It's interesting that when he admits that he makes people feel uncomfortable, she tries to comfort him by saying "no you're doing good". He knows he's doing poorly, and she knows too, this advice isn't going to help. Her exasperated rant at the end is far better advice for him, and you can tell he appreciates it. This is why I prefer to give people helpful advice, rather than comforting them when it wouldn't help.

Yeah ngl externalizing anxiety is really gonna affect those around you including yourself, you're not the only one to be pitied and all when saying those "Oh I can't interact anymore hhh I'm so dumb" stuff, it really makes people uneasy, I only realized this recently too, it's not always about you, it's about the people around you too
@swepsdakittie77924 жыл бұрын
@@kitsickles I kinda disagree with what you have to say. Like yeah that makes people uneasy,but he was talking to the girl. She directly asked hom what he felt was wrong and he decided to share how he felt about him self during social interaction. When the question what is wrong is directed towards you then they aren't trying to know about someone else it is about you at that moment. She said she was going through the same thing. Like no offense you could have anxiety too,but it just doesn't work like that. Personally I have anxiety and if someone told me oh "you are doing this to yourself" .I'd be like how could you ask me what's wrong then judge me which is why in the first place I was scared to answer you when you asked if I was ok. Instead I think it would be better to say" I'll help you then slowly let you go on your own,so you won't be stuck". Also saying "It isn't always about you seems unhelpful just in my opinion". Like dude I mean that is why some people are scared to seek help. Also I'm pretty sure they know they aren't the only one,but that doesn't make them inconsiderate. People need to get help to understand themselves and how they may actaully be impacting others. I mean honestly it seems just like he doesn't want to make others uncomfortable so he just distances himself so the problem just goes away. @@swepsdakittie7792 oh yeah true ofc! there are people that will help and be there to listen, but sometimes people with these problems will rely on the wrong crowd. like sometimes I'd see classmates or friends who vent to people that aren't ready or aren't capable of helping someone with these problems. I also have the same deal and all, but I know that some people aren't comfy or aren't in the right head space to help sometimes, people should also be aware about who they're venting to. the girl in the film had no problem with helping or with talking to him about stuff, she was willing to talk about it with him, and THAT is the time when you could vent and all, if someone will openly allow and be there for you

I remember one such "red girl". I was in high school, and in the middle of class one day, reading a book by myself. This was the one class that I knew maybe one person in the whole room, and he sat on the other side of it. All of the sudden, this random girl walked up to me and asked me what I was reading. She honestly seemed interested, but me being the anti-social and awkward guy that I can often be, answered her questions as simply and shortly as possible, so that I could get back to reading my book. Eventually, she walked away. I never talked to her again, and I regret it to this day. For me, that was the ultimate "what could have been".

I think it's to do with how social anxiety causes you to feel like everyone else is getting something that you just can't quite figure out, he's disconnected from people because he can't see the struggles and insecurities that they hide and as a result it feels as though he's living his own isolated reality.

I interpreted it as his feeling of loss of control, and that no matter his intentions and efforts, he ends up making a fool of himself (or upsetting/annoying other people). Even while trying to hide his anxiety so that it doesn't become anyone else's problem, it kinda takes on a life of it's own. Ultimately it seems to be a sense of lacking control over the whole "you're gonna mess this up!" idea, and how it takes on a life of it's own? I dunno. It somehow works.

@@dreamingblue3939 Listen to me. It's ok to be as confused as you are about human relationships. It's complicated, psychologists have a subject that's called "Human Relationships" in college where they essentially learn to read people and how to talk to them. I mean it takes practice and time to forge a relationship with another person, and if you want to advance, if you want to move on and leave this behind you're going to have to put the courage and the effort to try to understand and be around people. There are plenty of articles on how to start talking with people, the fundamentals of what a friend is and what it's for, the types of friends, the red flags and risks and there are also tons articles on overcoming social anxiety. Why? Because a ton of people go through that in their lives, a ton of people feel like they are quirky and embarrassing when it's really a paranoia they themselves made up. It's not something you can't get through, I see it more as an initiation test, or something that will make you grow as an individual. (Also, ask for help if you need it to a counsellor or a person whose advice will help. You wouldn't believe how easy it is to get what you want when you are direct and clear. ) All in all, it is your choice and only yours. Good luck, and I believe in you.

So, to fix it, I just talk less, and then everyone's ignoring me and I feel like I don't even exist. So, to fix that ^ I go up to people and try to talk to them, but then end up not knowing what to say and creating that awkward silence that _everyone_ hates. So, to fix this ^ I just stay silent until someone talks to me, ending up with fake friends, users, and once even with a sexual & physical abuser. So, to fix everything, _(Kind of)_ I just don't talk at all, ending up being that person that's just going through life alone and depressed not knowing how to just be _normal._ So, to fix that ^ Rinse and repeat, literally an endless cycle.

I think what it means is, him floating around is him being awkward and distancing himself because he cant just be normal and when people try to help him he unintentionally falls over and hurts them (basically meaning they try to help him but he hurts them because he accidentally rejects the help).and when the girl teaches him to properly make friends he uses his awkward floaty power to shelter her and moves back to the floor (meaning he is in control of himself and the way he acts now)

I feel as though people are making social anxiety a good thing, which it isn't. I myself used to have social anxiety but self healed and started talking, but what I see is people praising it and thinking it's "cute" but in reality it's not "blushing" at everything. No. It's not even wanting to go outside, it's not wanting to speak. At all. It's not having any close or distant friends because you are too scared to make them or even start a conversation at that matter. Social anxiety is not being shy, it's having *anxiety* to everything *social*. I'm not hating on anyone, I just wanted to get my point out there :/

This animation represents it, while you even try to talk to people, you feel like flying away (or at least that's what I got from it)
@Zombiemermaid1018 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure actually, from what I've seen a lot of stuff online is made by anti social people, so by that logic what you're seeing is less acceptance and more self acceptance. though to be honest I can't really talk with much authority, I've always been the kind of guy who's happy to sit in his own space, so I've not really had to deal with the anxiety side of things much.

Venken 64 never really had them to begin with, never really needed them. Like I said the problem comes from the two parts of the brain fighting each other, sure you can deal with the side that stops you going out to parties, but I never had the side that want to go to said parties to begin with. So I sit on my own, talk to a handful of friends over Skype.
@djprogramer9738 жыл бұрын
Galaxy Katz I kind of know the feeling. I have Aspergers but instead of anxiety I tend to be odd. I can have anxiety but that's only around crowds and loud noises. I can make friends but not maintain a relationship since being a shutin is so convenient and less complicated. I am a man of logic but being social isn't about logic. Major difference between you and me, you had a desire to talk but I saw no point so I didn't.

I. LOVE this. From somebody who as grown up watching practically nothing but Peanuts (Charlie Brown and Snoopy) cartoons, and it being my main inspiration for animation, this has stricken a chord in me. The main character is definitely a Charlie Brown-type. The Red haired girl is, literally, the little-red-haired girl, and the jazz tops it all off perfectly. I can't relate fully to the message of this animation but I recognise and appreciate it. It's beautiful. Good job.

The first time I saw this video, it really melted my heart. I even paid a visit to my mom’s psychiatrist and I felt embarrassed telling him about how a cartoon on KZbin somehow got to me. But then he told me there’s nothing wrong with that and we started talking about masculinity and how it’s okay for men to express their feelings. And now I like being a sensitive man.

I'm not socially awkward but I relate to a lot of this. I barely speak unless spoken to, which means I barely speak at all because I never engage with someone unless they engage with me. I literally feel invisible in a crowd of "acquaintances", possibly because I must telegraph somehow that I won't be interesting to talk to. I don't know how I'm supposed to start talking to someone I don't know very well without coming off as either pushy or out of no where.

Red Diz 2 This is where we extroverts come in to try help! People like me love to talk to people because we're super afraid of being alone, because we like people. You should find someone who likes starting conversations with you, and I'm sure you'll naturally start to talk with them about things. I guess everyone is different, but if you at least have one person, the world isn't so bad anymore.
@dvklaveren7 жыл бұрын
Same. Not socially awkward. I like listening. Sometimes, though, people insist that I'm being quiet. And I want to tell them, 'yeah, so what?' but that's rude, so, I'll try and force myself to have a conversation with someone who's not demonstrated worry, but boredom. Well, sometimes, someone will look at me with anxious worry, like, "you're so quiet, is something wrong?". Which is similarly frustrating. It's okay to be a quiet individual. It's okay to be talkative. Just don't force it, one way or the other. Don't force yourself to be talkative and don't force someone else to be talkative. I have an acquaintance attached to my friends who, sadly, can't respect my boundaries. My group of friends is pretty extroverted already, but he tries to force it in a way that I don't like. He's just very intense about starting a conversation with me. Just overly familiar and trying too hard to be funny with body language. Not in the awkward, 'I don't know how this body language thing works' kind, but the 'this is how I behave around all my friends and you're my friend, right?!!' kind. Hanging on to your shoulder, giving you 'that looks' with a roll of the neck. That's just the opposite direction.

Being that friend known as a "floater" is often loney, you always try to engage with people but something is always holding you back. I've been a "floater" my whole entire life never noticed and everybody always ignores me, or wants me to always shut up. In a way it's quite enjoyable it's honestly peaceful.
