@jmo140 No pressure to him, but he definitely could go sub 4 in the mile or go sub 9 in the 2 mile by the time he graduates from high school. But that takes a lot of growth and speed, which not all young athletes can achieve. Either way, he us something else for his age. I just hope that he keeps getting faster each year.
@Qazikame Жыл бұрын
Also I know that going sub 9 in the 2 mile and sub 4 in the mile sounds like a stretch but I know many kids who have gone low 4 in the mile and low 9 in the 2 mile when they used to run about 6 minutes at 12 for the mile. It all comes down to this kids training and he could be a unit.

Outstanding job from this young man. I am 69 years old and ran briefly at the U of Oregon, Pre’s last season. My problem was ITB syndrome, hip pain. There are more injuries in running than football because of the constant pounding and repetitive movements associated with the sport. My point is that starting to excel at a young age isn’t wise in terms of longevity, the examples would fill a book. Yes, there are a few Michael Phelps and Mary Deckers, but very few.

His posture reminds me of Will Sumner of Georgia the new 800 meter runner who won the NCAA Outdoor Championships as a Freshman. His chicken wing reminds me of Billy Rodgers Americas best marathoner, aside from Frank Shorter. All the young distance runners are being taught great posture and running with your legs not on them. His stride and and posture then his stride and foot falls are all moving ahead in a straight line. Will Sumner and Katelyn Touhy , now this kid, are all extremely economical in their running. Which means they have more at the end to kick with. I used to run distances and I was not built straight at all and when I initiated my kick I looked like some sort Rube Goldberg creation. My feet were going flaring out being flung aside by my poorly built chassis. Then my arm movement looked good until my hands hit the center line of my chest then they flung up and out then loop back in to my sides. I used to scare people because I looked way out of control. But this supposed to be about the kid. What! You never heard of ADHD? I never grew out of it like they promised. O.K., O.K. I love watching these kids run the ones I've mentioned and also the runners from Newberry Park, California. We have an exciting future in the U.S. in the sprints and distance runs both Men and Women.
