Before the coffee get cold was so beautiful and heartfelt! Also, does anyone else get distracted by how stunning Jean's eyebrows are in every video?

I laughed out loud when you whispered atmospheric for the last time. And I don't think it's cheeky at all to recommend a book before you completely finish it - especially if it's a romance book which is unlikely to have a twist ending that has the potential to "spoil" the book.

I loved Before the Coffee gets Cold! it is indeed slow and quiet, just how you described it, but there's just something about it... It's one of my favourite books of the year. And The Thirteenth Tale is great too! I still have Once Upon a River to read by this author, I think that one might be perfect for winter.

Once Upon a River begins on the winter solstice - it is perfect for winter!

This year your recommendations have led to me reading all three of The Mirror Visitor books, several of Grace Draven's novels plus many others. Thank you so much for that. xx

I'd recommend The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser (MG) and We Are Okay (YA) for winter! I'm also currently reading A Charles Dickens Christmas which has 3 Christmas stories and is perfect for getting in the holiday spirit.

I am currently reading Early Riser by Jasper Fforde. I figured it was a perfect winter read especially as I live in Florida and it is currently 74 degrees (24 celsius). I mean, for me, that's a bit chilly and I have to wear a sweater. Nice recommendations to check out when I am done with Fforde. I love Hogfather!

I really enjoyed Hagseed, I agree it has quite wintery vibes. A book I enjoyed that has great wintery atmosphere is Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik.

Ooh yeah I need to give Spinning Silver a try at some point - Novik's books always seem to be hit or miss for me aha.

The two books I always considered to be winter reads are The Golden Compass and The Secret History. And I'm glad Before the Coffee Gets Cold is a winter read as well, since I ordered it online the other day! Lovely video

Just figured I'd say since I didn't see anyone else comment that Truly Devious takes place in Vermont, USA! New England is basically Canada though, so it's also freezing here - but it's such a wonderful depiction of where I live (in New England) that I felt like I had to correct what you said the setting was!

Oooh I loved this video, thanks for all the recommendations! Can I recommend something to you? I loved "The Ice Palace" by the Norwegian author Tarjei Vesaas! It is very wintery and Vesaas paints a very intriguing, icy environment.

Hi Jean, not sure if this would be some thing you would be interested in doing but I would love to find some good vampire novels but as it's such an over saturated market it's a bit of a mine field - could you do a video on this?

Haha, Vancouver isn't cold. It's the warm part of Canada!
@JeansThoughts4 жыл бұрын
Dang I meant Vermont, US 😂 my North American geography sucks!
@lyadmilo4 жыл бұрын
@@JeansThoughts That's even warmer! I'm mostly kidding. Northern Canada has a very proud relationship with "real" cold. (It's -10 today and that's not too bad. Goes down to -40C every year)

"Positively Baltic" Ha ha ha -- that's awesome. I'm stealing that for future use (today in Vancouver it's just blah, not Baltic). LOL - I just heard you talk about the book set in a "freezing cold climate" and at an "elite boarding school" and then you said it's Vancouver - Ha ha ha ha ha ha - sounds like the author not only has never been to Vancouver, but also hasn't done any research. Vancouver's climate is very similar to London. Rarely freezing cold. Sure, a week or two at some point over the winter. But "freezing cold climate"- NO. Actually it's considered moderate-marine, bordering on Mediterranean. Also, good luck finding an elite boarding school here. But I'm sure it's still a fun book.
@JeansThoughts4 жыл бұрын
I’m such a numpty aha - I meant to say Vermont not Vancouver 😂🤦♀️.

@laureb76974 жыл бұрын
@@tameraanderson7820 Personally I liked it, the tone is slightly darker, if you will, and the author decided to take a route that surprised me, however in my opinion it's still worth a read and true to the rest of the series ;)
