After living through the great ice storm of 1998 I can tell you it was rough. We were without power for 21 days in January. We were cold, thirsty, hungry and scared. A friend who was a Scout leader but who was outside our area cam over to help me. Firstly, we hung blankets to "box in" our living room. This helped keep the room warmer. We used a lot of candles & oil in our oil lamps. We used battery powered radios. We made a lot of errors. This really helped prepare us for SHTF scenarios.

I'm in socal and after the recent quakes, it's been a major thing I've thought about. The shooting buddy's response? (And this is a 2nd amendment shooter who knows as much about rifles as I do and a heck of a lot more about ammo...) He said "Well if anything goes down, first thing I'm doing is coming to your property." I laughed a bit and said "Why? Want to test my aim?" He chuckled a moment and went kinda quiet.

No water, most food that is canned has water. If you heat a potato that's wrapped in a piece of paper in a microwave (test it when there is electricity) you will notice the paper gets WET. Most fruits and vegetables have water unless dehydrated. The water tank of the toilet is clean since it hasn't moved to the toilet. In other words, there are many ways to prevent death in 3 days. Learn about plants, most medications are chemicals mixed together to imitate the benefits of plants. Any one watching this online on KZbin (as in everyone) just type homemade water filtration, homemade humanure toilets, benefit of plants, etc. You don't know how to do something, it's here. Just don't wait and start to day. There, problem solved. lol

@carmenortiz52947 жыл бұрын
Allison Calzada FYI, did you see "test it when there is electricity"? That is why I have many ways to cook that don't use electricity. Solar cookers very easy to make - simple ones: cardboard and aluminum foil. Try the solar cooking.org web site. Most plans simple enough for poor people all over the world to make. That's not the only place you can find the. Rocket stove - a few bricks (or more if you want it bigger), a few cans or not, a small aluminum cake pan to collect the ashes or not, a piece of metal with holes (could be thick foil with holes punched in to hold the wood and small pieces of wood. In my case wood that drops from my oak trees. It's all here on KZbin. (There are many other ways.) Same with lighting the home. Stock up on the cheap solar lights for the yard (some as low as one dollar) and then modify them. Example I used some canning jars and the rings, (the stands they come with are not needed) glued the round base of the lights on the ring to seal it so water doesn't go in the jar when outside, let them charge when it's sunny and bring them in (or if you are lucky and have a kitchen garden window, put them there to charge during the day. (Instruction here on KZbin) They don't last all night through but you should be asleep by then. Also get some solar chargers for rechargeable batteries for use with conventional flashlights or best of all some cheap led "flashlights" that are used in workshops. Plus of course, the candles, lanterns etc.

One thing people always forget is that most houses in the US has a hot water tank which would be able to supply a family of 4 enough drinking water for 30 days. In addition the first thing you should do when SHTF is full every bucket can and cup with water from the tap and cover it with foil or plastic wrap. In ten minutes with four people buckets you should be able to easily acquire 20+ gallons of clean drinkable water.

Great video! I think that you hit them all, and in order of probability. I do consider another option to supplement the three options you mentioned for what to do about family and friends that come to you for assistance. That is to take them in, but put them to work. Unless they are profoundly disabled, everyone has something they can do to contribute, whether it's menial tasks or unskilled labor to free up others for other more specialized or harder tasks, or they have those specialized skill sets that can be very useful to the group, they can earn their keep. Things like shelter, potable water, food, energy, child management, sanitation, and security are all constant ongoing tasks until a comfortable surplus can be generated, and of those all take manpower. The only question is, can your temporary supplies hold out until production comes up? Lack of timely access to modern medical care is the number one killer after the disaster hazard itself has passed. I cannot stress medical preparedness enough.

you're prepping channel is my favorite channel because a lot of people are doomsday and you are very serious about staying in place and holding your ground and I really like that cuz that's what I would do too! I have lived through to category 4 hurricanes and I have hunkered down in place and did what I could with what I had. The whole street was evacuated except for me and my pets. One time I lived ten days without AC, all alone except for my animals. The next time the category 4 came through the lights stayed on and fried all the appliances. Lesson learned! Unplug during a storm, even if the lights stay on there are problems that can happen! I'm still in the process of placing my appliances 3 yrs later. FEMA wouldn't help me at all. If FEMA wouldn't help three years ago, do you want us really think fema is going to help you now? Nope! We eventually cleaned up the debris but it took us 2 yrs. I've got my washer on a power strip and I will I unplug my dryer. I will have a small backup microwave. I just checked and my rice cooker needed to be replaced so I did it. There's an old saying whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. This virus thing is test. It will kill all the stupid people that don't know how to listen. (Don't worry I got plenty my share of tinfoil hat jokes slung at me in the past 3 years). It will kill their family and friends, and the nurses & doctors that take care of them! (Inadvertently). It's going to wipe out a lot of our seniors and homeless, in the most vulnerable people in our society who do not have smart preppers as friends. It's actually worse than the one in 1918 because it spread so fast all over the globe! We all must stay in place now so your website really addresses those needs! I have always maintained that it is better to hunker down with what you have then to get in your car and make yourself more vulnerable with thousands of other people around you and this is a prime example of that! For this and for YOU, I am extremely grateful!

I've been really appreciating your videos. Thank you for being thoughtful and idea -rather than gear- oriented. I had one idea for how to deal with the fact that not everyone is prepared and people will come looking for help. We just had a tornado right in our neighborhood a month ago that damaged many of our neighbors houses, and I was struck by how everyone's reaction was to show up and help. This has got me thinking that something I have not yet heard from the prepping community is how to prepare to form a community where tools and resources are shared and strategically invested in so that while there might not be enough of everything, you can offer something to everyone. I live in a rural, tight-knit community in New England, so I recognize that this makes me have certain advantages in this already. But things that come to mind are installing a hand pump at your house so that everyone can come and use it. Figuring out which fields could be used to grow crops and understanding how to do that. I have a planet junior walk-behind seeder from my days as a vegetable farmer that I keep not because I need it with my family sized garden but because it is the sort of tool that would really make a difference in such a scenario. Planting a surplus of fruit trees or nut trees, maybe not even on your own property would be another long-sighted thing you could do to increase the options for everyone in the future. Many things like raspberries are easily divided each spring so making every landscape more productive for food and medicine is a good practical step. Having the skills to teach other people how to hunt, forage, raise animals, do all sorts of things are ways that people can come together and while you may not be able to give someone some of your own supplies you could give them some knowledge that would help them tremendously. Perhaps you could do a video on this!
@rayc.13967 жыл бұрын
I could make this real long, but will just put out a few of the small things I see and understand. To begin, you live within 100 miles of a large city or 200 miles of a very large city. You have a problem, people are going to flow from the cities to where ever they can find people who will hopefully feed and shelter them. Next come the storage of food, you are going to have enough food to feed those who come and take what you have for how ever long it lasts THEM. When SHTF you better have a place to go that you have stocked with food and whatever else you need to survive. The forest is not that place, that is where most people will go, if you want to live, go where people are less likely to go. I'll respond to other YT posts as time passes if you are interested.
@finitewehosh65427 жыл бұрын
My friends and I live in a rural area and that was actually a concern we thought about. We are only a mile away from a city with a population of of a million people (which isn't huge, but its still a lot of people), and a major highway runs past our community. It took a lot of planning to figure out the ideal bug out location and how to address the hordes of people who want food and shelter. Our general agreement was go where very few people know about, that is difficult to access and locate, and is able to provide adequate sentry and is unlikely for people to stumble across.
@rayc.13967 жыл бұрын
I live in a rural area with the closest metro area about 75 miles away and 2 other larger metros 150+ miles.While these may not be a real problem for us, they are still a threat. We considered bugging to a large forest, but decided against that, as many others are thinking the same thing, easy sheltering, food on the hoof, and other aspects they believe will work in their favor. In my local travels, I have found 2 places that are a walk in situation with small streams running through each, these steams are only above ground for about a half mile each, both are on a hillside near the top with extremely steep terrain on the back side, that means defensible. These areas are about 10 miles from where we live and about 3 miles apart. This seems good because we can stock both and still be able to use from both places.
@finitewehosh65427 жыл бұрын
Ray C. Unfortunately for us we don't have that luxury. We may be in the mountains but we are next to a major highway and only 80 miles from a major city. Plus there is a scenic road in our area that people might head to. Our plan is to take advantage of an off road trail too rough for most vehicles. Even 4 wheel drive vehicles will struggle. It's about a two day drive, or a week on horse back. Double that in the winter. But the location we have in mind is largely unknown, secured, and extremely difficult to get to. We've practiced bugging out before, but there is only so much we can prepare for. No matter how well hid we are, there is a chance someone might stumble across it. No matter how many times we practice bugging out, something could go wrong. Horse is injured, car breaks down, someone never shows. You can only prepare for so much.

Finite Wehosh Its not going to be a question of going deeper into the woods, what are you running from? Until we know that, home may be as good a place as any, lock up and stay secure. We are assuming government problems, how about a super volcano, 9.5 earth quake, invasion by a foreign power or the UN? All the prep we can do isn't going to make any difference till we know what is happening. Being prepared for every thing is good, food water & ammo, where you might go & how much time to get there if you can get there a all.

Great video. Option #4. If you have a neighbor you're hesitant about and know will be potentially dangerous/violent and needy in a grid down situation, ask them for food first. This will hopefully deter them from seeking yours.

Man, most of these points are those I've tried to express to my husband. He goes for the lone wolf mentality but I'm the only one doing any practical work - water, food storage... he's gone for a while now so I'm going to get a lot done as I await his return. When economics were hard, he and I grew up without heat in the winter, electricity in the summer, and sometimes both gone for months at the same time. My goal is to have enough water stored, and a proper method well practiced, to do the same without water. Both in shape, both love the idea of never having to use these skills... Both loving the peace of mind these skills and practices give us. Good work.

1. There are 4 small natural springs near my bug out spot 2. We hunt and I have plenty of meat that can be smoked after thawing to preserve it 3. No one in my family needs meds except for a diabetic and that can be managed through diet (keto) 4. We are all blue collar and dont sit at a desk all day and go fishing and hunting on weekends and chop wood a lot 5. We have a few nurses in our immediate family and most of us arent sheltered and get cuts in the outdoors all the time. 6. Dont shit where you eat. 7. We have more firepower than the local sheriffs office and most of us are former military and law enforcement 8. We live in the mountains and as outdoorsmen and sportsmen we are use to using survival skills to keep us alive. 9. Thankfully we always stay stocked up on wood with a few cords always blocked and we have a canvas tent with a wood stove. 10. We arent city folks and we arent rich. Hard work and poverty have made us strong minded and strong willed

How to handle sanitation if the plumbing/toilet stops working: keep a supply of newspaper handy. Lay a sheet or two of newspaper on the floor, squat over it like you are taking a dump in the woods, pee in a #10 (coffee can). Roll/fold up newspaper and carry it to an out of the way disposal spot and cover it from flies. Burning it in a wood stove is also quite sanitary and efficient if you have plenty of wood.
@MetallicReg7 жыл бұрын
This is not really helpful to prevent e-coli from spreading everywhere. A much more effective way for a safe emergency toilet is a storage of alcohol (any kind but rubbing alc could serve multiple uses). Just take a bucket and fill it a bit with alcohol and voila - any type of feces and pee will: 1. drop beneath the layer of alcohol (it does not float) 2. instant universal sanitation 3. effective prevention of bad odors (no surface evaporation and no gas production) - this point is crucial for the overall moral and well being You don't need that much alcohol for that and it lasts for a long time.

if you want a simple way to make your soap last longer, try this: If you use DAWN or other soaps to do dishes, mix 3 parts of water to 1 part DAWN and mix it well. Pour into the type of pump dispenser that 'foams' out the soap. Works great. So, 1 bottle of DAWN makes 4 bottles of hand soap. Not my idea, but I'll share it. :)

The theme that ran through my mind throughout your video was, "prepare your mind." Your brain is the one thing that you will have with you no matter what the circumstance. Butt naked? Brain on hand... check! So, train your brain: learn learn learn. If you are going to survive off the land, then learn how to do it. If you are going to prep and bug in, learn how to do it. If you plan to defend yourself with firearms, learn how to do it. Whatever your take on survival, learn how to do it. Learn the one thing that the globalist system has been trying to pound out of you... become self reliant. With that mindset, you can make it.

I am Canadian. During the Cold War I found out the small city I live in was considered a refugee city. (A city in Canada is any berg with more than 20k people.) The city has a militia regiment, an airport, it sits astride a major highway and has a pier that can accommodate medium sized cargo ships. Simply put, this is the place you go when you bug out. The governments, local, provincial and federal could quickly expand and secure these facilities. I assume that similar towns must exist within the U.S.A. Prepping for citizens of my age group (over 65) must be practical. Being able to organize and re-establish "the grid" is important. Thus prepping for 30 to 90 days gives time for people to organize and bring to bare the necessary engineering talent all cities have.

Even tho I'm not a serious prepper I have always wondered if it would be smarter to stay put in a city or suburban area and scavenge for supplies, especially if my group has a number and firepower advantage, instead of trying to go into the woods or a rural area. I have always worried if I go to a rural area I am not familiar with and not really accustomed to I wouldn't be able to survive at all especially since anybody who lived in a rural area would have a massive advantage over me. I have always told myself if something did go down I would stay in my area since I have I know it for decades and have more connections there. What do you think?
@tylertaveritt67987 жыл бұрын
Not only that but my biggest fear is just traveling to the rural area in the first place, it seems like that would be a extremely vulnerable position

When it comes to having poeple, just make damn sure they are al lthe kidns of people you'd lend 1000 bucks to in aheart beat. If you can't do that, then thats not trust yet. Plenty of cities are far easier to survive in when you know them, as are some well prepared rural positions. Most military American experiance knows that cities are a hell hole to attack and even harder to take and hold, and that's with carpet bombing. Cities have sewers, replacement parts, and recruits. Infrastructure that is wrecked can be salvaged. The problem come swhen you don't have ANY rural experience and you are in a city, the idea is to try and limit risk and one of the best ways to do that is know what to do when you have much less, cities by nature have a lot and poeple find it hard to divorce the diea of stuff = less skill beucase for the most part, it's right. Stalingrad, Serejevo, the various enclaves in Iraq. Thats what modern warfare has most issue with. I think people go back to vietnam in thier minds and assume that the moment they go rural that they will suddenly become VC sappers who can night fight, sneak and make do when it hasn't been thier lifestyle. Plenty of useless farmers out there too, take thier deisel tractor s and govt rebates and they can't stand it. Just map your area, don't raid anything that isn't abondoned, treat people well, get fit, get educated, keep working hard, kll ALL debt asap (if it put's you in debt you CANT afford it so don't do it), do normal life things and when you can do, go on hike/campouts and try and learn some basic contruction. Do paitnball and airsoft, etc, Just have some fun. That will serve you more than some prick in tacticool school trying to tell you who'se a 'liberal sheep' and talking about Jeysus comming back.

A firearm and the knowledge and ability to use it will be essential. The water situation will be essential, Google "backpack water filter" to have a look at some filters that are packable and will have very large purification possibilities, remember, a gallon a day per person is 30 gallons a month. Chlorine bleach will work in a pinch and sometimes it will be useful to make the water more palatable. Remember though, bleach has a shelf life.

@rvz778 жыл бұрын
CTROCK this video that he posted has a central idea. STAY AWAY FROM PPL. when PPL are desperate, they do desperate things. stay away from the city. the cities will be a free for all. high populated locations will spread out. similar to hurricane routes being blocked up. look up the book "strategic relocation". very helpful in explaining best places to go & why. find a rural place where you can fish, hunt, live, SURVIVE. but also practice NOW those skills. BE MOBILE. get your body used to doing the physical labor of OLD DAYS, where PPL were much more fit than today. that's a hell of a good start
@rvz778 жыл бұрын
CTROCK the society we live in is a brainwashed lazy fantasy. that's why when the bubble is burst, even for a short period of time, ppl will freak out & panic. ppl have become LITERALLY useless compared to old days. I'm in city too unfortunately. not by choice. listen to the news & get that SAWYER water filter. it's like $20 at Walmart. I go hiking & it's awesome product. I HIGHLY recommend it. *the BEST WAY to be prepared is to put yourself in that reality. I mean, go camping, go hiking for a weekend. live without a chair, central heat, running water, etc. & it'll put things into perspective. this isn't totally alien to humans. it's been done since the beginning of time. we've only forgot it the past 100 years. hope this helps you brother.

As a prepper with a wife on disability, the medication issues scare me the most. We try to set aside a few pills every month and build up a stockpile. This can be especially difficult when she doesn't always agree with my mind set, but she gives in to my desires to be prepared for the eventuality we may face. We also have developed strategies for OTC and supplements to help ease the various withdrawal symptoms and the like in a strict rationing of what we have on hand if / when a disaster should strike. There are certainly less legal methods to attain things and we stock various legal trade/barter goods now Incase there is a chance to trade in the emergency. It'll likely cost dearly, but what can you do?
@acerrubrum57498 жыл бұрын
The people on medication should ask the Dr. for a 1 month emergency supply in case of ---insert natural disaster here that occurs in your area--- or another reason Dr.s will take is, say you are going out of town and could you have an extra month while traveling or go for a refill every 10 weeks instead of 12 weeks/3months and save the two weeks, do it every second refill and no one will notice. This will not work with opioids/pain meds.
@peteaskme89268 жыл бұрын

Pete Askme I worked in the retail pharmacy setting & have dealt with insurance plans countless times. most plans allow a set amount of vacation supplies, &/or lost medication. dependent upon your plan parameters, they may pay for it. you just need to INQUIRE about it. Friend is a grossly overused term. Neighbors are simply people who live close to you. It is highly unlikely that they are truly friends. They don't care about you, and other than normal compassion for another human being, you don't have any responsibility to care about them. The only people who matter are you, and your immediate family. Others don't even factor into the equation. Good solid advice. Thank you for sharing.

***** Granted, we are talking about a fictional character, but I have to disagree with your last statement. She instigated others to offer a human sacrifice, but she herself was not a killer, she did not kill anyone. And she genuinely believed in what she ranted, so that does not make her a liar. The sacrifice was to supposed to protect the rest of the neighbors so not sure about not loving her neighbors either... Frankly I am very confused about what to make of her, and I have to admit I can't hate her for what she did in the movie. To me she was a twisted version of a Christian who was desperate to make sense of what's going on. Besides, the Bible also has a description of human sacrifice (one's own son), to test their belief in God.

Hey, nice video, but for 04:40 - just use a saw man! I mean a manual saw. There is a reason these have been invented during the middle ages. Store two types of saw blades: small teeth for dry wood and coniferous trees, large teeth for fresh hardwood. One saw blade can bring at least 5-10 large fruit trees down, if handled carefully. Store 5 of each type, they only cost about $2 each. Have a sturdy frame for the saw. Although some woodsmen would contradict, forget felling a tree with an axe. It is a waste of your energies. Use a saw, and save the axe for splitting wood along the grain (it's really great at that) or splitting looter's skulls...

Security, you must be able to protect your family, yourself, & your supplies. Firearms and the training on those firearms is a must. The PC world can get you killed. Get a pistol.380 or bigger. 9mm and .45acp are the most popular so ammo will be affordable. It doesn't matter what brand just get one and train with in "every month". Get a rifle; preferably an AR15 or an AK47 type rifle the ammo is cheap, everyone's just about got one, so you will be able to find ammo in SHTF situations. Train every month!! Yes; you are going to have to kill to protect your family & yourself. Come to reality that when it happens people will be desperate and evil. Get you mind wright now, and you will survive.

most people honestly have zero clue about how easy it is to manufacture your own bullets, hell every competition shooter i shoot with who takes the sport seriously makes there own rounds. i can pump out nearly 100 rounds of 9mm in under an hour on my multistage press with ease. and i have my cost down to 10-12cents a round for 9mm ;)

Well, do you know how to make black powder, make casings from scratch? Make the projectiles and primters from scratch? No.
@gureno197 жыл бұрын
Conex Xenon lol....black powder? really? im not fighting with a musket, maybe try Pyrodex or triple seven. every competition shooter in the world who competes regularly....will have a dillon press or lee press in their workshop, guarenteed, and we all have bulk quantities of brass,primers,projectiles and powder. its what makes it so cost effective. maybe educate yourself next time, you clearly dont shoot or understand what goes into a reloading process, as its a VERY common practice in competitive shooting circles.

Love your videos! Especially the fact that you prep for realistic things... not that the "other things" aren't realistic. It just makes explaining why I buy extra stuff and have go bags for my family members makes my kids not stare at me if I'm crazy ( we lived in WA state for awhile). Having moved back to hurricane central.. we have weathered our first major hurricane here.. my kids we're thankful for my go bags with card games, water bottles and the e tea 5 gallons of water I had to flush the toilet! No power/water line broke down the street. I laughed and stated" now how crazy is mom now???"

A tent inside will help keep you warm; with some canned heat (sterno). grow sprouts learning about wild edables and even grass can be eaten. Locate closest water source and have plenty of strong garbage bags, for waste disposal. A shovel to dig an outhouse, is real handy. Barter items like wooden matches and extra blankets and coats and always have comfortable hiking footwear.

3:54 Step 1: get off your "medication".
@markrushton637 жыл бұрын
Not all of us can do that.Myself for instance.I would survive a couple years,maybe,but I would be getting increasingly sick & die.It's one of the reasons I did not want to start the Meds. I'm on,but,I've added 10-15 years by doing so.

You should only wing yourself off of meds you truly don't need.
@hitssquad7 жыл бұрын
Mr. Note ...Which would be any "med" you weren't on when you were 25.
@citrusflavored7 жыл бұрын
Um... What is your reasoning behind this? I agree there are a lot of meds out there that are completely unnecessary in a survival situation, but what does the age that you started the meds have anything to do with it? Personally I can "survive" (as in continue to be alive) without my meds, but without them there's a high likelihood of becoming a disabled person given a bit of time passes, which would certainly decrease chances of survival. What gives people the impression that everyone's meds are just things like antidepressants? You might be surprised how many sick people there are out there. The conversation is pointless. Anyone with a brain knows what they truly need or don't need. Besides, meds expire. There's only so much a person can prep in that area to begin with.

I'm having some luck with hazelnut trees. In 2009, some new hazelnut trees were put on sale to the public. They are verities that don't need to be sprayed for bugs or disease: Jefferson, Yamhill and Eta. new hazelnut varieties from Oregon State University. I ordered them just two years ago, and they came in the mail as thin twigs with live roots in a little bag. They were as thin as my pinky finger. Now, they are over six feet tall, and quite a bit thicker than my thumb. The only thing I do to care for them is give them water and remove weeds. They are growing like crazy and have zero signs of insect damage or disease. They stat bearing nuts just three to five years after planting. When mature, they produce a bushel of nuts per tree. Better yet, a lot of people may not know that you are growing lots of food in your yard if you have these trees. The nuts are covered up by leaves on the tree. When you only have a little bit of land, fruit and nut trees are the way to go. You get the most amount of food, for the least amount of space. You don't have to worry about planting seeds every year either.

Generally, I like CP, but there is no shit, there is no fan, and Mad Max is a cartoon character. Prep for what's real, people. Otherwise prepping for SHTF is like fly fishing - a harmless, yet expensive hobby with zero results.
@mortarpestle.42677 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you mean, really. Most (unreasonable) preppers think SHTF is shooting Zombies and bathing in marauder blood, which is obviously not true. I think CP gas a good idea what the REAL threats are when SHTF, but other preppers, like The prepared mind are absolute Neocon traditionalist anti-government gun nuts who think food, water, women, children and anything other than a weapon are useless and parasitic. Fortunately, they won't get very far.

It happened long ago, Eric. Yes, it is possible. But, if you are so scared of such happening, why the Hell are you on KZbin reprimanding someone?
@hamstsorkxxor7 жыл бұрын
Eric It USED to be possible, 15+ years ago. Now thanks to satellites, improved routines and solar whether forecasts we will have upwards of one week of warning, in case of a Carrington Event (i.e. major solar coronal mass ejection). So pretty much nothing will happen. Transformers and power plants and other infrastructure will disconnect from the power grid for the duration of the event (8-72 hours). The induced current from a CME caused magnetic storm is dependent on the wavelength of the EM-fluctuations and the length of the conductor, so anything not connected to the grid will be fine, so you don't need to worry about your phone, car, computer etc. The three true SHTF scenarios that has any probability of happening are MAD-style nuclear exchange, major vulcanism, and pandemics. And out of those, the MAD scenario is the one that's both somewhat likely to occur, sudden and severe. Pandemics do not destroy infrastructure, and are likely to hit the main population harder, rather than the governing parts of society, so there is unlikely to turn into complete anarchy. Further anything that spreads and kills fast is likely to burn it self out and get quarantined. Anything that shows symptoms slowly is unlikely to spread fast (because there is a correlation between pathogen load, symptoms and spreading) Major vulcanism, think Yellowstone or equal, is far fetched, and would give us years of warning.

As a 4th option I like the idea of helping people to help themselves, sharing information on how to obtain food, water, heat etc. as an example, there are a lot of edible plants that grow wild. Sharing information is a way to protect yourself, if you have knowledge on how to survive that can help them more than your food would you can make yourself a valuable friend and help build a sense of community, together with your neighbors you stand a better chance of survival.
@Ackbar2237 жыл бұрын
Knowing how to make charcoal or other commodities that you can trade or share with others is another example. If the most valuable commodity you have is knowledge then it can't be stolen from you.

Excellent video and very thought provoking! It really is a deep topic. I am about the ONLY one in my family preparing. The others are in la-la land but my hubby is slowly coming around. He's been supportive of things I've done over the past couple of years. I will say this, having an alternative form of heat in my climate has been good training these past couple of years along with a way of collecting and storing water which does NOT rely on power or the utilities. It is a bit of extra work, but if we ever have a SHTF, it will be business as usual. I try and educate people as much as possible without giving my preps away. That said, I think it is prudent to fly beneath the radar and gradually seek out other like minded folks.
