Like your videos. However bought a dud unless you look at it an entry to upgrade to diesel. Lol I had a TJ 2000 6 cylinder. Awesome Jeep sold it 15 months ago $7500 but a heavy soft top. 6 did not use oil. Mine was not lifted but did have new shocks, winch, new top and carpet no rust. Probably would need new paint in a few years. So compare that to what you bought to see if it was a good deal or not. At least yours has a hard top, no rust and paint looks great but I bet you might could have found a 6 for just slightly more money idk keep videos coming

Loved watching this. It reminded me of our vacation years ago when we were young and took our new 1977 Jeep CJ5 Renegade 258 cid 6 cyl. soft top from Lake Erie to central Florida. We even did some off roading in the sand pit at Croom-a-Coochee FL. On our way home we stopped at Hinkle Jeep sales and got an oil change and bought 32" tires and a radiator guard which snapped on the grill. Hinkle's in the late 70's was the largest Jeep dealer in the USA, possible the world. They had brand new CJ's covering the lot many with mods and the owner was super nice. He told us the keys are in them and if we want take one out for a drive while ours is serviced. We hopped into a CJ7 which had 32" tires with headers and header mufflers that exited in front of the rear tires out for a drive on the mountain roads of SC. They use to advertise in off road magazines as having the lowest Jeep prices in the country and that they did, even their accessories were well priced. Once a year they held a blue grass festival for their customers. I recently did a search to see if they are still around and sadly couldn't find much about them and no dealerships now with that name. Good memories though thanks for the video.

The 19 gallon tank was an “option” for the 2.5. They all have the 19 gallon tank, but they have the vent hose so deep in the tank it only allows for 15 gallons. There’s several videos on KZbin and write ups on forums about how to remove it to get the whole 19 gallons. My 2.5 really woke up when I ran ethanol free fuel in it also. Gets about 20 mpg combined but it’s got a 5 speed so that’ll help. Great video guys!

Can't believe you started a road trip over the mountains in a 140000 mile 4 cylinder Jeep and never checked the oil level before you left, could have easily eaten the engine and then it wouldn't be a cheap jeep anymore, you got lucky but when you check out a car to buy the first thing you should be checking is the fluid levels to see if the car was taken care of,smell the engine oil and trans fluid plus the color of the fluids can tell you a lot .Have fun with it

Great vid! The jeep did a good job! I wonder if the previous owner is watching to see if she made it.. lol Regarding your credit card being turned off during your trip: Typically they recommend you call before you go on a trip and put a travel notice on the account so that doesn't happen. Also, at least on my credit card, when they turn it off for "suspicious activity" you can turn it back on really quickly using the App of the card issuer. I had to do it the other day and it took maybe 10 seconds. Better than sitting on hold.

I used to have a 95 YJ sport, with the 4 cylinder and 5 speed, soft top half doors. IT was a great machine. I never really found it under powered if i treated it for the vehicle it was. If i ever drove it on the free way i knew that i wasn't gunna be passing anyone, doing the speedlimit would be only on flat stretches. It would have been better if it was on the stock tires, but mine was lifted and sitting on 35's. I agree that you guys do have an amazing rig. Miss my YJ, aka Rocky, but found myself driving my fiance's 03 Grand more and more and found it was just as capable stock as my YJ with mods.( Atleast for all the off road adventures we ever found ourselves on)

I use to take it regularly on long out of state trips with my 2 sons to visit my dad. But recently rented a car, great on gas, quiet and does 80-85 easily, while the '05 TJ Rocky Mtn goes 65-70. Great trip guys! A small note regarding pouring the oil. Those squarish bottles have the upper side chamfered so that you can have the opening on the uppermost edge and still pour the oil into the engine. If you do so, the air goes in directly with no bubbles, and the the flow will be perfectly smooth. ;-) ... Čau!

You guys are WARRIORS! lol. Great video of your road trip Jeep test. I had an identical white 4 liter 5 spd hardtop. It got around 18 mpg if I kept it at 65 or below. Nobody ever called me to pick them up from the airport in my Jeep..lol. That was a great perk of Jeep ownership.

Love watching your videos. I’ve been watching religiously since you got the green YJ. I’m completely envious of your day jobs, if you want to call it a job because it’s obvious you enjoy it. Keep the videos rolling and I will keep watching.

Glad you guys were here in Southern California! Not all of us are aggressive drivers on Los Angeles roads but definitely have to pay attention at 200%.

I wish that my dad and I could take a road trip like this. Quit pissin' and moanin' about it being too early or that there's traffic and enjoy the ride.

Definitely won’t complain about my ‘18 4Runner TRD Off-Road getting 18 mpg in the city (with AC permanently on and aired down) now... 😆

Its funny when they put camoflage on the prototypes. It makes them stand out like an orange lamborghini with strobe lights.
