Cool to run into you guys by the Eiffel Tower. I was at the 102 event. I thought Liu got robbed on the 228 CJ. Some of these no lifts today are why this sport has a hard time gaining a bigger audience. However, that crowd was good today. Blessings on you guys!

It's funny how press out has become to mean elbows that aren't fully locked the whole time. As opposed to pressing the bar from shoulders to lockout. But you can still do double squat and bounce the bar on the shoulders. But enough of that, everyone knows it's silly. I'm just happy any time a great lift passes the silly red lights. So many great lifts red lighted on top of bombed and no totals. I just want to see as many successful lifts accepted as possible.

Why was Li Huanhua's attempt at 6:56 red-lighted? I'm guessing a left-arm press-out, if anything? Valid lift in my view.
@duncan79614 ай бұрын
I thought this session was brilliant. Gutted for Meso ofc. But even outside the medals Hasanbayev and Lesman were great fun in the snatch, and Karapetyan is going to be a really serious threat in this weight as he gets older. Romero put in a really good clean and jerk for a refugee athlete. Djuraev looked so devastated he didn't win, really wonder what he could have done if he didn't spend the qualifying period getting really fat and having to lose it all. And thanks for your footage, it's great, rarely got a nice 45 degree angle on the stream.

Can you do a video on why the pressout rule is bs? I’d love to hear more about that because as a relative newbie I feel it is reasonable!
@carpetgymolylifting4 ай бұрын
Reasonable only if it was consistent maybe...but they seem to let some athletes have pressout and others not...and sometimes they even call people for a pressout when it's not at all
@NotLuigi4 ай бұрын
I think for a lot of people the simple fact is just that weightlifting just doesn't need to be held to that level of scrutiny Did the bar go from the ground to overhead in one motion or from the ground to the rack position and then overhead? Yes? Good lift
@movestattoo45614 ай бұрын
@@NotLuigiI could understand and probably even favor having the press out rule as it was intended (at least I think so) as you can’t press it from your chest to overhead. But the ways things are right know is silly.
@Shvabicu4 ай бұрын
@@movestattoo4561it's silly because no one is gonna strict or even push press as much as they can jerk ever
@o-neil4 ай бұрын
There's just no point. The rule was originally to differentiate the jerk from the press. Now there's no press so the rule is redundant. You can lift the most weight with a jerk anyway. I don't see any reason to even disallow a push press

The rule is, and i migth be wrong here. its a judge by eyes. so if the 3 judges say all clear. why do the jury intervine on there own and pixl by pixl it to see if it was cleared. the jury should stay the f off until a card was used.. just sying :P
@Pixel_Code4 ай бұрын
That's what I've always thought. If it looks good in real time, it's good. If you tear it apart pixel by pixel in slow motion at every angle of course you're gonna find something wrong that the judges missed

The amount of missed clean and jerks in the 102 session was a bit disappointing, but at the very least Akbar and Liu properly fought. Edit: Agree on the Karlos comparison, sure he had the best day of his life. But he was lifting with 0 pressure in comparison to the 102s. Just more of the same shit where people jam Naim into every conversation about any weight in the lower weight classes.

Karlos was also living outside comfortably. So he ate well and took good rests before he made his WRs. I heard the Olympic village doesn't have very good food, and the beds are also kinda uncomfortable for some athletes. These might also affect c&j performance.
