1000 hp Pontiac G8 Gxp turbo update

Finally getting time to work on the car, and wanted to show you guys some improvements to the kit

Rhett Castillo Thanks! Yes it has been quite the build but well worth it in the end. I would definitely recommend giving a turbo setup a try. I have driven supercharged/No2 cars and IMO turbo is definitely the way to go. Makes all the right noises and can be tuned to what ever power level you want/need.

Great video man and thank you for posting! Impressive you’re getting a down pipe past the steering shaft/knuckle. Ever think of doing 2/3 of a radiator but thicker and do a front mount?

KMMG Not really I want to keep the car street able and looking somewhat stock so never really wanted to go full race car. I enjoy having an essentially stock looking car (sleeper) and be able to drive it every where and not get too much attention. Plus being a Gxp I want to try and keep that factory look and not chop it up too much :).

The base kit is around 6200-6500. It’s worth it to get the kit it comes with everything you need.

I have an 08 GT. Do you have a link or pricing for the kit? I have to rebuild my engine from a D.O.D. lifter failure and plan on doing a turbo with forged internals in my L76.

Octavio Thanks! I actually have a dyno vid if you check out some of my other vids. The car made over 900whp on 14.5lbs of boost. Sbe, stock heads just head bolts.

Hey man love the build been working on a single front mount for my 09 g8 gt. I think I was like within the first 10 subscribers I saw your first video when that's the only one you had and subscribed and was hoping you'd keep updating and not just forget about KZbin. I have 1 question in a earlier video you referred to the turbo as a S400 and then in this video you said the cover that's been machined is a S480 not quite up to date on the borg Warner turbos. Can you let me know what turbo you are running?

Darin jasperson Hi Darin, that’s awesome thanks for the support! And to answer your question the turbo I am using is the BW S480, I said S400 before just to refer to the series not the size. Good luck with your build and if you have any questions that you think will help you out feel free to ask.

J2GXP awesome that was kinda what I figured but I figured I'd ask. Your basically the ONLY person on KZbin that has any info on doing a turbo G8 there are a handful of cars that are done but they don't show you the kit or anything it's just videos of then on the dyno or of them driving/racing... So when I decided to ditch the nitrous and look into going turbo there wasn't really any info out there until I found your channel. So I wanted to say thank you for posting the videos and showing everyone the kit your developing! It looks like a top quality kit that's got a lot of time and thought into it, there's to many half ass kits with little to no thought into them out there that are just junk. So keep up the great work and the amazing craftsman ship and engineering in your kits. I'm going to start doing the same as you and record my progress and post it on KZbin I had originally started to do a twin rear mount set up like the STS kits but scrapped that and have been designing and collecting parts for a single front mount

I agree, me a Kevin built this kit because I couldn’t find a kit I liked and the only kit I did actually like became discontinued before I could get my hands on it. But after building a turbo kit for these cars I probably wouldn’t do it again lol. I never realized the amount of work that’s involved to make sure everything fit right without crazy heat wrap etc. With out Kevin’s fabricating skills I would be lost. He really does do good work.
