My advise for your pond would be to install a good size vortex filter, or a few of them, in front of the bog filter. That will catch most of the solids, and it will be easy to suck or flush out the solids once a month or so. Otherwise this entire pond cleaning will be a yearly returning routine, or maybe you even need to do it twice a year . With all the debris in the air and falling leaves and nitrogen pollution outdoor ponds are a whole different ballgame compared to indoor fish tanks. Especially with the amount of fish that you have. The vortex filters would eliminate all that work. But to be completely fair, I also do not think that your bog filter is large enough for your setup and the amount of fish that you have. In such a small area compared to the pond you can't grow enough plants to create a balance between the amount of nutrients that are produced by the fish and contamination and the amount of nutrients that are used by the plants to grow. And to make a bog filter work really good it would be good if the bog filter also had a deeper area, preferable in front of all the gravel and the filtering plants, and where the fish can't come, where you can plant oxygen producing plants, instead of only having filtering plants. This will help your micro organisms inside the bog filter massively, but it is also good for the fish in the pond. As you know you want to help the aerobic bacteria, and you want to prevent that the bog filter becomes anaerobe from all the solids and lack of oxygen. I have experience with an outdoor aquaponics pond setup.

Big fan of you guys and what you stand for, But the way Reaper chucked a paddle fish into the pond like that looked so wrong ,The way josh added the fish was a way more safer option rather than just chucking it. a few minutes after it was chucked josh rightfully explained the requirements these fish need as if the fish wasn't chucked into the pond, Maybe there is some explanation i personally have never heard of these fish before but if so it is important to provide context in the video as that can be seen as animal endangerment for people who may not know about these fish. Regardless you have one awesome pond with some awesome fish in it
@stevenmotchan20482 ай бұрын
Rod from Predatory fins went to a breeder and did a video on paddlefish over a year ago. The breeder explained that when you handle the fish they fall into a sleepy state. If you ease them into the water they stay asleep and go belly up. You have to throw them into the water to wake them up so they can start swimming. It looks rough but the breeder says that's the way to do it.

@ohio-fish-rescue2 ай бұрын
Yes there ok. But they did go belly up in that little pool. We had to throw or slap them back awake out of their sleepy/belly up state they were in. The breeder told us of this behavior and told us to toss them to hit the water, and it made them come right back out of that state they were in. They hit the water and began swimming right away. We were so relieved. But I thought it was tp graphic during the editing, so I ended up cutting the scene and forgot I mentioned it in the title. I was tired

What is the difference between oxygenate and super oxygenate? Is that like wet and really wet ?
@ohio-fish-rescue2 ай бұрын
Oxygenate is how you normally just, you know, put air in in your water.Super oxygenate is when you have something running in and pouring in and it's basically an explosion of micro air bubbles at the top of water from the water coming in. If you Did that in a fish tank it would look gray and hazy because of so many microbe bubbles
