I know most contents are from Super Mario World and I’m totally in on it. The running animation, crouch animation, kicking the object up, Super Mario Wonder is full of references from Super Mario World and I’m already feeling it from this game.

Probably the biggest and best change between the two are the animations. Yes, many have said this, but the actions have so much more expression in Wonder. The characters climbing out and into the pipe, Elephants squeezing into the doors, it all makes the game so much better just for a little bit more effort. Hope to see this carry on into future games! I also notice that 2D games look a lot nicer with their animations

In Super Mario Maker 2: 1. If Mario catches a starman while holding a shell, the carried enemy won’t die. 2. Buzzy Beetles can’t survive extreme heat, their shells sink in lava. Big Buzzy Beetles can’t survive in lava either. 3. Objects can be tossed upwards, but only in the Super Mario World style. 4. You can quickly try again a level after a death. Just a few seconds and Mario’s ready for another go.

These are all very interesting little tidbits. It's the little improvements that mattered towards making Wonder a definite step above the NSMB series. So much attention to detail! It's truly fantastic.

SMB Wonder is the best 2d game since SMB3/SMW (and Im old enough to have played the original SMB on the NES as a young child in the mid 80s). I tried a bunch of the NSMB games, and I couldnt get into any of them. But Wonder is something very special.

@@sandeegrey5977 It should, the game is really good. First and second game continues to live on with all the custom made courses they had for us. Its equivalent to how it is when making custom levels through modding, but Nintendo made it easier for anyone to gain access to. It deserves to have a sequel.

Are the Koopas (& Buzzy Beetles) buffed overall compared to previous 2D games? They don’t dissipate if a player grabs a Star while in contact with them, and they wake up almost twice as fast, but that wake-up clock can be reset by an upward throw or paused by being taken underwater.

I like how, since wonder is the first entry in the super mario bros series in 23 years, it’s a sequel to not any of the new super mario bros games but super mario world. It keeps what made that game great and adds the modern touch that improved on it quite a bit.

6:22 Ground pounding into the pipe is almost the same as doing it in the Nintendo Switch Version of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury as you can also straightly ground pound fast into a pipe. I knew it from that game all along ever since Wonder released I bet you can also ground pound straight into a Pipe fast in Super Mario Odyssey as well. You can’t do that in the original version of 3D World, Super Mario Galaxy, nor the Style in Super Mario Maker 2.
