Askin the real questions down here ya'll
@Bugpickerlicker6 жыл бұрын
The gang goes on a skiing trip to the appalachian mountians so i tried doing the reasearch to solve your question but the information was difficult so i opted to use the Rocky mountains(hoping that since the average mountain size in both regions was close enough the numbers wouldnt be tooooo far off) the rocky mountains as of 2015 was estimated to have aprox. 2billion barrels of crude oil still within them and since the rocky mountains are made up of 54 different mountains i went ahead and worked out that in the average rocky mountain there are 37million barells of crude oil within it. One barrel of crude oil in 2015 would cost roughly 43 dollars so buy fracking on mountain frank could made upwards to 1,591,000,000 dollars and considering the oil industries is a 351billion per year industry that doesnt seem like a too crazy far out number. So after taxes(in the highest bracket) frank would have retained 1,002,330,000$. After youve read all this just know im not sure about any of it, have a good day

One thing... Controlling shares in a company actually isn't 51%. It's 67%, as a 1/3 of the shareholders can block sale of the company or major decisions of the President of the BOD.
@zick50806 жыл бұрын
very true. they do that to keep a majority owner was making rash decisions that might work against the other shareholders best interest. But if exactly 1/3 voted they would loose, seeing that it takes a 2/3 vote to win. They would need 1/3 of the votes plus 1 more vote to conquer a 2/3 vote system.

Tax issue again. Working as CEO why is his tax rate under 16%. How different were taxes in the 60s? Nowadays, close to 15% goes to FICA (up to $115Kish per year then just medicare part). Say another 2.5% goes to the state. That’s already 17.5%. The rest of taxes are say 12.5% for federal. There may be some deductions with the FICA tax and some others he would do. Would he really be getting below 20% when some deductions don’t count as FICA tax nowadays so it’s hard as an employee to get under a 20% effective tax rate on your first $120Kish eligible SS tax for all your income taxes (federal, state, city, FICA)

You made an error when calculating the amount of stock Frank would need to be the majority shareholder. You determined that he had 51% of the stock, but by law, you need two thirds of a companies stock to be the majority shareholder. Since the 51% rule is just a movie law, but doesn't actually exist in the real world. So he would gain 10,693,226.64 rather then the 8,180,318.38 you said he sold the company for.

NColinCorfixsen Ever heard of IFRS 3?
@NColinCorfixsen6 жыл бұрын
There are laws put in place to protect smaller shareholders from someone who holds less then 2/3 of a companies stocks. Because the law specifies that unless you own 2/3 of the shares you single handedly vote on behave of the minority shareholders. Since what the stockholders agree on, affects everyone's stock, and as such, everyone's money. So should a person with 51% of stocks in a company, for any reason want to drive the company to ruins, then the minority shareholders are protected. What you're sighting is what most call, Movie Laws, or Movie facts. Like the "fact" that we only use 15% of our brains, or that a cop has to tell you that their a cop or not. Or in this case, if you own 51% of a company, you can do anything you want with the company. It's made to simplify the laws, so that the audience can remember it more easily. And my sources for this information comes from a lawyer friend of mine, who works with this kinda stuff. So I'll take his word over yours any day of the week.
@getschwifty11976 жыл бұрын
NColinCorfixsen Again, have you read the contents of IFRS 3 and 10? IIRC, you don't even need to own majority interest to consolidate the financial statements so long that there's de facto control. By some chance, are you a CPA or an auditor to have experience over this matter?
@getschwifty11976 жыл бұрын
NColinCorfixsen Oh and btw, if your "lawyer" friend had any experience on Business Combination and Consolidation, then I'm glad to admit defeat cause that pretty much means that my experience on these matters worthless.

If this is a tv show then the 51% established as movie law would be in effect here right?

Garrett Weisbrot Draper might be too short of a video. Most of his net worth is from a few big sales- PPL, McCann's acquisition. Everything else is not that big in comparison, he was a partner at SCDP and he became partner at SC fairly quickly. He would've gotten a lower cash salary and a lot of equity.
