Eli Drake (L.A. Knight) & Percy Pringle III was definitely a gem pairing during that era of NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. I remember this being the era when he was 1st on my radar. Between NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood & PPW (Paragon Pro Wrestling) he was easily in my Top 5 Favorites from both promotions at that time. Really wish more of his PPW run was available to watch on KZbin.

To be truthful, Sunny did not "guide" three teams to championships. She guided The Bodydonnas, then when they lost the titles she dumped them and began managing the team that beat them, then when they lost she dumped them too and managed the team that beat them as well.

Reminds me of a manager gimick that I thought up a couple years ago: when the manager is at ringside for their client, the client never loses. Gin up various reasons for them to not get to the ring. Beaten up back stage. Miss their flight. Locked in a shark cage. Doesn't matter, you're only going to be using maybe one of these per month. And then, once their guy has the title for a while -the manager betrays their client & they keep up their own personal winning streak.

Here are some wrestlers and wrestling tag teams or groups that spoke well enough in and out of the square to promote themselves or generate fan interest and excitement and engagement and no need for any managers. 1. 4 Horsemen of all versions 2. Harlem Heat 3. Masters of The Power Bomb 4. Money Inc 5. LOD WCW version 6. LOD WWE version 7. Rock N Roll Express both WCW and WWE versions 8. Fabulous Free Birds 9. The American Patriots (as long as Hacksaw Jim Dugan is quiet the rest spoke eloquently enough lol 😂) 10. Hulk Hogan 11. Ric Flair 12. Dean Malenko 13. The Hart Foundation 14. Brett Hart 15. Owen Hart 16. Booker T 17. Paul Orndorff 18. Stevie Ray 19. Ron Simmons 20. Too Cold Scorpio 21. Fire & Ice because Teddy Long managing too many tag teams at the same time as was Rob Parker and no need really. 23. Rob Van Damme didn’t need a manager 24. Psychosis needed no manager 25. Ray Mysterio after losing his mask. These are just some examples from what I know of or saw in late 80s and growing up in 90s and early 2000s. Some I saw briefly and not much but still made no sense to have a manager or two ringside coaches or speakers. It just made no sense. I realize some wrestling teams and wrestlers are before my time but aware of their existence due to in the 1990s Turner Networks would replay old wrestling footage of NWA/AWA/WCCW/Smokey Mountain Wrestling/St. Louis Wrestling along with older WCW matches and not just show clips of recent PPV events either like WWE or WWF at the time was notorious for and still stunk because would be disingenuous as opposed to WCW and Turner Sports. WWE in its attempt to make wrestling more inclusive and entertaining and appealing and accessible actually has somehow ruined a great entertaining show and eventually in 20-30 years there may be no wrestling, at least non Olympic wrestling or staged wrestling or choreography wrestling on television or streaming platforms or whatever.
@jerrylloyd197311 ай бұрын
My ? Is that your talking about managers of late 90's, what do say about the 70's,80's and early 90's? Like the grand wizard, Freddy blassy. Arnold Schoen and last captain Lou albado. That manage some of the great. That I grew up with from the mid-seventies.
