Add in all the damage done by Hurricane Helene. Peaches, apples and pecan trees have been damaged. It takes new trees several years to produce. It is still warm in the south and there were still vegetables in the fields. And the winter crops can not be planted with the fields so damaged. Not wood but will affect everyone! The cotton boles were open and still in the fields. If the boles get wet they are no longer good. Everything from clothing to cotton balls will be more costly.

Anyone who has been a mindful and frugal Prepper for a few years has already mitigated inflation and shortages, so no worries. Shopping has become optional at this point, and I am now using items I paid little more than a dollar for that are now closer to five dollars. As someone living on a small fixed income Prepping has many benefits, not just security for the future. I save by initially buying only items I know I will use when they are at rock bottom prices, WOW deals at Grocery Outlet stores, Winco bulk bins and Amazon sacks of dry foods, then freeze dried cans when they are at half price sales. Fresh fruit and veggies from 'REDUCED' bins, I use some now, and dehydrate the rest for future use. I buy almost everything else at local non'-chain' type Thrift Stores that support local charities, they are not as expensive as others, and I make it a point to shop on Senior Days. I look for high quality items in excellent condition, and take care of them. This allows me to cope with fluctuating utility and petrol costs, and the odd essentials such a as new tires and brakes, which was a recent expense. I eat a plant-based whole foods diet, organic where possible/affordable, and grow a few edibles in my garden. Yes, this take effort, but it is worth being able to treat myself to an occasional Day Out or a buffet once in a while. If I did not live simply like this, I doubt I would be living like a Queen, as I am now, but on a shoe-string budget!

8 Wheat berries? Yes, hard and soft wheat available through Amazon, as are wheat mills to grind it into flour, both manual and electric.
@reneeubry906527 күн бұрын
This is about the whole list so I will tell you what I know. Don’t drink coffee so don’t care especially since it is bad for my heart. Sardines don’t get eaten by anyone here except me but who knows how many heavy meatless they have. Dehydrated your own vegetables and fruit for that matter. Have you looked at the price of dried or fresh fruit lately. Most people aren’t equipped to keep dry grains like wheat or rice and even fewer have spent the money to buy a machine to grind grain into flour. Almonds hold up better than when it is roasted and ground to make almond butter. Now let’s talk about beans. Canned beans are not a bargain and cans go bad sooner than dry beans stored in glass jars that are vacuum sealed. That is to say nothing of the price. A 1 lb bag of dry beans will make 3 quarts of pressure cook beans and a bit left over for the next batch with a cost of about $.50-.75 per jar and the jar with 1/2 cut of beans put in to soak gives you more food that a can of beans. As for pasta it is food for bugs easily even if you are careful how you store it since it tends to have bug eggs you can’t see. The best ones are small noodles that you can just pour in jars and seal. Long or flat forms just are hard to protect from invaders. I don’t fry stuff or put oil on anything and olives are better than the oil so if I wanted any oil it would be coconut since it seam to be very shelf stable. Lastly canned stew may last awhile but all cans bloat and go bad so it is better to go with dry food and protect that from bugs and rodents and add water to rehydrate to eat. I think I covered your list but back to beans, you can buy a can of beans for the price of a bag of dry beans so dry beans have more than 3 times the food for about the same price. Something that is really helpful is tomato that dry or canned with tomato paste giving you the most tomato in the smallest portion. I prefer to buy tomato in #10 cans and re-can it into pint and 1/2 pints since that is the best bargain anywhere. Tomatoes have almost doubled in price so that is something to not pass by.

I can live without coffee! How much coffee would you have to store to make it worth while? Sardines? I don’t eat Sardines! That is fish bait for real fish! Almond butter is ridiculous! Stop it California has not been in drought for three years now! 2 years ago California had 225 percent normal rain! Dehydrate vegetables? Who buys dehydrated vegetables? First frozen then can! I never heard of hard wheat barriers!? Even though spaghetti has gone up it is still a cheap food! Chick peas? Who eats chick peas, you can have mine! Can beef stew is going up! So buy chili and chili beans! Almond milk! What did we do before people learned how to milk almonds? 🤣 Even though rice has gone up, a 50 pound bag of rice cost 50 dollars and out of 50 pounds of rice you get 500 servings! So 50 dollars divided by 500 servings 50 ~ 500 = 0.1 10 cents a serving! Dry beans are cheaper and lighter! It’s the magical fruit! There are other oils besides olive oil! A package of spaghetti is 1.19 a package not counting the meat or sauce So a package of spaghetti at 1.19 x .1 percent is now 1.3 a Eleven cent price increase! Not counting the meat or sauce, I can feed 6 people off of one package so that breaks down to 21.6 cents per person for the noodles! A How much spaghetti would you have to buy to save and then how would you store it? 🙄 I hope this was helpful! 🙄😊 Why are you trying to start a panic buying spree? 🤬 To save any kind of money on everything you mention do you know how much of that product you would have to buy to save any money? Then how would you store it? Now you have to buy containers to keep it in, to keep the critters out of it There goes all the money you saved! 🙄 And now you have to look at all this food like a hoarder! 🙄 Then you have to worry about someone stealing it! 🙄

@reneeubry906527 күн бұрын
They say brown rice doesn’t keep as well but it is healthier so what you have should be frozen if you can and then put in jars to vacuum seal. You can put larger quantities in food grade plastic bags then in plastic containers with lids. I would put bay leaf in a snack bag with fork holes and use an o2 eliminator pack in the rice and seal it tight before putting on the outer lid. I prefer putting my rice in canning jars and vacuum sealing the jar. If it is a jar that I am using you might want to put a bay leaf or two in or a block of cedar in a bag with holes to keep you from having any issues if you don’t empty your jar ver fast. I don’t let the block touch the rice. These things work so I hoop this helps you
