#9 I had to figure out as well. It is in fact a compass indicator. Turns out the thing is magnetized! And if you put it on a piece of foam in some water, it will turn until that notch is facing magnetic north. Or you can hang the tool by a piece of dental floss from the keychain hole and it will also align with magnetic north/south, but without knowing which is which. At least with the former method it will point to north. It's pretty accurate, too. Accurate enough if you're in a tight spot.

I found the wrench worked on the hex heads for screw bits if you have one and no driver

Butterfly wrench is for wingnuts, if one is on there good or rusted on you put the wings/paddles of the nut in the slot and turn it loose like you would a normal bolt.

A butterfly wrench is for a butterfly nut.. has two ears on it so it's easier to tighten by hand... Usually used on aluminum or softer metal's because there easily stripped.

Butterfly wrench goes on top a butterfly or aka wing nut.

Stainless steel is NOT magnetic. If it is really stainless, it could never be used as a compass. However, a true outdoorsman knows how to use a compass rose (what it really use) with an analog watch to find North and to manage bearings to their destination.

I have an older one of these, has slightly less functions but it's got a super sharp blade down one side that cuts everything. Similar to this but hasn't got the compass or any open sides.

The butterfly might be for what is also called a wing nut. No an expert but try it on that. It would give more surface to twist with.

The butterfly wrench is for butterfly nuts , which is really redundant as most butterfly nuts are by nature, their own wrench

I actually invented this 20 years ago.
