Earlier this year I bought a 26" 22K 5MM Rope Chain. I love that sumbitch and the color depth is insane. I'm currently waiting on a 26" 10k 16mm Cuban link. It will be my first Cuban link, so I wanted crazy width. I figured the 10k would be best because it'll almost be too heavy in 10k. 18k or 22k would be uncomfortable at that width.
@ADVelez3 жыл бұрын
Your video was the difference maker in my decision. Thank you 🙏 I had a custom made 7mm 18k cuban link the Middle East while working overseas, it was nice but would twist like crazy due to inexperienced but great effort by my guy. I went to Daniel’s recently and had it remade to 9mm and longer. I loved the 18k and do regret downgrading to 14k but there was no way I could afford to stay at 18k at those grams. Take it from me an every day wearer, 18k is strong and durable enough. It is mostly standard worldwide for a good reason. The color is very noticeable. Everyone commented on it. However, I had a small ring made in 22k and by far that and also 21k are my absolute favorite color, rich and with a tone that is stunning in person. That 22k ring however was soft and did scratch, so stay away from thin pieces.

FYI 24k gold is pure gold meaning 24/24 18k gold is 75% gold meaning 18/24 14k gold is 58.3% gold meaning 14/24 10k gold is 41.7% gold meaning 10/24 When buying gold jewelry always take whatever karat gold it is and divide it by 24 to get the percentage of gold then multiply that by the weight of the piece. That gives you the amount of pure gold in the piece then multiply that weight by the current price of gold and you get the true value of gold in that piece. Now you have to take into account the cost of making the piece and any markups but you really shouldn’t ever be paying more than double whatever the value of the just the pure gold is.
@jayparfaye23402 жыл бұрын
And 22k is 92% pure gold or 22/24. Thanks for providing this info because too many people buy for the look and what they think other people have without knowing what the value and worth of piece really is.
@rabioramos1796 Жыл бұрын
I’m trying to understand your math formula what do you mean by “multiply that weight by the current price of gold” .. what is the current price of gold ? If we talking about karats and grams

It told me a 10K 10MM 18 inch Cuban Link chain should be $3,197.50. Is that correct? I’m on Daniel Jewelry rn & one is prized at $5,365.
@MRkriegs Жыл бұрын
@@rabioramos1796 heres an example that should help: if an 18k gold piece weighs 100 grams, than we know 75% of 100 grams is the gold content. So that is 75 grams of gold in the item. We know that gold is measured in troy ounces (not regular ounces like everything else) at 1 troy ounce = 31.1035 grams. So we divide 75 grams of gold in the piece by 31.1035 to get the weight of the piece in troy ounces and that number is 2.41 troy ounces rounded down. The melt price of gold is called the spot price and that is measured in troy ounces as we went over. So you simply google the spot price of gold on your phone or internet because the prices changes every day just like stocks. We will say the spot price of gold is an even $2000 for this example. So we multiple 2.41 troy ounces of weight in the piece by the price of gold at $2000 and we get a total amount of money in terms of pure melt vault of gold in the piece of $4820! The cost above the melt value is the cost of parts and labor and shipping etc to turn the raw metal into the jewelry. Might be a little if its mass produced, might be a lot of its hand made by an experienced jeweler. Metals like platinum have crazy additional costs because its so hard to work with platinum compared to gold. Hope that helps, any questions just LMK!

I have three pieces coming soon, 12.6mm, 25" 18K rose gold Cuban chain with the same matching bracelet at 7.75mm long, both sleek lock and VS on both with total weight 425gr. then 10mm, 26" 18K yellow with sleek lock and VS stones flanking the lock on both ends, should be around 255gr give or take. My first two rose gold already in the last stages tested on the Thermo X-ray big machine at 18.49 so technically 18.5K so I'm happy about that. All three should hold me down for a bit.

A few things to note. 1. 99% can't tell what k gold your chain is unless it's 10k or less (maybe). It takes someone with some experience to see the difference without a side by side. 2. Gold's luster and color near 24k is impossible to capture on camera, let alone display on a screen properly. The differences in tone is more obvious in person. 3. People are so used to 18k and 14k gold, that 22k gold might even look "fake" to them. This may be good (maybe less likely to get robbed) or bad (can't really flex). 4. Warping on 22k+ is not a huge concern on a chain since it stays on your neck. It would take some good yanking to warp that visibly.

Obviously the more gold content the richer the gold but the thing is you can have 14k made to look like 18k and so on bc it all comes down to the alloys used in the mix.Thats why you can have two 14k chains side by side from different makers and the tone of the gold will be different. 22 carat has almost 92% pure gold in its alloy. the 8% of white alloy like silver or other white alloy metal will not be large enough to offset the rich gold color of gold, and therefore, the color of 22k gold will not come out white enough to look like white gold.

maybe it depends on which country the gold jewelry was made, because I have gold from Saudi, Japan, and Italy, they have different colors and the 18k yellow gold color is rich in color, when I compared it to the color of 14k gold, the color of 14k is lighter than 18k if you look closely the 18k is more orange in color, and sometimes 14k gold is dipped into 18k to get more rich in color.
