That smoker grill looks incredible. I love the hot box on it. I havent seen that before. Do you build them for people?

Yes and yes. I have build a few smaller for home owners and friend. Yes the box is great we smoke sausage and close off door and it becomes a great warmer.

lol there has never been a leak around cooking chamber door once this cooker takes off it is a jet engine we regulate the heat with in the cooker with the door it remains open the entire cook. If your having problems with a similar cooker message me I think your chimney might be too small.

Smoke is coming out the seam cause the fire wasn't hot enough at the beginning once the fire started and it got to about 100 degrees the smoke stopped coming out the seams and created a turbine effect. the fire draw fresh air from firebox and pushes it out the smoke stack you can hear it once it really gets going. Plus that was first time I started a fire in the box I was burning off the oils or impurities in the smoker even if it was a new tank.

Feldman's calculator calls for a burn box 1/3 the size of the cook chamber.

Feldman hasn't seen my smoker nor tested it like I have. Everything isn't always black and white and the smoker just a smoker not a rocket or airplane. 2 things needed for great BBQ 1. Smoke 2. Even Heat though out the chamber. If I can control my heat and smoke in box why would I make it bigger or smaller base on Feldmans calculation? My smoke box is located right over the heat source independent of main smoker so I just don't get what you are saying. Smoker is 22' long including the smoke stack and fire box. The smoking section the main tank 16'2" so your telling me the box should be 5'4 3/4". I built it at 4' you going to tell me 15 3/4" is going to change anything?
