Good content, very useful for starters. However I think you left out a good chunk of information that gives a branding deck the importance it really has. In my experience, building a branding deck must start with thorough research of the industry and a detailed understanding of who the competitors are. We need to know who we are up against, to clearly identify what our brand’s true value prop is. I disagree with you on the fact that a designer can build a branding deck, I think this is a job for a team of professionals in multiple disciplines that contribute in different ways to build concepts and strategies that give birth to a solid idea (brand) I think you are right on most things here but there are some that would need a bit more context. Again, job well done man, this is pretty accurate on the most part. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the input and kind words 👍 The reason I didnt include the foundational work you refer to is that I see them as completely seperate processes. The audience and competitor research is part of the overall brand strategy process, rather than the branding deck process The branding deck is a tool that’s created after the strategic work has been done. It can involve a copywriter, designer or even a strategist, but for the most part, the strategy is already set in stone.

@@BrandMasterAcademy agreed, that indeed is part of the brand strategy, but wouldn’t you agree that it would be very helpful information inside the branding deck as well? At least be added to the internal deck? I don’t think the competitor research should be developed here, but it should be part of it to identify what role and position the company plays in the market. We usually add a synopsis of our discovery in the research phase to help the team/business better understand this without getting into the details of the actual competitor research performed in the previous stage. (We leave the detailed info for the stakeholders) Again, thank you for the content you are putting out and sparking a good conversation/debate. It all makes us better brand builders in the end.
