I liked the video, but I think that a video of this kind needs to include “The Golden Girls”. A TV Show about retired women breaking all kinds of boundaries and traditions about the roles old women should have, deserves a place in the video. Instead of knitting in the rocking chair, these women are screaming to the world, “We are not dead yet, we are very much alive, and we have dreams”.

The BBC used to be good at producing programs like this. If you "enjoyed" Threads try The War Game. It was actually shelved until 1984 after Threads was shown. Also not so much post apocalyptic, try "It happened Here:, made, by the same people 3uo made TWG. This was more Dystopian view of Britain after a successful invasion of the UK by Nazi Germany. This heven had accurate equipment. FFS they even had a bloody Elefant. No idea how they managed to get their mitts on an Elefant.

Soap was a hit because of the talent of its cast and writers. Billy Crystal, a major talent, gave an endearing quality to an openly gay character. Probably did not change minds about the acceptability of the gay a lifestyle. But remember, Soap also had morally ambiguous plot lines that involved adultery and deceit.

"Married With Children" was only considered controversial because of ONE woman complaining about an episode she saw with her kids. She went public and basically single handedly boost that show's ratings. FOX was still new at the time and its shows was barely going past season two. "The Cosby Show" was NOT controversial during its run. It was 30 years later, when we heard about Bill Cosby's "alleged" crimes. He was tried, convicted and served his time in jail. Still unfair that "The Cosby Show" isn't streaming anyway, but RACIST Roseanne Barr's sitcom can be seen every night on Cozi and probably on other streaming channels.

It's such a shame that a brilliant show such as The Cosby Show was overshadowed by his real-life controversy. His actions made us forget what a positive role model he was. Mr. T., despite the A-Team's issues, was also a positive role model. He never drank, or did drugs, or engaged in any negative behaviors. My mom said that my grandmother used to watch Soap, because she thought it was a riot! But, when Grandma had tried to convince a friend to watch it, according to my mother, Grandma's friend had replied that the church didn't allow it, thus solidifying the show's controversy. Despite Three's Company's issues, it had later become a staple of Nick at Nite. In fact, it was described as "Unreality TV," in the previews, during the late 90s. Not only was Alf a sitcom, and an animated series, but also a made-for-TV movie, in 1996. He'd also appeared in ads for 1-800-Collect. My sister and I used to laugh so hard, at that movie! Also, in the 90s, Dallas's Patrick Duffy and Three's Company's Suzanne Somers had played stepparents, on Step by Step, as part of ABC's TGIF lineup. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe had led to a spin-off series, She-Ra, aimed mostly at girls. My sister and I used to play with the toys.

The Day After was the only one you showed which was a movie, not a series, although I do agree about the controversy. Soap, by your own admission (1977-81) hardly had any 80s in it's seasons. It's 4th and last being, as I recall my own research, was its lowest rated and only full season in the 80s.

I was a kid when Three’s Company was on TV. Even then I understood the absurdity of the premise. I grew up on married with children, Roseanne, Alf, and the A-team. I couldn't stand the Cosby show. I watched the Bundy family to see what Al was gonna do next. To me the true star in the Conner family was Dan not the shows namesake. The more adult humor of Alf never flew over my head but I was a very mature and bright child. Finally the A-team inspired me to be who I became from my favorite character colonel Hannibal Smith with the stogie hanging out of his mouth and his line "I love it when a plan comes together"

Someone please tell me I’m not the only white guy who grew up in the 70s and 80s loving The Cosby Show that didn’t see it as a show about a black family but a show about an American family and didn’t even think twice about the possibility of the parents being a doctor and a lawyer. I think I was the norm not the exception which just shows how race relations have deteriorated over the last 40 years thanks to wokeness and race baiting.

There were a few shows listed I never watched, well I watched the pilot and decided, NOT FOR ME and never watched them again, still haven't and never will. Which shows did I really dislike, Dallas, Dynasty and Roseanne. BLECH! Now I loved Alf, He-Man, Miami Vice, and SOAP with Miami Vice being my #1 favorite, Alf being 2nd and He-Man in 3rd place. SOAP was amusing at times, other times it was a bit boring, and why it comes in last, in the 4th spot. Okay shows were The Bill Cosby Show, Married with Children and Three's Company. Although I felt Three's Company was much more entertaining than Cosby's show was. And even Married with Children was really off the wall humorous many times. I hated Peggy Bundy, But Al and his son Bud always had me laughing, and his blonde air-head daughter, Kelly reminded me of 2 of my younger sisters (both blonde) that were so similar to her it was eerie.
