Hi. My name is Diana. I'm a mom of 2 young kids from Ukraine. I started following your journey over a year ago in the midst of major blackouts caused by Russia destroying our electric infrastructure. Your channel instantly became my safe heaven. The beauty of the place, the steadfastness of the progress you made renovating those cabins, the bread baking... With a newborn in my arms living through the horrors of war I could escape and dream and envisage the future. Your channel was one a few that pulled me out of the dark place and kept me afloat. Congratulations on this huge milestone in your journey.

Those little white super good smelling flowers are native to our area and it looks like they are a native to your area in the Alps. I love Them so much that I planted them all over my yard here in Oregon. However I have learned years ago that those little good smelling beautiful flowers are poisonous to children and animals and when I saw them outside your chicken coop and you picked some for your chickens I wanted to call you and let you know. It's very sad to see Oaklahoma and Texas on the news report. Devastation from natural forces that are beyond our control, carry the toughest of life's lessons. Best wishes for your cleanup and rebuilds. My home city in New Zealand had severe earthquakes that wiped out thousands of homes and central business area 13 years ago. It's still ongoing demolition, rebuilds and disruption to everyones lives. Sending you hugs

Watching you put the final touches on your bedroom reminded me that you've put your hands on every square inch of that building and the hours and hours of backbreaking work that went into it, and then the final scenes just made that picture complete. God bless you, Martijn, and may He keep you always in His care. From an old mother who can only begin to imagine what's in your parents' hearts! ❤🙏

Martijn, you have done a wonderful job on your cabin! I've not commented before but I stumbled upon your videos while looking for something for my husband and I to watch. We had contracted covid in Jan of 2021, he spent 11 months in various medical facilities and then I brought him home and was his caregiver for nearly 2 years. Sadly he passed away from pneumonia in November last year. He was 72. But once I found your videos, we watched the one you had just put up where you took your viewers through a recap of the first year and from then on we were hooked. We've watched you faithfully every week. Steve, my husband, really enjoyed your videos and he was complimentary of your work. He was a handyman, builder and mechanic and he admired your style and attention to detail. Since he passed, I still watch and enjoy your journey and I look forward to seeing the transformation of the 2nd cabin. Thank you for giving my husband joy and things to look forward to. God bless you. Linda in Louisville, KY, USA.

Well done Martijn. I know you envisioned it from the start, when you first walked around those old cabins in #1. But you must have had a few moments when you wondered whether it was all going to turn out as you had planned! And now here you are, with a beautiful FINISHED cabin. So well done, I hope you feel proud of yourself and what you achieved

Martijn, after two plus years of hard work, freezing temperatures, getting sick at times, rain and strong winds, and tge help of family and friends, you succeeded. Your first cabin looks beautiful. You stayed strong and focus. I'm crying tears of happiness for you. Now you have a safe place to live and continue your plans for the second cabin and future workshop. Thank you for taking us along this amazing adventure. May God keep you safe and healthy so you can fulfill your dream on that stunning piece of paradise.

As an 80 year- young lady in Florida who has eagerly watched the weekly sharing from the onset of your homesteading journey in the Italian Alps, I send heartfelt joy to you on the completion of the first cottage. You are a creative, inquisitive, hard-working person. May you be blessed with many happy years in your beutiful home. Here's to much success with all your future projects. Also great to see your caring way with the new chickens...letting the new and old ones acclimate to each other before letting them be together...a wise move. All the best to you, Martijn 🎉

gosh.. I find myself tearing up at the end montage, showing the befores and afters, and remembering every glorious moment along the way, watching age, disuse, and the rawest of possible bones of a property become the warm and in seriously enviably inviting haven it has become today. Martijn, I'm definitely old enough to be your mother, and I am so very very very amazed, proud, envious, you name it, all the emotions are there, but above all I feel beyond privileged to have found your channel, and be so enraptured by you , every single week! I swear Martijn if I were 20 - 30 years older, I'd want to visit with you and just offer to work there, simply to be part of such incredible results.. Bless and never change! Much love..

Martjin, I've been watching your new videos each week for just over a year now, while also slowly catching up from the beginning. The juxtaposition of recent vs. old videos is truly amazing. Watching you dig out the basement one week, then finishing the cabin a few days later is amazing. You should be so happy and proud with what you've already accomplished. It's absolutely gorgeous, what you've created. I cannot wait to see the final product of this journey. Congratulations on this huge accomplishment!

Dear Martijn I'm a landscape gardener and I almost couldn't resist it last time. For safety reasons, I really recommend that you invest in cut protection trousers. A chainsaw is not to be underestimated and you work a lot alone (and therefore in a remote location). An accident happens so quickly... Either way, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your videos, always a pleasure to watch, apart from chainsaw work without protective equipment ;) All the best, Manu

Martijn…Incredibly magnificent …those two words hardly do justice to the product of your design brilliance, industriousness, tenacity and perseverance. You are extremely talented, humble, focused, and determined. While you live simply, you have a fine eye for details, a taste for haute cuisine and a curious mind that can seemingly solve any problem. It is both a pleasure and a privilege to watch you at work. You inspire me to think harder, design better and build more beautifully. Thank you!

Im sure like me, many followers from the beginning feel like we know every stone, every piece of wood, every nail, the way the cement has been made, has been put ( so many batches of cement…) the outdoor kitchen, the tent, the digging, the pipes, the fresh bread, the painting, the grouting, the filing, …oh man, what a piece of Life youve created up there
