You guys do such a great job on the video editing, is that sophie's work? The music is always spot-on as well. You know it is when it takes you into the story and sometimes dont even notic the music because it is so one with the whole. And Sophie's attitude is worth her weight in gold, the work she puts into everyone's emotional state is extraordinary and I hope she gets shown plenty of appreciation, including a Captain's pay!

Thanks for putting on the Luna Keller song. “Pack My Bags”, I love it, you guys are the best for decompressing at the end of the day . I would get Diesel bugs in my motor home fuel and was told to use an additive like Bioboar and never noticed as dirty of filters as before I began using it.

So many comments. 1) I don't think anyone who has not been at sea for more than a few days realized the joy that a plant on board can bring. It's sad when you lose one, so totally understand the grief. 2) Flying a spinnaker.... I'm so embarrassed to say that after 30 years of sailing, the only time I have flown a spinnaker, it was more of a "Blister" sail, and it was during my ASA advance cruising and Navigation course. I don't have a spinnaker on my boat now, but even if I had one I just think I would be too scared to put it up. So embarrassing to admit that. In my defense, I am normally either single handing, or with inexperienced crew. Love your channel, and your videos, great story telling! I am working on a video now of my 5 day boat move, and it so hard to now sound boring. :-( I'm trying to get inspired by you guys! Great work guys! Are you doing your own editing? Or is someone helping you. If you need any help from dry land on photo or video editing let me know, message me on facebook or youtube, or email me through my website... www.genesizemore.com IG:@genesizemore Oh, and PS.... Motoring sucks! haha I recently was in a situation with 20 knot headwinds, in the direction I needed to go, and my Lippencot 30 is very under powered (13 HP), so I was going .8 knots backwards. So I ended up tacking, and a hard reach, for 7 hours straight. It was crazy! But I loved the fact that in this cases the motor was useless, and that it was only buy sailing that I was able to make it to my destination for the night. :-) Stay safe!

Adding the anti-chafe to the lifeline is great. Just wondering if you considered rigging a reaching sheet and going out and under the life lines? You would reduce the chances of chafe and also increase your angle of attack with your head sail(s).

I have never heard of this being done except in water tanks, but installing a UV-C lamp in a diesel tank should kill anything that tries to grow there. Since the bugs grow at the fuel/water interface, that would suggest installing it low in the tank. Ryan? Sound odd enough to work?

Awesome videos! I also Had the same issue, at sea like you guys - took the fuel line off at the filter and found only a trickle of fuel was coming from the line directly from the in tank. Put my mouth around the hose and blew the bug back into the tank. A full stream of fuel came out after that. it stayed clear enough for the rest of my trip and then I polished the fuel and vacuumed the tank once I got back. applied biocide as well

The dreaded bug!!! Filters just stop it getting to the engine, its always worse in the lines.... Check your fuel filler cap O ring to see the water is getting in past it when it rains or sea water over the sides. Pretty rare to get contaminated fuel from a fuel station as diesel floats on water and the fuel station puck-ups are not at the bottom of their tanks. It will be condensation in your tank from not being kept full, Condensation from your jerry cans same reason, or O ring on the filler letting in water from the deck. Or a slim chance your tank breather has drawn in water in rough weather if the engine was running and it was submerged for a time... Sail Safe guys. Ant, Cid & the Pooch crew.

Most Americans think stuffing and dressing are the same thing. But when you fill the bird with dressing, it picks up the juices and flavor, and that's stuffing. Cooked outside of the bird, it is dressing, even if it is the same ingredients. Keep the turkey, just serve me doubles on the stuffing.(g)

I’ve had the exact same fuel problem in choppy waters. I believe patches of crud in my tank would gather at the pickup tube and restrict the flow, nearly stopping the engine. I installed two access ports, cleaned the tank and polished the fuel. Yours looked worse than mine on the pickup tube base.Yikes! My tank was mostly clean with small islands of the crud here and there, but it was enough to cause problems. There was also some water in the lower part of the tank, designed as a sump I guess, just out of reach of the pickup tube thankfully. Nice Mahi-mahi for Thanksgiving!

One of those DIY diesel "fuel polishers" ($100 for parts) would be a good thing to clean up the diesel fuel after a tank clean out. Fuel is notorious for having contaminates and water in the stuff you buy, nevertheless condensation and water coming in from the breathers etc. while on board.
