@@Oscillascape Ah, I see, I get where you are coming from, but I think that a one click solution kinda defeats the point of having a crafting grid, if you could just select the item you want to craft and automatically use all required components then why have the crafting grid in the first place.

The plains and Valleys mod is my favorite terrain generator, looks a lot better than the default noise terrains. Anyway, few things I noticed: 1. You almost always seem to have something in your offhand. You already probably know, but this increases saturation burn, which is pretty detrimental when you already have problems with food. 2. There are mods that seem to showcase light levels and spawn-able location of drifters. Might be pretty useful against the headache of getting shanked every time you enter your base. (Spawn Highlight is the most up to date) Looking forward for the next episodes.
@Oscillascape10 ай бұрын
Honestly, food isn't that huge of an issue. I could micro manage it better with the offhand and all that, but I would rather be lazy. Someone already mentioned the light level mod and I will absolutely use it in the future. I would love to have a rift ward instead but Jonas tech is still in a bad place.

@Oscillascape10 ай бұрын
Haha you got me bud. I had to use Stability Chunk Override to solve that issue. It's a mod that lets you lower the instability of the chunk without turning off the mechanic entirely. I didn't mention it because I didn't feel it was that important for my narrative. But I guess if someone actually wants to play the exact same seed, they will have an unpleasant surprise. I think surface stability is a bad mechanic. There is no counter play besides looking for somewhere else to settle. For caves it's fine, but for the surface it's silly. That's why you see the gear turning. It's an artifact of the mod. But yes without it the area is unstable.

I still haven’t reach steel, but in my furthest world I have like 70 iron blooms because I found a MASSIVE iron vein

It's more landscale cover and less upheavel, I posted this when I was sick and unable to get to my computer to check the settings so went off my hazy memory. Basically landcover scale will give you larger continental areas with inland seas, and keeping upheavel at default or lower will allow lake not to be filled in. I tested this and the only upside of more upheavel is some more dramatic valley areas that are colder.

I know you want to keep this playthrough mostly vanilla, but if losing everything due to the items despawning is something you're not a fan of, a mod by the name of "Player Corpses" is a good one. It generates a corpse at your death location and stores your items within, not allowing them to despawn.
@Oscillascape10 ай бұрын
I am not playing modless in fact I am using a few like Stone Quarry and Plains and Valleys. I am down to add mods to this world over time if they make sense. But corpse despawning is part of the challenge!
@Runovaris10 ай бұрын
@@Oscillascape In that case, you could raise the despawn timer a bit. Now that you have the world already made the command for that is /worldConfig droppedItemsTimer [number] Measured in seconds (default: 600, equivalent to 10 minutes)
@Oscillascape10 ай бұрын
@@Runovaris It's ok, 10 minutes makes it interesting and honestly with all the infrastructure I have now. Losing my gear isn't the biggest deal. Maybe once I have rare armour.

Is there a way to get a count of all the materials used in a build in creative mode?

Hey! No there isn't. I even asked Tyron on reddit at some point (the main developer). I just estimated everything by hand which sucked, but that's just what it is at the moment.

Picking up shingles one by one? Can't you put and take them in multiples of 5 with ctrl? Also cattails can be harvested with a scythe. If you did it just to be corrected for engagement i can respect that
@Oscillascape10 ай бұрын
I figured out the shingle stuff later in the video, where I learned about the 5 shingles per click. Didn't know you can harvest cattails with scythe though, that's cool. Although by the time that's relevant I didn't need to harvest them any more.

You can never have enough cattails since cattails = candles = lanterns. I plant them in rows of three wide, like a farm, and then harvest them with the scythe.

@@borkagrim3925 Good point on the wood, I should have known that it was a thing. As far as cattails, I suppose skeps return a large portion of cattails when destroyed so it's not a super limiting resource. But nonetheless scything them down is a great tip!

Makes sense. I always felt that the gear respawning mechanic just punished you for venturing out to settle somewhere else then spawn area, which is kind of a weird way to do it. Discourages people from exploring.
