I just wish that those creators that publish a pattern book would use a spiral bound format so we don't have to keep breaking the spine just to read a pattern. Please don't come at me, this is just my preference.
@EliseRoseCrochet

I think that's a great idea! I'm sure that decision is made by the publisher! 🧶🧶🧶

You can take any book to a place like Staples, and they will slice off the binding and spiral bind it for you.

I worked at a printing company for years, I’ve cut the spine off and spiral bounds 100’s of books.
@larissaalcorn3406

@TheOldeCrow Because it's a customization that YOU want. If the publishers spiral bind them, the cost of the book is going to increase anyway. So you have a choice. Either stomp your feet and complain about a book binding not being functional for you while you wait around for publishers to make a more expensive book the way you want it, or head to a Staples where they can customize the book for you for like $5. The choice is yours.

I really hope mythical creatures do become popular next year! I love making mermaids and satyr dolls and plan on expanding into other mythical creatures. Actually my current project is a centaur since I play one in a current DnD campaign and wanted to make a doll of her. It would be amazing to see new patterns that cover a variety of creatures!

That's a lovely sentiment that I know your party members will love! I used to work in a home center store. When trying to decide colors for a blanket I would go to the paint color displays. There are brochures about colors for exterior and interior paint schemes. I just collected them all, then looked at them at home. Helped me a lot with my decisions.

I've been making amigurumi since before I knew there was a term for it (like...20 years or so), and I'm absolutely one of those gluttons for punishment who would take on a huge project with all black yarn. But...I'm also someone who would find an error in my stitches, shrug my shoulders, and keep crocheting without fixing it (I'm not redoing 100 stitches, lol). 😆 Little tip for those who don't know: use a head lamp when crocheting in dark colors. It makes seeing stitches so much easier!

It's so funny you mention paint companies and color trends, I think the same is true. I happen to love the color blue too. Good thing. Great predictions - will be interesting to see. Can't believe 2024 is so darn close! I did crochet a few things this past year and still have one top on the hook. Hopefully I'll finish it in time for next spring. Crochet has come a long way since I learned eons ago. It's incredibly popular and I think that trend will definitely continue, it's just so much faster than knitting. I knit far more, it's just easier on the old fingers.

Hi Elise! I was surprised that after 8 month I find having bought this 2 brothers book and what a wonderful book this is, the setup, descriptions and beautiful pictures to guide me. Further the granny cardigan, my god, its so easy and nice slouchy garment great for a nice fall evening. Finally your AI statement, its my number one thing that annoys me at this moment. More that at first glance we can't see if it works or not and for beginners this can be a stopper. Thank you again for your great vids!

I agree about the loveys because I know a lot of little kids in my school see these and LOVE THEM!!! but they can’t make them because of how young they are and it just breaks my heart😣. I try to make as many as possible for these kids, but as soon as I give it to them they go and tell their friends and I had to stop because they were completely breaking my budget. Little kids love loveys and I think it’s going to be a definite trend for 2024.

I HOPE Chenille chunky yarn becomes a big thing. Maybe there will finally be more options for colors and brands in stores. I almost exclusively use chenille chunky yarn for my plushies and finding the right color is such a pain (to the point I've started buying white yarn and dyeing it myself for projects). I know parfait chunky exists but I want to be able to feel the yarn before I buy and they don't sell it in stores :( I don't want to spend all that money plus shipping just to end up hating the yarn!

Funny that you mentioned the Crotchet Makes For Men book, it's coming in the mail today. I'm planning to branch out to that from amigurumi. One trend I'd like to see is less hate about Woobles, yes, the prices can be spendy, costing what could now get me several projects worth of yarn but they are a good entry point. In early pandemic, I crotched a scarf from KZbin tutorials and then did nothing with the hobby at all. Woobles kits made it stick and be fun, after a couple, I've made items from other patternmakers. I've had a lot of growth in 3 months from those "overpriced kits". Experienced crotcheters underestimate how much there is to learn and how removing a couple variables can help people stick with it. Thanks so much for your videos.

I'm working on my first amigurumi. It's Hana the flower fairy from Enchanted Woodland Amigurumi. I'm waiting for the eyes I ordered to arrive. Ran into a few snags but I think I can finish her...we shall see.

When it comes to amigurumi, I think anime characters with get more popular because many people have stopped using safety eyes and embroider the eyes on the amigurumi so they have more realistic anime eyes

Dear Elise, Thank you for sharing…I love all that you share with us! I hope 🤞🏼 this years colour is a green teal colour…I just found out “Peach Fuzz” is the Pantone 2024 colour. It is supposed to be Calming and tranquil. Erinna Lee’s books are fabulous! I do hope we get different stitch ‘varieties/styles’ of the granny square, circle, hexagon, heart, etc. I’m probably getting hated right now but I’ve never liked the original granny square stitch style. So I’m all for new styles! I wish someone would create a book full of Eeyore toys, he is one of my favourite. Yes, Sebastian should definitely get more acknowledgment 😂 But I do think maybe dragons 🐉 and fairies 🧚‍♂️ will be popular this year. End of last year I heard about youtuber Ashley Parker aka “The Loopy Lamb”, talk about her new book ‘Crochet Furry Friends’ - why this stood out to me is that it is all done in faux fur. And oh my they are absolutely gorgeous! (Which also relates to the realistic look of the animal). Thanks Elise. Take care and stay safe and well. God’s blessings to all 🙏🏼💗🧶😻🐶🦋

Watching this in June, not sure how many of these are true, I'm not usually up on trends. I feel like you're right about the plush amigurumis (part of me doesn't like them, Idk, it could just be because they're trendy lol) And I have been seeing a lot of micro amigurumi. I don't think i would like an oversized clothing trend it in crochet. Sounds expensive. Plus I take long enough to finish projects as it is XD I had to laugh at the comment about black yarn. It IS notoriously hard to see, but we Gloom Cookies of the world will never give it up🦇

I wouldn't be surprised if we also see ami's that resemble the form of the popular squishmallows. Crochet versions would be much cuter in my (probably biased) opinion. 😏 I'm pondering possible unique characters to make myself since my young nieces are so into them.

I have been mulling over the idea to try a plushie. Some of them are really beautiful. My girlfriend made a micro crochet puppy and an octopus. She said never again 😂 apparently it was one of the most stressful projects she's ever attempted. She gave them both to me because I adore miniatures and have quite a collection of tiny things but zero interest in trying them. 2.5mm is the absolute smallest hook I will use and that's a rarity.

About AI and Amigurumi, its already a problem. Recently on Reddit, you can see people complaining about etsy stores that uploads AI generated images of amigurumis to sell patterns, and the patterns are not even close to the image, so its being used to scam people around the world. just spreading the news. thanks for the awesome videos you make, it is very inspiring

A lot of AI crochet images get posted to Reddit with people wanting to buy the patterns - and we’re already seeing scammers selling patterns using AI generated art. I can’t suggest enough to pause and zoom in on the stitches of any crochet image to see where the increases and decreases are. These are things that can be noted in a normal picture. AI doesn’t understand how patterns work. You’ll see in the images that there will be whole sections of stitches that a blurred and unrecognisable as the AI program didn’t understand how the changes should render so has opted to render less detail.
