I live out of my car as a woman and I've had quite a few people offer me money or ask if I need any help.I politely decline because I don't want anyone in my buisness and I don't know anyone very close in Dallas. What I've learned from these last months is that people l9ve downtrodden people.Of course you'll never know their intentions unless you accept their help.I refuse to engage because I have a job and money from my job..What the hell do I need their few dollars for just to get into my personal affairs? Speaking on ATL, rent out here is stupid, and squatter laws are currently weak. Anyone renting a place is going to be super cautious about someone who already cannot afford accommodations. In a nutshell, being poor keeps you poor.

There are so many things wrong with this. I don’t get why women would invite a random man to live in their home. They seem to lack self preservation. And maybe it’s just me, but does anyone else find this behavior very predatory? I am just thinking if I saw a man offering a place for a homeless woman to stay because he found her attractive, I’d think he’s really creepy and frankly disgusting.

In the United States people don’t openly rent out rooms. We live individualistic lives here. Maybe in the smaller rural areas it may be possible. But not really.

Sadly, women will take him in no questions asked. There are shelters he can go to if he can deal with rules/curfews. Renting rooms in the USA can be expensive. In NYC, I've seen rooms be 800-1400 a month. He needs to find other resources until he can get on his feet.

So I have lived in California my whole life, and most of that time was spent in the San Francisco Bay Area. I would venture to guess that it is in the top 10, maybe top 5 most expensive places to live in the world. Most single adults rent rooms in larger homes everywhere I have lived in this state. The least expensive apartment I ever had was on Nob Hill in San Francisco. The lease was from the 70’s and rent controlled, so the rent was $900/mo for a 1b/1ba and I had a roommate. Housing is an absolute crisis in California and the US as a whole. That means American women need to be MORE protective of our spaces, not less. The patriarchy will prop up men. We don’t need to be helping the systems that oppress us. Especially not when it puts our safety (and/or sanity) at risk. Choose yourself first always. You are loved.

US resident here, there are shared homes here and rooms to rent in my area. You just need to put it an application for them, I just can’t wrap my head around, what landed him in a homeless shelter. I feel like part of the story is missing. Sometimes people live above their means, and the spending isn’t matching their bank account. He has a job and a clothing line, what happened to that. Why would anyone want to live with a stranger, you’d have to vet them properly. You need to provide them with information, bank statements and prove that you have the means to support your end of the rent.
