Massive thanks to the Velo Bavarian boys for pulling me along on this ride, there wasn't much time for yipeees, but there's always time for a cafe stop! I went to this ride convinced I’d be dropped in the first 20 miles but the loins pulled it off & my mind was determined. Defo need an Audax soon though - I’ve got withdrawal!

Great job and 24 QOMs is a massive accomplishment. Girls in our area that ride with the boys are very strong riders and even do their share of pulls at the front. Don't ever doubt yourself. You are way above average on the bike, male or female.

Excellent. My basic advice to all serious or semi serious cyclists is to get yourself a power meter. It's the best way to monitor your progress over time. Using speed is dependent on so many factors like terrain, weather and group dynamics. You may ride into a headwind at 12mph but perform better than riding a tailwind at 20mph. They seem expensive but will help you no end.

My 20 year old daughter & 18 year old son did this both breaking 5 hours / 100 miles but they didn't stop just grabbed as they rode. Then again they were top Category 2 Junior Road Racers. I was 50 & took me 6 hours + to do and boy was I wasted. I hit the wall at 80 miles lol.

Amy, you're waaaay stronger than what you think you are😊 Some of those chaps were on aero bikes, which are speed weapons. Not only did you keep up with the fellas but you had a mechanical handicap because your Canny isn't an aero rig. That's even more kudos in my book. Nice riding 😎👊💥

She was sitting in the draft the whole ride. Hardly much of a mechanical difference there. Plus she’s got a considerably lower CDA than the men given her smaller size. Aero bikes aren’t speed weapons. They’re a bike the same as any other and it’s the rider who makes any bike fast.

Rejoined Yeovil Cycling Club a month ago....and loving it...a few strong women riders there one who easily dropped me....I have much work to do to get back my Triathalon/Cycling fitness but I will get there 😀 Also I will have no excuse in six weeks as I have just spent 4.5k on a new custom bike that is just being assembled by a local guy [Redchilli Bikes] 😮 Wish me luck on rediscovering the joys [and pains] of cycling. Love to cycle up in the Peak District sometime.

Have to say, when I rode 1985-1990 there was one or two women ever on a training run. The A6 is a haven. What to note.. never train on your race bike, have a training bike for training, you choose what you like, raleigh, vitus 979, colnago 753 (no carbon) 42 x 19 fixed, mudguards, dynamo. Ride early to work and home from work to get the miles in. Well done.
