I originally only had a wonderful life as a kid and was blown away when I got Magical Melody. Fun fact: when you’re a girl and pregnant, your stamina becomes a fraction of what it usually is. For 3 whole seasons. And of course dear husband didn’t help with the farm at all. It freaking sucked and I remember hating it.

19:55 Bamboo is, in fact, a plant and biodegrades naturally in a few months, the same time span it takes a banana peel or paper products (made from wood) to decompose; Compared to plastic which takes 20-500yrs to decompose, and it never truly goes away, only gets smaller! I guess the only disadvantage of bamboo is that it can grow too quickly and get out of control even on poor nutrient soil, making it easily invasive.

@@zerotodona1495 its because they're stupid very cute, but very stupid. not only their stomach's arent made to eat bamboo (they are carnivores that are so stupid, they just decided collectively to just eat plants, without getting proper ability to digest it) - but their diet also doesnt make sense when it comes to their mating (they consume 2 types of bamboo, one type that grows in spring and another in summer, getting different nutrients from each.... they mate in spring, but nutrients they need for pregnancy are in SUMMER type, meaning that mama panda wont get pregnant TILL then), as well as they are pretty terrible parents. they are alive solely because they're cute and china wants to use them as political leverage because of it.

I did that with Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. I wrote over my OG, 200-300+ hr file by mistake. ...Yeah I quit the game for well over ay ear and never quite got back in to it after.

As someone who's played a majority of the HM entries from 64 on up, MM was my absolute FAVORITE. It just felt like I actually had the most agency over things and actually had an impact over what was happening around me. Loved it. I purchased the AWL remake, and I don't hate it, but I don't love it like I did the original. It just feels like there isnt a lot to do.

It's a pretty great series! Fair warning though, if you're looking to play more recent titles that are on the switch and PC, Harvest Moon became Stores of Seasons after some IP disputes with their former publisher.

I never hear anyone talk about this game, so finding this video makes me so happy. This makes me want to start up the old GameCube and start a new farm. This game was one of my favorites growing up, and I had a few save files, but never managed to “complete” the game. I still really want to, but the last time I tried, I got stressed out trying to keep up with all of the ugly weeds around town and couldn’t deal with it. I'm one of the few people to speedrun this game, and earlier this year I routed out and completed an All Notes run clocking in at just under 9 hours. This includes the use of a glitch to give yourself infinite items and money. After watching your video and considering what it'd take to speedrun 100% as you've laid it out here is making my brain turn to mush. There is so much that all notes doesn't touch, most notably all recipes, all tool upgrades, and maxing out EVERY wild animal's affection would each take several hours on their own even if optimized for a speedrun. I don't even want to begin to entertain the idea, all the more to say how impressive it was that you dedicated so much of your time to completing everything there is to do in this lovely game.

You've probably learned this already, but Jaime's gender is decided by yours! They will always be the opposite sex. It's perfectly safe to use they/them for Jaime, as their gender is vague, but it's also okay to use whatever appears in your game.

Where were you when I was editing this lol. I'm going to spend some time answering your questions. You can see at 4:16, I have 6 notes already, so I must've missed an early one. My best bet is that it was the garbage can note. Also, at 12:50, you can see that I have enough flowers grown to get the gardening note. I must have just missed that while editing. That's kind of confirmed at 14:32 as I have 25 notes in the diary page. I also missed the brushing note so it could have been that too. I didn't include the boat sailing note (20:00) and the starlight note (53:34) because I felt that seeing the cutscenes filled that requirement. In hindsight, I definitely would have included those. Regarding Eve's note, I must have just missed the part where she gives the note, but I did get the portion when she knocks on our door at 1:07:42 Thanks for letting me know about this! It's annoying that I missed 6 notes while editing.....

I remember sinking a fair few hours into harvest festival for the wii, but for whatever reason the events would always be cancelled due to 'low turnout' and I never understood what I was doing wrong. I'm german 15 years ago, this game, including "lost in blue," was one of my favourite games back in the day, but it wasn't really popular in germany and in my school, English wasn't a subject jet so that's the starting point of how I learned English on my own, it's still bad in writing but understanding is like 90% accurate. And of cause since I'm german, when someone asks me if I can speak English, I will always just say "a little bit" and try to speak as little as possible.

Well you understanding of written English is very good! I played so much of Lost in Blue when I was a kid! I never really got very far, but the survival aspects of that game were so fun! I would love to see a remake of it lol

you wanna know the WORST thing? Harvest Moon MM's weird glitch we still cant figure out the reasoning for (last i checked). Sometimes, the game will stutter and give you the max amount of money, about 99,999,999 if i recall. Now imagine trying to 100% the game after having gotten that glitch only to realize you hadn't gotten the poor note yet.... ...i havent returned to that old save in over a decade.....orz

I feel you on AWL. I definitely played a bit of Magical Melody as a kid, but it required a lot of effort, especially in the first season, and some of the stamina mechanics can get annoying. Definitely worth a long play if you get a chance lol

Magical Melody was one of my favs as a kid! I tried to play it again recently but it looks so shitty on my tv it's hard to play lol. Magical Melody really does have a charm to it that some modern titles seam to lack. For me, I feel like most modern games all look the same or are all trying to pander to the same audience. MM really is out there comparatively lol

Out of curiosity, have you ever tried the Rune Factory series, a direct spinoff of the original Harvest Moon games? They’re really good, I would highly recommend Rune Factory 4 in particular.

I got A Wonderful Life when I was in fourth grade. I don't know if I've ever loved a game more. I was so excited when I learned about Magical Melody but playing it was a different story. The art style right off the bat just grossed me out as a child and the gameplay was totally different. I kept playing though. I tried so hard to love it but all the magic of A Wonderful Life was just gone. It was the first game I ever sold back to GameStop (or EB Games).

I always switched between this and AnWL and can't recall which one I must have absolutely played more of.... AnWL is so comfy and scratched that 'mature/realistic' itch, while MM got that cute, quirky, 'fantasy' niche filled for me lol I thought it was so cool that Jamie was always the opposite sex than your PC was, even though I hated their guts Fingers crossed big time for a MM remake sooner than later! My understanding of the "vacation" mechanic is that the villagers leave when you stop shipping certain items, i.e. eggs and milk for Carl, Gems and ores for Tim, etc. Kinda stupid but it adds a layer of difficulty if you want to befriend them all lol

Oh man magical melody was my favorite as a kid, I remember loving the open worldness of it and the art style is so iconic. Nearly 20 years later and I discovered an infinite money glitch that got me back into it. Much easier to 100% it now.
