Another reason you should use a dedicated bag any bag you bring to the range will most likely get gunpowder residue on it. Try passing through a metal detector with that.
@bele2.0417 ай бұрын
Metal detectors do not detect "Gunpowder residue".

I'm a new gun owner in New Jersey, Chatting online with a friend in California he was telling me to get Hollow Point Ammo.. I said I thought those were illegal and he said they aren't. But when I looked it up to be sure I learned that they're only illegal in New Jersey. So I guess even State by State it's a good idea to check the local laws before traveling.
@geedunk22497 ай бұрын
Hollow points are legal in NJ. They're illegal to carry if you have a carry permit. This is #13 from the NJSP Faq page: I’m not a police officer, are hollow points legal for me to possess? Yes. They are legal for purchase and possess in your home or on land owned by you. They are legal to possess and use at a gun range. They are also legal to possess while traveling to and from such places. Ammunition lacking a hollow cavity at the tip, such as those with a polymer filling, are not considered to be hollow point ammunition. An example of this can be seen with the Hornady Critical Defense / Critical Duty, Cor-Bon PowRball / Glaser Safety Slug and Nosler Inc. Defense

They’re not illegal to have in NJ. You just can’t use them in your carry weapon.

@@doc8579 just another messed up NJ law, why else would you need hollow point if not for your carry weapon. Smh

As gun owners, we do not avoid accountability. But it seems that most in this comment section do....

This is PATHETIC, what is the intent? Intent is 99.999%, especially when you don't have your gun! Common sense is in the rear view mirror.

Similar situation. A friend, active LEO, leaving Florida was pulled for additional screening because of trace gun powder on a bag he had previously brought to the range. A dog alerted to his bag while in line at the airport. He was delayed, properly ID’d & in his opinion was detained for an extended period of time for having nothing with him.

we were coming back from a CONUS Military mission, with our military gear....and the TSA went after all of us for the same reason. I was the mission OIC and tried to explain why soldiers have residue on their gear and they could not understand why.....gotta love the TSA, LOL!

I've been to Turks and Caicos scuba diving but this treatment of American citizens makes me want to boycott them. If Trump was president he and his state dept. would be demanding their release.
@elgar67437 ай бұрын
Why would you boycott a sovereign nation that enforces its laws?? What does being an American citizen have to do with being exonerated from accountability outside of the USA??

I know a guy who forgot 2 rounds in a carry on back pack they just pulled him to the side and made him sweat bullets for a half hour and then they told him he couldve faced jail and let him go

100% on point. Seems most of the comments are of the opinion that a sovereign nation cannot hold American citizens accountable when breaking laws....SMH.

I WENT TO THE AIRPORT AND CHECKED MY GUN IN FOR MY FLIGHT.. WHEN I WAS CLEANING OUT MY POCKETS TO GET SCANNED I FOUND THE ROUND I TOOK OUT THE CHAMBER IN THE PARKING LOT WHEN PUTTING THE GUN IN MY LOCKED BOX. NOT THINKING I JUST PUT THE ROUND IN MY POCKET. I WAS ABLE TO THROW IT IN THE GARBAGE REAL FAST WITH SOME TRASH I HAD, BUT MY HEART STOPPED FOR A SECOND WHEN I SAW IT.

Went to New Mexico for Explosive Investigation. Four days of blowing things up and walking through the debris. Wore the same jeans and shoes ( purposely) all four days and the plane trip home. TSA in Albuquerque was more interested in my skittles than any residue.

Lieutenant.... Off topic but what is the law in New Jersey regarding the Byrna less lethal Co2 pepper "gun" ? Thank you.
@martelltraininggroup7 ай бұрын
Here's a video I did on the Byrna a while back. Basically, it's legal in NJ to possess, but I would caution against carrying it outside your home since by NJ statute, only pepper spray (not more than 3/4 ounce in pocket sized container) is authorized for self defense outside your home. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWmpgWitdtmlr5o

Best advice is just to have a separate backpack or bag for the range, $20 can go a long way. Years ago flew to Miami with a friend out of NY and they took his Nutella but he was able to bring on his pocket knife smh

Why not? Because they hold those that break their sovereign laws accountable? Whether it was an accident or premeditated, those tourists were not in the USA, rather they were in someone else's 'backyard'...ignorance of the law is no excuse. They'll get their day in court...

I had a fanny pack that I used to carry ammo in my backpack just to keep it in one place. it was also easy to use in my trunk to keep ammo and pistol separate at that time. I cleared it out but it made the TSA pooch go crazy. Nothing but smells in there.
