If you are ever in the States, there is an Eric Carle Museum in western Massachusetts which is dedicated to children's book illustrations. Also, you can find Eric Carle books in other languages, which is a great way to introduce vocabulary.

Each Peach Pear Plum by the same authors as Peepo was my favourite book as a kid! Has the fun vibe of things in the background, and then the next page they're in the foreground. My Gran had it so whenever I would stay with her I would read it, including as a teenager, because the rhymes are just fun to say! Honestly I still love it, maybe I should get myself a copy lol

Have you read Library Lion by Michelle Knudson, Jen? It's a story about prejudices and acceptance with the most beautiful illustrations...and it's set in the children's section of a library. Bought recently in a charity shop for a friend's little one and I'll absolutely be buying a copy for me too.

Oh my goodness! I though it was just me who felt that about '10 Little fingers and 10 little toes'. It was at a toddler group I went to, but no one else seemed bothered so thought I was being OTT. 'Ableist nonsense' is a much better way of describing how I felt about it.

It seems so ridiculous to me that a book sets out to show the reader that everyone is the same no matter the colour of their skin, where they’re from etc etc but decides to use physical appearance as the uniting factor. 🙈 Everyone is the same…apart from disabled children 🙃 yuk x

Hey, I just started reading “The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night”. I bought it when it came out but I guess I’ve just been saving it 😆 Bought it from Bookdepository, I miss that website so much 😭 I’ve only finished the first story “Animals” and I’m surprised it’s horror, how season appropriate 🥰

You've listed so many of my favorites, plus some new ones I'm excited to check out! I'm a children's librarian, so I'm going to try to reign myself in, but have you read any of these? I feel like they'd all very much be up your alley, but I'm not sure about their UK availability (I'm based in the US): Little Witch Hazel by Phoebe Wahl Me & Mama by Cozbi A. Cabrera Pokko and the Drum by Matthew Forsythe The Book of Mistakes by Corinne Lukyen Sparky by Jenny Offill and Chris Appelhans Life by Cynthia Rylant and Brendan Wenzel Jerome by Heart by Thomas Scotto and Olivier Tallec Professional Crocodile by Giovanna Zoboli and Mariachiaria Di Giorgio The Sea Serpent and Me by Dashka Slater and Catia Chien Harriet Gets Carried Away by Jessie Sima Sato the Rabbit by Yuki Ainoya

Also, Where Is the Green Sheep is one of my favorites to read in our baby time at work! Have you done any Sandra Boynton? I'm not sure if she's big in the UK, but she's a board book staple in the US!
