built car and handled nicer as well. In the space of 30 000kms I had the powersteering pump leak killing my alternator, plastic heater hose joints let go stranding me in the middle of nowhere, plastic transmission shifter break off stranding me in reverse in a red rooster drive through, diff rebuild, suspension busshes, front steering vibrations caused by a faulty brake booster, stuffed coil packs and plenty more. Most Issues were caused by ford cheaping out on stuff. Im a ford man but it was the biggest piece of junk car ever.

@@threefiftyone4726 bugger me! I have heard some of those but not to this extent! Its the worst when the car leaves you stranded doesn't it - really makes you hate the thing! once is fair enough but yeah twice is a pain - how much was your tow home from the middle of nowhere? I had a few similar issues with my VE, including 2 alternators, the second one died cause I didn't tighten up the power steering stuff enough and it leaked and killed the replacement....which happened at a mates holiday house on a Sunday night....700 bucks to tow it home..Grrrrr

@@threefiftyone4726 I know a bloke that was an engineer on the AU program. He swears by them, said they had so few issues compared to the VT at the time (proven through some industry reporting at the time) - but no one cared cause they failed at the styling.

I know right! This definitely wasn’t designed with Australian road trips in mind. Feels like it was one of those German efficiency things - ' one drink per passenger is enough, any more is completely unnecessary!'
