It’s about him asking for help, first without being able to voice it and then screaming it. The whole hallucination/talking to himself scene, not letting anyone know where he’s going is about him acting like he’s untouchable. Finally after he has been humbled by this horrendous tragedy he got himself into, he is graced by these fellow humans helping him, after asking for it.

@IamKafei18 күн бұрын
The choice of Sigur Rós' 'Festival' for this scene was so moving. I just love the way it reaches a climax as he finally manages to muster up, in one final heave, a desperate call for help. I think it alludes perfectly to the theme of interpersonal struggle that, in some ways, led Aron Ralston to the dire situation of being trapped and utterly alone in the face of death. The way I relate to Aron's story, as depicted in the film, is his growth arc in terms of relationships and discovering the importance of interdependence with others. From being a pridefully hyper-independent and perhaps even selfish young man, avoidant of genuine and authentic attachments, he is forced to confront the agony of true isolation and left to rue his neglect of both intimate and family relationships. I believe this is a punishing fate that is suffered by many men at some stage in their lives, which is one of the reasons this film is so powerful. It is truly telling that the real-life Aron recalls a vision of his unborn son as the transformative moment of his ordeal and, indeed, his life; the hope of this pure and redeeming love being the thing that renews his strength and determination. He has paid a heavy price for it, but he receives the gift of this vision humbly. Aron is, undeniably, a remarkably resourceful and courageous individual, but in crediting his unborn son with his will to survive, he demonstrates his profound personal growth. When he calls out to the family of hikers for help, he is finallly surrendering to the vulnerability of trusting in others. Under the most trying of circumstances, he places faith in the mercy of strangers and is ultimately set free from the prison of his isolation. The reward, as shown in the closing scene of the film, when Aron emerges from the water to face a group of people smiling back at him, is the empowerment of loving relationships. He has discovered a newfound balance between reliance on his own individual resilience and the resilience that can only be found in community, in belonging. This balance is the freedom he has unknowingly yearned for.
