Indeed, adding +20kph to 100 will save tiny amount of time even on big distances. Like chill with smarhone on sofa 10 minutes - voila, you burnt all your speeding, it is hillarious. My approach is to keep as much space around as possible. I go 100kph on empty road, and overtake all cars to not have anything ahead, then go calm again.

I think back to all the stupidity of my younger days racing on the highway. Nothing wrong with liking cars but I am glad I am well over that phase of my life. I endangered not only myself, not only my friends, but people on the road who wanted absolutely nothing to do with what I did. I made it out of that phase with at worst a speeding ticket, which was originally a reckless driving ticket until the cop decided to have some mercy. I never killed anyone or got anyone killed. To any young person reading this, please go to a race track, not the highway. If you can't afford the race track, don't race then. Imagine the people you love most. Now put them into a vehicle that isn't yours and watch them crash and burn. Now imagine you're the driver of car that led them to their deaths. You survived but now you're crippled for life, serving time in prison, and must now live with the guilt the rest of your life. It ain't worth it. I didn't do this but I've seen this happen to someone before. That EVO X of theirs turned into an expensive coffin.

I like these videos, because they refocus your driving. Also I like to watch Dashcam videos from my country. It seriously helps me, keeping attention on the road, while driving. When you have this "It can end badly and expect the unexpected" mindset, they try to hammer into your head in driving school, it really helps, being more concentrated, not get distracted so easily, not grab your phone, always watch the traffic ahead, always keep an eye on the side of the road. I like driving cars and when it is safe, I like to drive fast too, luckily on the Autobahn it is still allowed and in comparison very safe, if you keep an eye on the traffic and always expect the others to misbehave. But also I like to come home safely, ( NOW IT GETS GRAPHIC; IF YOU CAN'T TAKE IT, STOP READING!) to not lie crying in a wreck, with broken arms and broken, cut open bleeding legs, when help finally arrives after many, very long minutes, getting cut out of the steel that is still penetrating my wounds, not being able to do anything, grab anything, move anything, only suffering, pain, fear and the knowledge, that your life, even if you make it, will never be the same. Sitting in a wheelchair, having amputated legs or arms, a broken spine, or even severe brain damage... Not a nice picture... Totally not worth the quick adrenaline boost, you had before you crashed. No... drive safely, get home safely, sleep in your own bed, be healthy and stand up in the morning, that is my goal. I mean... It can still take you out. One drunken idiot, one psychopath, that thinks he can overtake until he crashes into me, or a mistake on my own, losing control, misinterpreting a situation, deer or boars running on the street, oil in a corner, that I see to late. Always possible. But I hope, if I try to be save on the road, and minimize the danger where I can, it will be okay. Don't get me wrong, I love driving, opening the roof, enjoying the wind and the roads, and I like to drive fast, where it is allowed, most likely and for my understanding of the situation safe. But don't risk lives by trying to be cool, speeding and cutting corners. If you want that, go to a racetrack in a racecar. My next car will be a quick hot hatch, but I will always have the danger in my mind, using the power only, when I have to and / or it is completely safe for everyone to use it, like on the autobahn. Most important for me was in my decision, that it is safe and very good in crash tests, has all wheel drive and enough power reserves, if I need them, for example if someone decides that for driving behind me at 140 kph, 5 meters are more than enough and my only way out of the situation is forward. I think that is a pretty healthy relationship to driving. Stay safe, have fun everyone, sorry for the book I wrote here, just felt like it needed out...

Yes, cars are designed to break past a certain speed (around 15mph). It's a lot safer than not breaking at all, like all the pre-WW2 cars used to be. Because your body can't survive the shock of a one second 60-0mph crash.

I saw a crash simililar to that in the 80s! I had nightmares for a year!👋🤯 a semi truck fully loaded didnt stop a a red light, and ran over a pregnant lady on her car! By rear ending her! The car looked like a can of tuna! Peeled and rolled! The only thing that was left behind, was the cars chassis! They had to extract her in little pieces! Not even the car was recognizable, the only way you could tell what type of car it was! Just by finding the badges! Blood and guts everywhere! I was traumatized!😱i just hope her and her unborn baby are Rip🙏😢

There's no bridge abutments where you live? They may not be IN the road, but they're not far from it, and people who drive at 120mph are the type to slide off the road on a gentle curve because they don't understand that the highway and car are not designed to corner even a long curve at that rate.
@442hoeky
@442hoeky 9 жыл бұрын
warulez I used to live in Germany (West Germany, actually), so I'll tell you that (a) Those highways are designed for much higher speeds than most highways and (b) there are plenty of fatal accidents on the autobahn - usually people simply driving faster than their car can handle on those roads. Have you ever actually driven a car at 120 mph or faster? I have and trust me, you don't want to take a long curve designed for 70 or even 100 at 120 or more - especially in a car that's not designed as a sports car or when road conditions aren't 100% perfect.
@442hoeky
@442hoeky 9 жыл бұрын
warulez Fastest for me was just over 140 mph. 428 Fatal crashes on the Autobahn is "plenty" in my book! Of course there are many, many more in the U.S., mainly because there are far more people, more cars (5 times more) on far more roads (10 times more) traveling far more miles every year. Here's an example of roads "not designed" for high speed where I live. Here in Toronto Canada, there are dozens of highways. There is one that's all raised up like a long bridge called the Gardiner Expressway. There was an spot on this highway just before the portion that is raised where the road had a bad 'dip'. We knew this spot as teens because we often drove too fast and that spot could be dangerous. One day a Corvette going who knows how fast hit that spot and jumper right over the barrier and into traffic on the other side. Cheers.

@442hoeky
@442hoeky 9 жыл бұрын
Nick Honey Not true. Hitting a concrete wall at 60mph is the same as hitting an identical car going the other way at 60mph (either way you go from 60 to 0 almost instantly). Now, if you hit a 100 ton truck going the other way at 60mph, then it's pretty much like hitting a wall at 120 mph (because you will go from 60 in one direction to 60 in the opposite direction - same as going from 120 to 0).

What if as you eject and you're in the air falling down, you hit a car going the opposite direction, because you can't control where you are falling.

I live a couple miles from an interstate and only when it's very quiet outside can I just barely hear the tire noise of the cars... Every now and then... There's a really bad crash and it sounds like a bomb going off... When it happens ... Semi truck crash or something crazy like that... You can just barely feel the vibrations and hear the sound.... I'm probably over a mile away... Late at night , if it's really quiet you can hear crashes like that when they happen.... Bad stuff..... I think I've only heard two crashes like that in almost 10 years... It takes a second to realize what happened... because you're wondering whether a transformer blew up or something like that... Drive safe!

Ford Focus for sale One lady owner from new, never ragged around, always kept up with service intervals. A couple dings, dents and scratches here and there, but otherwise in pristine working condition. Photo used for reference. :P

120mph into a stationary block? Wouldn't that be more like two cars colliding head on while both travelling 60mph? (not both travelling 120mph like stated in the video)

RJ The Bike Guy. No. The two cars both absorb impact. The concrete wall doesn't.

Cars yield to the force of the impact, which means they deform and move. The wall doesn't. While 2 cars hitting head on at 60mph is really bad, 1 car hitting a wall at 120mph pretty much guarantees death.

Newton’s fourth law. Equal and opposite reactions. Two cars crashing head on at 60 mph would not equal 120 mph, but 60 mph since they both repel each other at impact. Simple physics
