Really shows you how unappreciated Lennon was at rhythm.

In my own opinion , Malcom young , pete townshend and the mighty John lennon ...top 3 rock rythym guitar players of the 20th century

Thank you so much for these Beatles tutorials - they are brilliant. I often find that when I get some insight into how the songs were actually played, I have an even more increased respect for all four of them as musicians.

Great job again😀 it strikes me how its not mentioned how great the Beatles were as a Country-Rock band, before the Byrds , Burrito Bros etc…George could really play that style wonderfully, even early on songs like Baby’s In Black, Act Naturally, What Goes On…Run For Your Life, etc etc…you can even hear Dickie Betts style ( pentatonic major) in Octopus..this was before the Allmans debut! Also I am convinced HARRISON co-wrote this song, maybe even Lennon musically…you can even see Ringo debuting it in Get Back and George beginning to help him..I think he was playing it on piano in C at that point but only had the first verse! Anyway thanks again ..love this song.

Watched some video on KZbin of Ringo saying he was on a boat in the Med and a sailor was telling him how octupii have little areas on the seabed where they arrange tins or rocks or whatever, an octupus garden. Octupii are smart, can solve problems and aquariums know to be careful with them because they'll climb out their tank into other tanks to catch and eat fish.
@castleanthrax18337 ай бұрын
Yes, they'll cross a room to take something from a tank several dozen feet away. They're capable of opening a jar or bottle to extract a crab from inside and can fit through any tiny hole provided their beak can fit through. There is a video of a Pacific giant octopus escaping off a boat through a hole that looked about 3 or 4 inches in diameter (although it was square).

This song really shows the genius of The Beatles. If this song were done for Ringo's Rotogravure solo album in 1976 with other musicians, let's just say it would not sound like this at all. All three Beatles went the extra mile to give Ringo a standout song that, at bottom, was a Ringo throwaway.

What the miracle was is that they all had a wonderful musical education, but how they interpreted those sounds into such beautifully melodic stories, and naturally complimented each other's styles. I believe that is a once in a hundred lifetimes that it comes about that these four personalities just happened upon each other. Boy , it sure was a privilege to be alive and a witness to such greatness as it happened. It is the generation of musicians that set the tone, and the scale of what rnr, is and should be for the hundred lifetimes. Amazing work my friend! Thank you for opening the secret to us regular folk!!!!!!

You need to oil that fretboard- it looks very, very dry. Mineral oil, F-One, Fret Doctor- whatever, that thing need some oil. Otherwise, great vid as usual.

Excellent tutorial. The lighting on the fretboard is a bit too bright and the strings disappear from view. I'm working on the Travis picking.

Such a clever move in the solo to get back to E!
@ibji7 ай бұрын
For those who think they can't Travis pick, YES YOU CAN. What you need to do is practice playing just the first note, then adding the next part and play the first 2 beats, and keep adding on another beat, but not before you have it down pat up to that point. Don't try to play it all at once right away.
