@@itisinfactpaul2868 By 1985, the M12/13 engine was producing more than 1,350 bhp in qualifying- that’s ludicrous amount of power even by F1 standards. In fact, Paul Rosche, who is labeled by BMW as the “father” of the Championship engine, admitted that BMW did not even know how much power the engine could produce. “It must have been 1,400 bhp, but we don’t know the exact figure since the engine dynamometer didn’t go beyond 1,280 bhp,” he once stated. To get that kind of twist from such a small engine, BMW had to crank the boost way up to 80 PSI. This was provided by a single turbo that was nearly as big as the engine itself, propelling the car past 11,500 RPM. Nonetheless, the M12/13 engine is widely considered as the most powerful F1 engine to have been ever produced. -source bmwblog (and also many other sources on the internet,)

suzuki400boi Nope. It's just another kind of fuel, potent though it is when you cram enough of it in an engine. Something like a jet engine would be apples to oranges. Comparing one piston-driven, internal combustion engine to another is still apples to apples, it's just matter of degree.

@@EM6285 You have a strong point that shouldn't go unnoticed. That scene WAS the true pioneer and they were (are) frigging NUTS! But that Import scene never really took off considering wobbling down the 1/4 scaring the shit out of everyone in their Rotary 210 wasn't all that appealing to do - just awesome to watch. After that crowd started using Honda's because they would last longer and track straighter, it was Papadakis breaking records w/ them - which makes him a Pioneer as well.

I guess, having it out of the car already always helps ;-) I also appreciate you bringing us behind the scenes to show everyone what anyone in the road race world has known for a long time, but might be new or "secret, industry insider tech" to a majority of the people in the world. Seems like you are a fan of simple + reliable = winning. A world class dry-sump oil setup, reliability head work (valves, lifters, rockers, springs), cam and enough fuel to support the boost levels you want to run and that's it. Keep everything else stock where you can.

FX so it’s not about which engine is better when it comes to Honda and Toyota, there both equal and they both have gorgeous 4 cylinder engine. P.S. reason why you say that was because you have no idea how these little bastards had so much potential, K20 however already did several times. So Toyota’s 2AR makes 800 Ibs pounds of torque makes a lot more powerful than Honda because they make 600 Ibs pounds of torque.

Fancy yes, more no. When you start up a small piston aircraft, you test the ignition systems, which there are 2 per engine. There is a spec for power drop and rpm drop when you shut one off. 2 Spark plugs per cylinder.
