Aja is definitely the best player in the WNBA but the MVP award should go to the actual most valuable player. Not only to her team but the entire league! Caitlin has taken this league by storm. She's brought fans, she's raised ticket prices, and she has made the WNBA something to watch during the summer! Let's not even talk about her ROTY #'s! She is most Valuable to the Fever and even more to the WNBA!
@BasketballTopStoriesАй бұрын
Totally - she fully deserves MVP no matter how you define value - stats, team contribution, league value, revenue generated. A'ja is the best on defense, the best on offense (arguably) but in terms of true value - hands down it's CC! Thanks for watching!

REMEMBER, this is a rookie. Set the WNBA record for scoring by a rookie, leads ALL guards in rebounding, leads league in 3 pointers per game, 90% FT, set all time WNBA record for assists. Team has first winning record in 8 years, went from 13 wins to perhaps 21. 8th in the entire league in scoring...and I haven't mentioned the league impact on attendance, television, etc. She will be unanimous Rookie of the Year, will be in the top 5 for MVP (crickets from Geno A.). Side note: What ONE (1) player has had the biggest affect on the WNBA this season?
@SamuelYap-w2gАй бұрын
MVP should go to the player who brings most value to the WNBA. And that definitely is Caitlin Clark: her records breaking performance, her elevating the skill set of her team mates, her transforming the Fever team from bottom dweller to top tier, her unsurpassed court vision and generalship, and for the tremendous boost to WNBA games in terms of attendance, attention and gates receipt. No other WNBA player comes close.

Caitlin Clark is 2024 ROTY & 2024 MVP!❤ MVP = MOST VALUABLE PLAYER NOT BEST but can be. Caitlin leads the league in TOTAL POINTS PRODUCED, which is the BEST metric that INDICATES the VALUE of a player to her TEAM. SINCE MID-JUNE, Caitlin & the Fever have been RANKED #1 OFFENSIVE team. Also, in stats for best player, which can be extended to MVP, is there any way to record the amount of blitzing Caitlin has had to endure this season, which also happens to be her ROOKIE season? How much Caitlin has grown in only 4 months, her ROOKIE season in the wnba, is nothing short of AMAZING. What is an even bigger WONDER is how much, through Caitlin's influence, the Fever Team has IMPROVED!❤ One more thing to consider for MVP, why is Caitlin #1 on the scouting reports and NOT A'ja? Hmmmmm Caitlin Clark is 2024 ROTY & 2024 MVP.❤

Caitlin Clark has had 4 games out of 39 games with 30 or more points scored. Several within 1 or 2 points shy of 30. 5th in Most Points in this season, 1st in Assists per Game, 1st in 3 point shots made, CC is ranked the 8th best player out of 93 players in the 2024 WNBA season and remember she is a Rookie. Yes! CC has had numerous and the most turnovers in WNBA history, but how many of her teammates should be blamed for bobbling or fumbling the pass. CC is not hogging the ball, if she was then most likely would have the Most Points scored in a WNBA Season Record. Hogging the ball also would mean not having an Assist record. All around Caitlin Clark is a well above average player and possibly become one of the Legends of the WNBA. Beyond all this, CC is the persona that brought widespread attention to the WNBA like no other person ever has in the past. Remember, things do not last forever. Hype and hysteria this year and next year could be "Who Cares?". But it is a good story and has been very Entertaining this year. Indiana Fever are into the Playoffs for the 1st time since 2016. They have had a fortunate run of wins against mid to lower teams in the league. When it comes to beating NY Liberty, Connecticut Suns, Seattle Storm, Minnesota Lynx, and Las Vegas Aces it only accounts for 4 of the Fevers wins (20 W -19 L) and had not beaten the Aces at all this season. Therefore, when it comes to the Top 5 Teams, Indiana Fever finds themselves in the hole. This shows that Caitlin Clark is unable to prevail against tougher opponents or as a team. However, these huge and significant losses the Fever has against the league’s top teams occurred early in the season or before the Olympics in Paris. Now the Fever is the 6th seed in the WNBA 2024 Playoffs, can the Fever win the 1st round against the #3 seed Connecticut Suns as the Fever have a 28.125% chance of winning the 1st round.(best of 3 games). In the regular season, the Sun's won the first 3 of 4 games as the Fever took the 4th and final game winning 84 to 80 which is rather a close game. A miracle has to happen for the Fever to proceed beyond the 1st Playoff Round. As mentioned only 4 wins against the Top 5 WNBA teams all season long. (Won 4 of 19 games) a dismal 21%. So sorry to see a few hopefuls become injured and not finish the season such as Cameron Brinks and Angel Reese. A'ja Wilson best chance at MVP may have slipped a notch due to injury. Angel Reese just needs to change her demeanor/attitude as she is very good getting rebounds even if 25 to 40 percent are from her own missed shots. I'll call Reese the best there ever been in Second Rebound opportunities. Unfortunately, Angel Reese rebounds have little significance in the game because no matter how many Double-Doubles she has accumulated does not equate or result in a Chicago Sky Town win. Caitlin Clark is no doubt Rookie of the Year and was never in question after the first dreadful 9 games of the season with Fever having 1-8 record. Cannot contribute all those losses to CC as there is no "I" in team. MVP: tough as it could have been Arike Ogunbowale since she has decent stats after Wilson but it is a shame Dallas is not in the Playoffs, so Arike is a no. I think the MVP vote will come after the playoffs. If the Indiana Fever gets a miracle and play the 3rd round in the playoffs and CC puts in the work, she may have a chance for MVP.

Normally, what Taurasi said would be true. There is an adjustment period for those starting in professional sports. Unfortunately for all those doubters in the league it merely took Clark a few games to adjust, then her teammates had to adjust to her passing, and her fast pace. When they did so they literally went ballistic. Hull, Boston, and Kelsey lit it up like the fourth of July. Finally Kelsey has a partner that can take some of the heat off her and Kelsey is lighting it up.

She brought a million new fans to a struggling league that has never turned a profit. She breaks over 60 records, as a rookie. If she doesn't get MVP it's woke politics at work. Without the Caitlin Clark Effect the league is stuck in the same rut. No million viewer television games. No sellout crowds in super-sized arenas. She has changed the game for every player in the league. There were so many eyes on the league that the Chennedy Carter hit on Caitlin was a shot heard around the world. Literally. What did Aja do this season? Her team was a back to back champion (2022-2023), this year, they barely made the playoffs. The Indiana fever didn't make it to the playoffs for 8 straight years since 2016. The fever was the worst team last year, with Caitlin in the team that is the same as last year, they became a winning team (.500+), beat the topmost teams that they weren't able to do last year, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, she took the Fever to the playoffs. That is what MVP means, you are the most important in your team.
@tchrisou812Ай бұрын
@@rap3208 That is a fair assessment. I suppose it makes the criteria they use the most important issue. I'm using personal stats regardless of the outcome of their teams and you the affect the player had on their teams.
@rap3208Ай бұрын
@@tchrisou812 If you use stats, Wilson beats clark in points, rebounds and blocks. But if you consider their points generated (points + assists), Clark is way ahead of Wilson. Clark beats Aja in assists and steals. But in the NBA, it is not just looking at the stats, they also look at the impact of the player to the team, I hope they would do this too in the wnba. Does she make her team win? Does she make her teammates better? Etc. Caitlin makes her team win, Aja's Team really went down this season from their lofty consecutive championships the previous years and she was not able to lift them to their usual "top of the heap" position. I believe Caitlin deserve it more.

Absolutely loving seeing Caitlin have such a great rookie season! Year 2 CC could be something special, but I feel she needs a better coach to win championships! Also as a new fan to the WNBA, holy crap Aja Wilson is an incredible talent herself! Aja would be a phenomenal talent on any bad team still, but her coach knows how to build the game around her talent effectively. CC needs that sort of team building. I think a lot of good pieces are there, add a couple free agent, tailor your offence around Caitlins game. Not saying Sides is a bad coach, I just don’t think she knows what to do with CC. I don’t think Sides has ever viewed the game at that high a pace before, she’s struggling to catch up and fully understand. It’s not that she’s incapable of catching up and understanding, I just don’t think the Fever should risk waiting, when they could get someone already at that level.

Clearly, the WNBA got the memo that they're turning people off with all the hate. But players like Diana Taurasi already showed their true colors. She's always been an entitled, selfish complainer who lacks grace. Being a jerk is her "competitive edge". That's fine, but arrogant people seem strange when they pretend to be humble or generous. If you're smug while trying to be kind, it doesn't come across as real or authentic. It's just unlikable. I do appreciate hearing from WNBA players who have class and integrity, though. It shouldn't have taken this long for those players to be heard.

I give Aja MVP.. First to score 1000 points. Brought two titles to Aces. Solid vet who is been very good for the League. I get that Clark is in the conversation. But im going with a class act Vet in Aja. Caitlin will get hers down the road

I don't even watch the NBA and I'm watching the WNBA because of Catlin! if you do that math as long as these haters don't screw it up the sky is the limit for the WNBA. Try not to bite off the hand that feeds you.

To think Caitlin was a fan of Swoops as a kid.

Someone, please explain how a couple of teams have more than one candidate for MVP, it Literally means MOST VALUABLE PLAYER, and they pick 2 people?

Most I have enjoyed basketball since that one guy entered the NBA back in 84!

MVP is not a Popularity Contest. What single player has brought the most Value to the WMBA? This is a no brainer. Who are the fans watching? Viewership is how the WNBA gets paid. Who has created the most interest in the WNBA? Has the WNBA ever been this popular? The WNBA better be paying attention.

I don't believe any rookie has won mvp in any league and she is not the goat. Maybe a future goat and definitely the rookie of the year and a enjoy to watch play

Yeah, there is an adjustment period but not for Caitlin. The adjustment is for the WNBA. They just can't seem to adjust. She kicks their asses game after game. Come on ladies, you are full grown women.

ok.... all of the veteran players in the WNBA felt they were IT.... the best of the best.... but along comes Caitlin, and they lose what little lime light they had. Instead of UPING their game , to be a noticeable player , that shares the ball with team mates, passes, shots, dribbling , 3-ptrs..... But those veteran players are not performing to get noticed.
