It was lovely to see you with friends having dinner and lovely to hear the comments that your bedroon was swanky. Look fofrward to more of your creative works. Hi. My name is Diana. I'm a mom of 2 young kids from Ukraine. I started following your journey over a year ago in the midst of major blackouts caused by Russia destroying our electric infrastructure. Your channel instantly became my safe heaven. The beauty of the place, the steadfastness of the progress you made renovating those cabins, the bread baking... With a newborn in my arms living through the horrors of war I could escape and dream and envisage the future. Your channel was one a few that pulled me out of the dark place and kept me afloat. Congratulations on this huge milestone in your journey.

Congratulations Martijn, wow what a awesome achievement. I’m doing the happy dance for you.All these endless hours ,cold and stormy nights in the tent gone forever😅 I grew up in Germany in a little town next to the Rhein river. My brothers and I went in the woods by the river to pick Lily of the valley by the bunches for our mom and grandma for Mother’s Day. Those little white super good smelling flowers are native to our area and it looks like they are a native to your area in the Alps. I love Them so much that I planted them all over my yard here in Oregon. However I have learned years ago that those little good smelling beautiful flowers are poisonous to children and animals and when I saw them outside your chicken coop and you picked some for your chickens I wanted to call you and let you know. I don’t want you to poison your chickens. May God bless you on your journey and thank you for your Beautiful videos❤

I lived in a one room cabin on the Missouri River with my father when I was in high school. We had a wood burning stove, well water, no hot water for a while, and the only shower was outside! Watching your journey has reminded me of what actually makes me happy....a simple life. I'm 48 years old and have lived the rat race, big houses, big cars, and big debt. Because of you, I've changed my plans for retirement. You've inspired me to move to Italy in 10 years, buy a reno home, and live the rest of my years in a simple, yet beautiful life. I was there when the stone hut walls laid still buried under the slopes, the roof timbers swayed as lush green mountan emeralds and Father Johannes was barely a twinkle in his Great Great, Great, Great Grandfathers eye. What a privilege to be comment #5000! I have watched your series since you moved in , sleeping in a tent inside that cabin. I'm just shocked how much was accomplished since then. I remember how you first cooked meals in there when there were still bugs crawling through the walls (and biting you!) and leaves in the corners. I'm just speechless. It is hard not to watch and think about my own accomplishments from the past few years since your project started. Yours is very concrete but mine were mostly mental health accomplishments and watching this episode made me proud of both of us. Cheers to the next 2.5 years.

Chickens can take a while to recover from traumatic events such as assaults on their domain. The new arrivals and renewed threats worry them and they may stop laying eggs for a while. You are spending more time with them and that is reassuring for them. The ‘newbies’ will assimilate and the ‘cock of the walk’ may try to take a leadership role. The white survivor will be the dominant hen in the new ‘family’ arrangement. She knows the score and has seen all the progress you have made. She survived attack and the bad storm. Well done Martijn !!

Martijn, you have done a wonderful job on your cabin! I've not commented before but I stumbled upon your videos while looking for something for my husband and I to watch. We had contracted covid in Jan of 2021, he spent 11 months in various medical facilities and then I brought him home and was his caregiver for nearly 2 years. Sadly he passed away from pneumonia in November last year. He was 72. But once I found your videos, we watched the one you had just put up where you took your viewers through a recap of the first year and from then on we were hooked. We've watched you faithfully every week. Steve, my husband, really enjoyed your videos and he was complimentary of your work. He was a handyman, builder and mechanic and he admired your style and attention to detail. Since he passed, I still watch and enjoy your journey and I look forward to seeing the transformation of the 2nd cabin. Thank you for giving my husband joy and things to look forward to. God bless you. Linda in Louisville, KY, USA.

gosh.. I find myself tearing up at the end montage, showing the befores and afters, and remembering every glorious moment along the way, watching age, disuse, and the rawest of possible bones of a property become the warm and in seriously enviably inviting haven it has become today. Martijn, I'm definitely old enough to be your mother, and I am so very very very amazed, proud, envious, you name it, all the emotions are there, but above all I feel beyond privileged to have found your channel, and be so enraptured by you , every single week! Dear Martijn I'm a landscape gardener and I almost couldn't resist it last time. For safety reasons, I really recommend that you invest in cut protection trousers. A chainsaw is not to be underestimated and you work a lot alone (and therefore in a remote location). An accident happens so quickly... Either way, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your videos, always a pleasure to watch, apart from chainsaw work without protective equipment ;) All the best, Manu
