Great tips and ideas. Dressing appropriately is absolutely a key part of visual acceptance. It is a fact that you will be treated and greeted better when you dress appropriately. While nobody readily admits it, you are judged first by your appearance and it often weighs heavily.

A couple of things I would add: Pack a change of clothes and basic toiletries in your PERSONAL ITEM, not just your carry-on, because there's always a chance your carry-on might be the unlucky one selected to be checked in if the gate agents or flight attendants are having a bad day. Also, if you can spare the space, pack an extra bag (like packable backpack or duffel) inside your personal bag. I have a messenger that folds up and fits neatly inside my computer backpack, which is my "personal item," so that if I do any souvenir shopping while traveling, I can pack the non-carry-on-friendly items and non-essentials into my rolling bag and check it in. You always know what you're starting out with, but you have no idea if you'll be coming back with more, so it's a contingency worth planning for.

Holy cow, rolling the jacket is a great idea! One way to help yourself pack light is to consider whether you will use each item *enough* to justify toting it. That it *might* come in handy isn't good enough. Sure, an umbrella might come in handy but I'd rather leave mine at home and buy one on my trip if I need it.

It's true what you say. In my studies at the police university college in Norway, we learn about how to get a good first impression, and it's about how you dress, how your body language is, how you look physically (good shape), and of course how friendly and capable you look and act. People use prejudgement, not because they are bad people, but because it's an easy and fast way to find out if the person is a "threat" or not. This is sociology/criminology and there's a lot of info on this. I also recommend people to check out "the bystander effect". You can find videos on it here on youtube. People who were dressed nice and acted like they got ill on the sidewalk got help much sooner than poorly/bland/normal clothed people. Think for yourself: if you see a drug addict who is passed out on the street, do you dare to help him? Especially when all other people just walk by? You might say you would, but in real life you may not. Not because you are bad, but because it seems like a threat. Uncertainty, media, diseases, filthy, criminal, violence are key words.

Hi antonio i like your video. I have a question though, while traveling usually i need a container to bring my passports, documents, cash and etc, so i usually bring a massenger bag with me during travel. But wearing them don't really look stylish and it don't make me look sharp. So i was wondering can you dress up sharp with a masenger bag?

As a technie, I can also suggest not carrying your laptop as hand-carry. I have lost two laptops because of it and it sucks when you don't have a laptop to work with. Just check it in with the heavy luggages.

when I was in the Navy they were big on our uniforms looking good and that included our work uniforms, which back in the day was dungarees and chambray shirts. All of our uniforms were tailered for us in boot camp and we were expected to have any new uniforms tailored after that. Even the dungarees. We were taught how to fold or roll our clothes, including underwear and socks to fit in a minimum of space. Ever wonder how we sailors achieved those reverse creases? We turned our clothes inside out and ironed them. In boot camp we would wash our uniforms outside on cement tables using scrub brushes and laundry soap and cold water. while our clothes were still wet, we would iron them with our plastic soap dishes. Worked every time. On board the ship I would place my work uniforms, inside out, under my mattress and they would be pressed and wrinkle free the next day. Don't know if any of this info is useful or applicable to today's lifestyles or travelling, but some of it might be.

I don't agree with carrying on your luggage. It's not to difficult to check your bag, and get it at the baggage claim. You can even check the bag at the gate for free. I travel for work and check my bag each week. My bag has never been lost, and the handful of times there has been an issue with my luggage, my bag has been delivered within 8 to 12 hours.

Hi Antonio, Your clothing selection for Australia was interesting. As it is our hottest part of the year here, you would have found it rather hot if you made it over to the west coast of Australia. Shoe tree? I think you mean shoe horn. I hope you aren't advising to wear cowboy boots for air travel unless you are going to wear them a lot where you're going. They are heavy and bulky. Garment bags are also passe and a waste with on board restrictions unless you are going to check everything else and who does that anymore? They also conflict with your #8 tip. You also neglected to mention traveling with tech and who doesn't do that except your grandparents....maybe?

I'm a savvy traveler too. I notice people who dress sharp when they travel. I always laugh because after a 10 or 15 hour flight. they look pretty bedraggled. It's advice is pointless. Being courteous gets a good response. Clothing has nothing to do with it. No one carea how you are dressed. This is advice from a very experienced traveler.
