Absolutely, hormones affect pain and fibromyalgia. Im in early menopause and have cycles of flairs according to where my hormone levels are at throughout each month.

Good explanations dr andrea about menopause & incidence of chronic pain . I have got many women patients with hip knee osteoarthritis above 45 itself with premature menopause history taking calcium supplements along with physiotherapy ..really osteoporosis sarcopenia are challenging it predisposes senile issues prematurely. So I think diet physical exercises you have shown in demo ( osteoporosis) and if need supplements advice properly from drs and physiotherapist advice of tailor maded exercises programme may prevent severity ...post menopausal women ....its a great awareness video of all women . Dr andrea .

I’m in menopause and I’m begging my doctor for HRT and she doesn’t want to give it to me. I’m still working and I’m in pain. Funny that doctors will give HRT to men and boys no problem who want to become women. I’m outraged by this because real women are often denied. Canada has become a cesspool.

Thank you doctor. How about lack of testosterone in women. What type of problems it causes? And can we have HRT and do another type of treatment for lack of testosterone at the same time?
@DrAndreaFurlan2 жыл бұрын
Hi May, we don't recommend women to take testosterone, or they will start developing male features.

@@DrAndreaFurlan many thanks for the response doctor. My testosterone is next to nothing and I have a few numbers of problems such as low libido, back pain, headache, I am losing hair on my temples and my is receding. I do exercise everyday for my backpain but it seems I cannot build some muscles. Does low testosterone in women not cause heart disease and low bone density and the above problems I mentioned. I really would appreciate if you would answer. Thank you

Do you take progesterone and estrogen hrt? I think some progesterone will convert to testosterone. Or you can always get some dhea which helps testosterone levels too if the doctor won’t give you low dose testosterone with the hrt

Also wondering does menopause result in hair loss for women? My doctors initially said it was the surgery or developing CRPS ,but its been over a year and a half.....that is why I was wondering if menopause would cause hair loss instead. I would think the surgery or the CRPS wouldn't continue for a year and a half....but that is my uneducated guess .

Too much these days gets blamed on only menopause and on advancing old age. And so I agree that it is wrong to hope that hormone replacement therapy can solve all health problems for an older woman by only offering her hormone replacement therapy. Instead of for example offering older women too opportunities to get enough weight bearing exercise daily after being past child bearing age during for example school and then paid work at more than only ever minimum wage. Am I ever glad to have made the decision to change family doctors to one who agrees with me on that idea instead of me dwelling on any of my chronic ailments which are being experienced in his better for me and successful treatment plan which does not include any kind of hormone replacement therapy. Instead of only all of the pills, patches and the suppositories too including pills to replace youthful Testosterone for women too levels which some other doctors were often telling me that I should not according to them be ever living without. Are pharmaceutical companies offering incentives to family physicians to prescribe synthetic hormones or what? How else can we explain after I went to a college campus walk in medical office looking for help with what seemed to be a lung infection symptoms after instead of being helped when only getting asked there over and over again if I had vaginal dryness then later after I refused to ever go see that doctor ever again I found out from my youngest son that he was told by probable the same only doctor available there that in his opinion he had too high of Testosterone levels and so he needed a drug to lower those levels instead which may have instead been one of those new kind of birth control prescriptions available to men now too.

Thank you for the information. I have no estrogen due to menopause but also bc I had a hysterectomy a few years back at age 54(now 56). However I cannot take (per my endocrinologist) Hormone replacement therapy bc I had a cryptogenic stroke end of last year. So there goes that solution. I do take vitamin D prescribed once a week. But read something about calcium (which I need I also have some osteopenia) that it can increase your cholesterol is this true?? My cholesterol was a little bit high so I’m on a statin of course since stroke though they don’t know why I had it. I want to take calcium that pcp prescribed but does this increase cholesterol? Btw, I don’t know if i feel privileged to have menopause lol 😂bc I don’t. 😂

I have CRPS and now I am going through menopause. I am surprised ,but laughing at myself too,because the hot flashes are not as bad as I thought they would be since I went through the Hot type of CRPS first🤣🤣🤣(Still experiencing that by the way.) In all seriousness though and to add to the subject I just had covid,for me I had the symptom of losing my voice and having my throat close. I did go to the E.R. and receive treatment ,plus Paxlovid. I still couldn't eat for another 6 days, the paxlovid made me so nauseous and sick. I lost 5.5 lbs in the 6 days. That was the end of September and 1st week of October. I am eating normally again now,but I did NOT gain the weight back. If I am understanding your educational video the symptom of losing muscle and gaining fat in the middle is a symptom of menopause. It was 1 of the "silent" symptoms that is not always noticeable to women. During covid I did feel very week for 2 weeks , coughing caused weakness in the core muscles and of course sitting around to do nothing but give the body a chance to heal didn't help much. I went from 105.5 to 100 lbs in a week. Since eating normally now I am back up to 102lbs. Should I worry about those 3 lbs that didn't come back if it was a muscle loss? I can't quite exercise yet like I was still tired and weak from not sleeping during covid and the CRPS getting crazier during that time. But my exercise routine is mainly stretching since I have CRPS and Scoliosis cardio exercise is not something I can do. Is there anything else I can do to increase muscle in my core that is not cardio? Maybe you have a video you can recommend? Thank you! This video was very informative!
