Too young to have caught the band in the old days, but seeing the 'video' for "Good Morning Judge" on tv is one of my earliest memories, age ~4 and I *loved* it. I finally saw 10cc quite recently. Only Gouldman left now from the original lineup, but he's got a top notch band of multi-instrumentalists on stage with him, some of which have performed live with the band since 1975 so the performance was authentic, and as tight as a drum, with every note, utterance and sound from those great vinyl discs faithfully reproduced. They played my all-time fave Silly Love, so I was delighted. The show was overflowing with joy, wit and consummate musicianship. When they did "I'm not in love" I looked around and there were dozens of fully grown (well, grey and balding) men with tears in their eyes. Probably just star dust, because big boys don't cry. If they play near you, get a ticket. You can expect a thrilling experience.
@susanhill83324 жыл бұрын
@@BrennanYoung Yes "Silly Love" was a brilliant song. If you ever get the album " Sheet Music", an absolute must to listen to. Has to be one of all time great albums. Still play my original vinyl from the 70s. There lyrics were sharp and full of humour. It was a sad day when Godley and Creme left to do there own thing and I felt that Gouldman and Eric Stewart lost there edge and originality just a little, but by the same token I also felt Godley and Creme lost there way a bit. They made a triple album called "Consequences" which I found a little tedious and self indulgent. So they should have stayed in the original line up and carried on making great music. But so many great memories of seeing them on stage in the 70s. They put on superb shows. Remember they had 2 drummers for live concerts. Think his name was Pete Burgess. They just don't make music like it now. All lip sync and no talent now. So keep playing the old vinyls, scratches as well!!!
@BrennanYoung4 жыл бұрын
@@susanhill8332 I *love* all the 70s 10cc albums, but Sheet Music is my favorite too! It's bursting with musical ideas, and as for the lyrics, G+C had the vitriol, and G+S had the sweetness. However 10cc without G+C are clearly better than G+C as a duo. "Consequences" should have been a work of genius, but even Peter Cook's talent couldn't save it from sagging under its own weight. It didn't help that G+C were constantly stoned, Cook was constantly drunk, and they were rarely in the studio at the same time. They also hoped to use it to promote their 'gizmo' (featured on "Blackmail"). Ridiculous ambitions. By the time it finally came out, punk was peaking, and the album fulfilled almost every rock dinosaur cliche the punks (and their journalist supporters) could throw at it. Some fair tracks on the other G+C albums, but none of the sparkle of Sheet Music, Original Soundtrack or How Dare You, IMO. "Under Your Thumb" was a pretty good single tho. I *love* "Deceptive Bends" to bits. Burgess was in the band when I saw them a couple of years ago, and I gotta say, he almost stole the show. That guy is a monster talent, and he deserves far more recognition. Fenn is also a great performer, but at least people have heard of him. He made a decent album with Nick Mason, Carla Bley and Robert Wyatt. Thanks for the chat! :)

I love thier songs of the 70's. Is a shame the original members did not stay together as I believe they would have had many more hit songs well into the 1980's and beyond. Very good song writers and I am sure they would have wrote more great songs together.

I don't think they ever made a bad record. Very underrated.

Saw them live at Birmingham Odeon on a couple of occasions. I remember they started to play a song and Lol said “whoa, that was a rubbish start” and they started it all over again! Super band

I dunno. Maybe not a bad one, but in my book Sheet Music and maybe the first one is way superior to (for example) How Dare You?.
