I worked as a volunteer Firefighter. In accident like this, high speed collisions into solid objects like rock or trees - the carnage is insane. My first fatal accident call still haunts me to this day. This guy and his wife hit a rock wall at 100 km/hr. His left eyeball had popped out and all of his teeth were broken and part of his rib cage was sticking through his shirt. That's the sheer force. Your body is still moving forward when you hit that object - so his organs and bones literally moved forward at the same speed and when they arrested - essentially they were crushed. I guess the only blessing in that accident was that death was nearly instant. His wife died as well, but she didn't look fatally injured. I got sick to my stomach. Someone has to actually collect the eyeball and broken teeth so the coroner has it and the mortician have them. In accidents like that, the casket is closed. The even more insane thing is I faced accident scenarios just like this where people lived. But we are working in -10 weather with the jaws of life trying to pry open a door and get some leverage to get the person out and warm. All I can say is DRIVE SAFE. Be vigilant and assume every driver around you isn't on the same level as you. Don't follow to closely and drive for appropriate conditions. Most of the accidents I got to see and work were human error based. Speed and losing control of a vehicle. Remember, you are locked inside a 4000 pound metal shell that can crush extremely easily with the right force. Some of the cars surprised me. One sports car with carbon fibre in it, it took a blast from a Ford 150 to the passenger side and it was still running - the Ford was destroyed. Do as much as you can as a driver to mitigate your risks. No phone, no eating, pay attention. Pull over somewhere if you are drowsy. I implore people to listen to this message and remember that you probably are not driving a 5 star safety rating car either. And NO a Hummer H2 will not save your life. A real Hummer would. But one of the worst fatalities I have ever seen was in an H2. Bigger vehicle doesn't mean more protection. It actually just means more carnage.

Hummer is a pile of crap in every way, it's just big. Poorly engineered and even more poorly put together. Nowhere near as safe an excellently engineered ultra safe car like the one in the video.

lairdriver For much of the 20th century, the the carnage from traffic collisions into anything were much worse, even at lower speeds. I've seen footage of the horrific injuries, and I got insanely sick to my stomach, and I couldn't sleep that night. Some people had their flesh hanging from parts of their body, a woman had gotten partially decapitated, her body mangled beyond recognition, and this man had his body contorted to such a way that you'd think he wasn't human. To finish it off, despite the damage done to them, few people still survive and suffer up until they reach the hospital, or even for the rest of their lives. What you saw was horrific and I agree, but it used to be much worse.

My father drives a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, we still use that truck to this day, and i even gave that tank a nickname, "trucky" Now, before i go into detail, i wanna say something, in 2009/10, i was in a horrible car crash when i was 4 or so.. a van had turned left in a right-only lane, a three car collision, and we were in a blue chevrolet silverado, one tough f**king truck, if i do say so myself.. (they both look exactly the same, from what i remember of the blue chevy.) during the collision, both me and my dad were knocked out cold, and his seatbelt left a nasty scar from his chest, to his waste, i was injured, drifting in and out of consciousness, hell, even my mom claimed that i, quote on quote, died a few times, when i woke up in the hospital, i was in a single piece, a scar on the left side of my forehead, and glass in my head. (yeah, bizzare as it sounds.) when i saw pictures of the blue chevy, my heart was absolutely broken... The grill was torn clean off, the radiator was non-existant, to say the least, headlights, gone. engine, totalled.. but the frame acted like a roll-cage, the van hit hard, and i think we even rolled.. but today, we own a silver chevrolet that looks just like it.. i miss that bloody truck to this day, and i'm happy i survived that close encounter with death. that old chevy saved my life, the frame seemed somewhat intact in the photo's aswell, so i wonder.. i wonder if that blue chevrolet is sitting in a junkyard somewhere.. somewhere, just waiting to be scrapped, smelted, and reborn.

Well, this is a Renault Laguna, one of the safest cars ever made, the first car to ever win 5 stars at euroncap and a car that introduced many engineering solutions that changed the way everyone else (including Volvo and Mercedes) designed their cars. When it came out in 2000 it was so far ahead of any other car that everyone else was buying it and copying the engineering solutions. Apparently, Renault was losing money on each Laguna they sold, that's how much they invested into development. Which is not hard to believe if you look at it today, it still looks fresh even though it's 15+ years old and still feels more solid than a lot of new cars . Look at it crash at 70 mph into a solid wall, still the passanger cell remains solid, the engine and gearbox pushed under the cabin and A pillar almost intact. /watch?v=HnyM9xY2j7A 50 mph /watch?v=GKd75JwsMm0 70mph

***** Actually better off hitting another car (preferably parked), hedge, fence, or single-brick wall, but best is enter a field through a gate or between posts of a fence, as the crops &/or soil will slow you down. After some recent tragedies where cars have fatally hit pedestrians on footpaths drivers need to learn in an emergency the importance of focusing on minimising injuries rather than trying not to hit other cars!

Because he would've had to remove his glasses in case they shattered, and he probably would've missed the tree completely, as a result. Also, they probably didn't want to get into a long drawn out negotiation over how much Evan's thinks he is worth. A winch doesn't argue, and is much cheaper. However, if they'd set Evan's a wager, whereby he couldn't hit the tree in a million years, he may have done it for free, and hit the tree first time.😏

My cousin was travelling on a private dirt road going to my brothers house when she was going a little bit to fast and didn’t turn quick enough and went straight down the little slope into a big tree! Thankfully her two little girls came out fine except the 2 year old had broke her thumb. But thing that gets me is that my cousin, she did not come out alive! Breaks my heart everyday that a small mistake made a massive loss! Emily ❤️ u will be missed and never forgotten and always loved and your little babies are safe and will grow old so you can look down and be proud! This just brought back a bad flashback. I was going 35 on a 45mph road. Nice August day. The road was poorly laid out. It has a small but very ramp-like bump in it right before a turn. On the edge of the road...a powerline/telephone pole. I was driving like normal and my powersteering unit went out either right before, or right on the bump in my 95 Eclipse. 35mph literally chopped the pole in half and tapped a tree. My engine was basically 2 feet away from my lap. How I'm alive and uninjured, I have no clue.
@zzoinks
@zzoinks Жыл бұрын
I think those power lines are supposed to fall away when they are hit so they don't kill like trees do! Same with road signs, lights. Mailboxes should be made the same way, but I'm not sure if they all are. The dangerous mailboxes seem to be the combined, huge metal mailboxes on poles that if you drive into them, they'll go through the cars window and hurt the passengers. I saw a crash test like that.

It depend. After lifting with right engine (2.0 16V, 2.0T or 2.0dci). You just need to change stoch shock absorbers into gas ones and you have very good car in fact. The best in GT trim with 204HP. Even problematic turobines from 1.9dci where later improved and now this is not that tragic. Finally spare parts to Laguna II are pretty chip so overal cost can be low even considering some minor issue from time to time. In fact I was positively surprised with result of this hitting the tree. Looks that pasengers compartment is in pretty well shape.

Anything that isnt moving makes a greater risk for a fatal accident, if you hit it. when you have a head on collision with another car the other car absorbs some of the impact, and if your in the heavier car the other one gets pushed away

Fences, lines and other improvements save lives. But what they also do is cost money. Speed cameras on the other hand make them. The government will always prefere more revenue. They don't actually want you to stop speeding. If you did, the cameras wouldn't generate profit. To make them focus on saving lives, municipalities and government agencies must be stripped of the revenue. Whoever issues a fine must never be allowed to keep the money.

I was just watching a video where a gamer was complaining about trees stop cars. "How can a tree stop a car." The video said. "The car driving should plow right through the tree." People who play computer games believe it, and when confronted with the truth, they blame reality. "Some one should chane that. That's not right." They say. Yes reality is wrong.

Not sure where you're from (so you might already know this) but here in the UK a lot of rural roads have a 60mph speed limit. Of course the speed limit is how fast you can go under perfect conditions, things like bends, poor visibility, bad weather etc would cause a sensible driver to slow down

Not planting any trees in the vicinity of roady would reduce the risk of hitting a tree by roughly 100%. Here in Germany, its either hitting a tree or a truck crashing into the end of a traffic jam. Yet, I still dont understand, why they still plant trees just a few feet away from new country roads. Within 20 years, they form a tunnel, and will grow so close to the road, that they force the traffic to drive more towards the center thus increasing the risk for collision. And if that is not the case - EVERY driver who loses control ( it doesnt matter whether it is due to using a phone, driving under influence, over speeding ... or just stupidity or technical failure) These are all deaths which could be prevented to the cost of avoiding to plant new trees. Every accident on these roads, no matter how large or old the tree is - Is to a rate of at least 3/4 lethal.
