I just binged watched all the build videos so far, I’ve been planning to build a 250 gallon, I’m not at 1k gallon level like you guys, but dam these are pretty good. I can’t wait to see the rest. You guys are probably the only ones stick welding everyone else on mig machines. I just picked my self an Lincoln 225. Any tips you can offer? I already noted making grates might be tedious lol

Have you considered investing in a plasma cutter and if you do I go with Miller spectrum 375 extreme better of with a hypertherm power max 45 these plasmas are awesome for home projects

That's awesome! Hey gotta start somewhere haha. But thank you we appreciate it. As far as the welder goes we just used stick because that's what we had honestly. I think more people starting out are drawn to the wire machines because they're easier to pick up right away. Like you pointed out the grates were a pain...cleaning up all the slag inside the cooker is a must. Anything thinner will require a little more work with stick. On the thin stuff we used 3/32 inch 7018 lincoln excalibur. It runs real nice, occasionally we used some 6010, or 6011 if you're running AC. At the end of the day it can be done with either one, but mig may be more a little more convenient. But good luck! Nice to see another person going old school with the stick welder

@@elpoison626 anytime I see Miller I think my wallet will die lmao. But I’ll check it out, do you have a lot of experience with one? I only have a grinder but contemplating plasma/torch for cutting over cutting discs if it was even cost effective after all the discs I would have to replace.

@@LR-me3kc yes I have a Miller spectrum 375 extreme $1400 at cyber weld yes Miller is pricey but you get what you pay for now if you really want your money worth go with a hyperther power max 45 if I knew better I would of gone with hypertherm same price a bit better quality o don’t forget you need a compressor

Are you running an everlast welder? Seen it in the background of few shots and that ground clamp is identical to the one on my 255ext
@TooMuchBBQLLC3 жыл бұрын
Actually it's a Miller big blue 300. It's an old rental machine, that's why it's painted green. I think the ground clamp is tweco

How long did the project take
@TooMuchBBQLLC3 жыл бұрын
Little over two months, basically working on it full time. It's still not 100% completed, but we got it to the point where it's useable

Have you considered sliding grates?(That's a pretty deep tank to be reaching into while tending to the product) Are you planning 1 level, or 2 levels of grates?
@TooMuchBBQLLC3 жыл бұрын
We thought about it, but we're both on the taller side and have long arms so its not too bad without it. And for the time being just one level. If need be we can always add a top level later on.

Are you guys gonna do a BBQ business?
@TooMuchBBQLLC3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's the plan. It's still early stages obviously but we'd like to get into fairs and events like that (once we're able to). Stuff we can do on the weekends for the time being. See how it goes from there!
