Dallas is going to fail to reach the championship game again this year. They did nothing to get there. Dak will take all the blame and Jerry will sell the fan base on winning it all again next year. The truth is the Cowboys spend to the cap but not over it. They are bottom 5 in the NFL over the last 5yrs in money spent. The top 5 teams all dominate the playoffs, and have spent 100s of millions more on the roster. The Cowboys have just become a business assest to the Jones's, its like the Redsox of football. Sure, they want to win but its a distance 2nd to making as much money as they possibly can. I cant imagine them not signing Dak as he assures they are in the playoff race every year and allows the Cowboys to sell the SB dream.

​@@crestes2while yes i agree draft andķ develop is viable strategy, and it has worked out rather well, as we are the second most winningest team since 2016, only chiefs being better. But eventually we run into a situation were we need the xtra oomph to get over the top, and thats a major part of our playoff failure. Most of the time its cause of those excellent draft picks getting hurt at the worst times (or hurt at all) like diggs, gallup, pretty much all of our true linebackers. Tyron smith. Whenever these guys are unavailable, the team suffers. Our depth is crap against teams who have a competitive chance at a sb run. We should be able to supplement our starters with decent backups or plug a few holes with a decent free agent. But of course jerry dont want to spend that kind of money on someone who he didnt draft.

@@patrickleblanc613 Yep, its all about depth in the NFL, so when you are spending, on average 30-40m less on your roster a year than those teams that are having success in the playoffs, but you have as good top end talent as anyone, its the depth that kills the Cowboys year after year. Dallas has none. if they spent that extra money, it would look much different. It wouldnt ensure anything because the NFL is so brutal, that even teams with a lot of depth can get wiped out. There is no protecting against what happened to the LBers last year. When you get a position group wiped out what can you do? You have to hope the injuries are spread out across positiions. Over time and seasons though, depth is going to pay off in the playoffs. I mean look at how every year they brag about undrafted FA's making the team compared to the rest of the NFL. Thats not because Dallas has some sort of magic with UDFA its because they have to sign those guys, they arent spending enough money to have actual NFL players as depth. It doesnt mean that they sign depth, they sign starters and make some boredline starters depth.

They pay their best players too late and overpay to keep them from leaving, resulting in less cap space to spend on transient free agents.

I don't think it's a poor roster, but I'm not seeing how it's better than last year. As of right now they're worse based on free agent losses vs guys signed. Also, we don't know how any of the the rookies will pan out or how Diggs and Overshown will respond post injury. Run defense has to improve. Hopefully Zimmer can work some magic but will be an uphill climb imo. Who is the starting CB opposite Bland? How will the new guys on the o-line do? Lots of questions.

My only issue is that we didn't get better at RB. We're mediocre at best. I think we got better at LB than we were last year. I'm curious to see how good our safeties are. I think we can compete everywhere else. The only holding our team back is the contracts.

We may have not gotten worse but what about the other teams ? It’s not like Dallas was the only team to reset. Qb sounds like a joke but , but it is a strength, not cuz of Trey lance but cuz of your serviceable backup Rush. Lance is a supposibly decent prospect maybe. Other teams don’t even have a 1 Qb yet. Not a Dak fan either but he’s good . O line will be the key to a good start or a bad one. Watch!!!

Locker room didn't look good vs GB or afterwards. Not sure how any of that has magically improved. All it's going to take is for someone to miss an assignment, blow a coverage, drop a pass, run the wrong route, throw a pick, etc., and they'll be at each other's throats again. But hey! It means more headlines which is what this franchise is really about anyways, so why would the front office care how dysfunctional the locker room is?

Who did we lose who was a difference maker? The center was our worst linemen and t smith played 35% of the games. Pollard wanted more money than we wanted to spend on rb. Paying rb is dumb.

@@crestes2 not sure what planet you’re on son but Smith played 13 games last year and has been replaced by a rookie. Biadasz was replaced by a rookie so not sure how that works out either. They lost Armstrong and Fowler on the defensive line who combined for 12 sacks. They lost Hankins and replaced with Mazi who is a bum and a bust. They lost Pollatd and replaced him with a washed up Zeke and practice squad level backups. They lost Gilmore who was solid and yeah Diggs will be back, but no guarantee he is the same player after the knee injury. So yeah they lost some significant players.

@tonymimi9715 that was last year. And pro browns are nothing but a popularity contest. Dallas lost players Houston signed them. Houston defense is real good and their offense is better. Mixon is better than what dallas has at RB and Houston WRs are way better ad a whole group as dallas. Qbs are a wash but I'd take stroud over dak bc he has a higher ceiling.

@@HunterSteed idk where you heard we lost 11 starters, but Michael Gallup is mid, Tyler biadish is below mid, dorance Armstrong was a backup, Fowler was a backup, Hankins is a big loss, Tyron smith can’t be counted on to stay healthy, Tony pollard runs scared and needs another rb to feed off of, jayron kearse was a huge liability in coverage, Stephon gillmore was awesome, but diggs is coming back, and the loss of Dan Quinn is amazing for us because he is an absolute goofball of a dc and can only win against bad teams that lack the ability to run the football… if you add the hits of this draft + the change of philosophy on both sides of the ball, there’s no way you think we won’t be better than last season.

The amount of team sacks is not the best measurement on being the best line. It could just be even though they have a better win rate they didn't get as many sacks because they didn't sent as many people after the qb. If dallas sent 4 people 70% of the time and got 13th and another team sent 5 people after the qb 80% of the time and got 5th which is better?
