@@Mariana-ud7dw yeah horses express more than you think. Every rider and horseman know this. They all have spots the love to be scratched. Thats why many horses loove to be brushed (it is also to avoid sore spots when equipment is one the horse ). Mostly buddy - horses standing head to head and scrub each others wrist. 😁

We have Percherons & one loves her belly button to be scratched. Another loves scratches right above his tail. Some love their withers/manes scratched. They all make “the face” & start rubbing their faces on /nibbling at the stall walls. So cute & funny…and pure bliss, indeed! Sometimes, they’ll even start rubbing their mouths on your back or arm…gotta be careful tho, cuz they’ll try to reciprocate the scratching for you & can nip you! (Ouch!) 😂🤣

What sweet eyes🥰. We adopted a beautiful horse, that looked similar to Harlem, but was a bit bigger. He first worked doing parades in the Marines, he then worked as a police horse in Central Park. We were looking for a calm horse that would do well with our kids. We had a lovely farm in Colorado, with big fields and a lake. We were asked by some friends of ours if we would consider taking him; they had a horse rescue service, and thought he was a good fit. Of course we said yes❣️He was the sweetest, our kids adored him. He would start neighing when he heard the bus coming. We had 8 children, 7 of them adopted as well. There couldn’t have been a perfect fit🤗. They gave him constant love and attention, and he was a great source of healing for them as well ( they came from abusive backgrounds). We had him for 5 years before having a stroke. I don’t think that we have ever gotten over it. Just a little story: in the summer months, he’d take the kids bareback and with out bridle down to the lake for a swim. He would wade in chest deep while the kids dove off of his back. They would splash him and he would throw his head , splashing the kids back. Thanks for bringing up such lovely memories ♥️.

You can say that again! As a small girl, I met one once, I think he was a retired race horse, and he said so much to me with just a look, I just freaked out! I literally ran away from him! I'm still trying to get over that experience, and I just love horses now. I've always been a animal lover. I hope I get to ride a horse one day. Hopefully not one like that retired race horse. I think he was in a lot of pain and was suffering. My problem is that I'm just too sensitive to their feelings, I guess...

Keeper looked like he was about to cry because he was just sure he was going to be hurt because of his past. And Harlem has a look of wanting to understand yet trust. I can see that Harlem knows love. I hope that someday Keeper feels safe and loved, too. Hugs to them both.

NYC carriage horses are treated exceptionally well, and the veterinarian is always checking on them, there's more stringent rules on working time, rest periods and temperature restrictions on the carriage horses than there are with OSHA and human workers! The carriages are light weight, there's videos of NYC carriages being pushed back into the garage by one employee easily, they have ball bearings in the wheels. There's another video I remember on youtube of a guy who pulled a large horse carriage by himself, and as I remember 9 people got on and filled the seats and he pulled it down the street and back again, it was not real easy to get it started from a stand still but once moving he had no trouble pulling it.
