Good morning. Had a funny story to share. After watching this I ordered some of your seeds for my wife for Christmas. We have Christmas with our kids normally the week before Christmas but this year early on the 14th. The seeds showed up in time and my wife was surprised and excited as we live growing peppers in our green house in Texas. However, what I didn't know, until I opened my present, is my wife had a similar idea. I have a small library of about 4,000 books, of which about 3,000 are science fiction/fantasy so I opened my present and there was a copy of E3. I couldn't read it that day and had other things to do this week until today. So I had a chance to read this morning. Interesting story and plot line. I'd be interested in the sequel if you ever write it. I'm in the process of writing a technical book and would appreciate learning how you went about getting this printed. Have a great day

That's a great story, and I appreciate you sharing. That made my day! Glad you got a copy of the book. I can always use more honest reviews.....good or bad. I just published the sequel this week, and it's available on Amazon. I've been working on it for a few years. I finally finished writing the last chapter and polished it up the best I could. I got a cover designed for it on Fiverr. I know it's not very creative, but the title to the sequel is Return to Village E3. It answers a lot of the questions left unanswered by the first book. I also have a third book (unrelated to the first two) that I started that is about 50% finished. Like the second, it has been sitting around drawing dust for years. I'm working on it now, as I find time. Sure hope you guys enjoy growing the peppers. It's been a blast for me watching the various crosses develop over the years. As for getting my book printed, I used Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. It's free, and it is print on demand, so it requires no inventory. I write in word, then after I have it edited and ready to print, I use Kindle Create to format it for Kindle and print. After you have your manuscript finished and ready for the public, you can upload your manuscript and cover to kindle direct publishing, and it will walk you through the rest. Good luck with your book!

That's a whole bunch of peppers to choose from. I just might check them out. I was hoping the chunky pepper would be available. Maybe next year. A lot of hard work has gone into these pepper crosses. I'm glad that you are able to get a return for your work. Congratulations. Take care, have a wonderful weekend.

I appreciate your kind words, Shirley! Thanks for the encouragement. I'm hoping the Chunky Sweet will be ready next year. The biggest reward for me is seeing people all over the country and world growing them. Hope you have a great weekend!

I had good luck with Midwest Midnight Eclipse (1.0) from which I saved seeds and grew again this year -- the first year they had variable pod shapes, second year they were the classic cayenne-shape turning from black to red. I will try them again along with what looks good on Matt's Peppers of your varieties! Thank you for doing the hard work of developing new crosses. I know how much time it can take! Right now two of my most promising crosses are some larger, less hot Tabaneros (though reliably heatless ones have so far eluded me); and "goldfish", with fish pepper-like variegated foliage, yellow/gold cayenne-shaped pods, a nice taste, and maybe 10K SHU. Not very stable yet. I also have several other variants and anomalies going to see where they end up.

It's great to hear that you're having success with the Midnight Eclipse 1.0. Your less hot Tabanero sounds like a great pepper! Good luck with the rest of your projects too!

@@MidwestGardener I am just looking at the site, and the one thing I noticed is that you do an excellent job describing the plant and the seed generation, but there's no mention about the pepper's flavor. For me, I am not interested in spicy pepper's, and not necessarily looking just for ornamentals. I need my plants to be functional as well as pretty. It would be nice to have a flavor profile for each pepper as well. Such as, is the peach or black cherry sweet, full of flavor? Or is is it hot, bland, inedible, etc? The same goes for all the varieties. That is very helpful for me, personally, as a buyer. Maybe it doesn't matter to others but it does to some. Just a few thoughts. In your video, you talked about the Candy pepper so I will be buying that one for sure. I'm excited! Have a blessed day!
@MidwestGardener

@@LewisAcreFarm Most of these are spicy. I also consider most of them to be just ornamentals with peppers that aren't worth eating when there are so many better ones out there. I have quite a few still in the works that aren't released yet that will be ornamentals with good taste. Some are spicy, and some are sweet with no heat. I'll try to keep that in mind for next time. The reason I mentioned the taste of Onyx Candy is that most ornamental peppers don't taste that great, so it's unusual for an ornamental pepper.

@MidwestGardener thank you so much for your reply! I truly appreciate the information. I look forward to having a beautiful pepper that tastes amazing.
