Selling is supposed to create a good and long lasting impression on the move as a finisher. I remember being 11 years old and seeing WM 8 - my first PPV - and it shocked me to see both Hart and Flair bleeding. I never thought they'd go that far to stage a match and assumed it had to be accidental because they were trying so hard. I also thought they were easily the best two matches on the card and they are the two feuds responsible for hooking me on pro wrestling for the next two decades. Having said that, if I had ever seen color in a match before that, it wouldn't have impacted me the same way, so there's two sides to every story. You don't get shock value without there being something absent/forbidden first. I started watching just after Rumble '92 and didn't know about Prime Time so I only saw jobber matches on WWF Superstars. That's not very long before WM 8, but it was just enough to give me an idea of what I thought I'd see at WM ... boy was I surprised. Way beyond my expectations. I also remember thinking Hogan/Sid sucked. I remember saying, "well, they didn't really have a match ... just kinda pushed each other around a lot and did tests of strength, made angry faces and then it just sorta was over." I remember Hart/Piper, Flair/Macho, Michaels/Santana and Tatanka/Martel as my highlights. My fate as a smark was sealed at a young age, I guess. :P

I have watched Wrestling since I was 9 years old. I was raised North of Memphis. I watched Jerry Lawler, Jeff Jarrett, and saw the mega-stars of WWF & WWE, back then when they wrestled in the Memphis area every Saturday morning on TV from 1975-1979. ( Undertaker, Sting, Ultimate Warrior, Ric Rude, Ric Flair, and even The Rock himself, under another name. etc. BEFORE steroids. ) I couldn't get enough of wrestling every weekend. I am still a wrestling fan. I remember when Wrestling was MORE than just Entertaining. LOL! it was more like a Drama Soap-Opera...from one dynamic; from weekend to weekend to be continued. I was 10 years old, and smitten with the guys in their trunks, and educated on how to stand up for myself, against bullies in school. I beat up some bullies boys, and one girl, in my younger days. lol It Was GREAT! Being 4'9" at 10 years old, wasn't easy....and 4'9" at 55, has its ups and downs, today. I've stopped watching current and live matches. I watch wrestling that I grew up watching, especially in Memphis, Tennessee, ( 1970s ) and Atlanta, Georgia. ( 1980s ) I still love the Royal Rumbles. Ronda Rousey's My Girl!! Today's standards for wrestling.... are not High-Quality. Vince or whoever makes his decisions are not trying to provide quality entertainment for their fans. The quaility of life and products, from Corporations these days...is being dropped. I am blessed to have experienced Wrestling as young as I was back then. If it weren't for Wrestling...( I wouldn't have had an alibi, to go out out with the girls in high school and party. ) Thank you! Rick Morton, and Robert Gibson! When ya'll were in town, I told my parents that I was going to see you. I went to the bon fires by the lake instead; " smoked, " drank, and was merry! lol
